This location is hit or miss. Today was a hit! I returned some recessed lights (significantly cheaper on Amazon). I was promptly and pleasantly greeted by Tenaj in Customer Service and Tenaj informed me HD price matches. I had no idea! Unfortunately, it was downhill from there; but it was a great start!

I sat like a j*** for 45 minutes waiting for someone to cut a piece of plywood. I finally chased down a worker who told me after a very noble effort that they didn't have anyone to work the cutting center. The managers weren't qualified to cut it so I told them I'm going to Lowe's. I largely blame management for this and will not be bringing my business back in the future.

The only reason I still come here is because it's closer to home than the Watchung location, hence more convenient for me. However, I must say that customer service is severely lacking. Even though a few employees seem friendly and welcoming, most of them seem to lack customer service skills. Most of them will not acknowledge you when they walk past or ask if you need any help. It's pretty weird coming here at 6 in the morning when they open and have like five of them stand by the entrance but not say a word to me at all. It's disappointing and not a great way to start my day. Don't get me wrong, there are a few employees who treat me like you would treat a customer. But about 80% of the employees are just meh. That is all.

I have to say the manager (excuse the spelling) Kaleel, saves this Home Depot location of a 1 star review. He is exceptional and from reading the other reviews it seems Home Depot needs to weed out people to have more employees like him..I had been searching for a new front door using the Home Depot ap and found the one I wanted. It said there were 2 in stock in south Plainfield so instead of buying on the ap I went directly to the store to look at the door in person. While looking for the door, I noticed a lot of their stock had dings and scratches all over them. Either way could not find the door I was looking for so asked one of the guys sitting in the door department. He searched high and low and could not find the door so told me he could place an order for it, they will search the entire store and pick the item for me and if not order another one for me. So I purchased it and went home. The next day I tried calling to see if the door was in and the phone just kept ringing. So I sent a text to the customer service chat in the Home Depot ap. That person ended up getting through to the store and she found out that they had cancelled my order. This is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They never reached out to even say they cancelled it which is the messed up part. Kaleel was very nice and called around to other stores and tried to make the situation right. I was on the phone for awhile and he said that if he could get through to the other stores he would give me a call back. Which he did.

I recently had a door installed with Home Depot. The door came three weeks late and damaged. When i try to get in touch with my installation manager he doesn't answer. They say there's a warranty on the door but if you can't get in touch with anyone what's the point. Never using Home Depot for installation again expensive and poor service.

* DO NOT DO CURBSIDE PICKUP!!! Beware!! This has to be one of the worst Home Depots in NJ. They aren't taking COVID-19 precautions seriously. I choose curbside pickup in which led to no response when I arrived. I went inside after waiting 25 minutes on "hold" only to find out they weren't doing it. It was all a sham to lore me into the store. These are serious times and false services shouldn't be offered if you care about the health of your customers and employees. This store should be investigated.

Even pre-pandemic you'd be hard pressed to find help in this store. They seemed understaffed, but even more so now. 3 stars is due to the fact that they usually have the products I go in there for (simple things like furnace filters) and if you ARE lucky enough to get ahold of a knowledgeable person who works there, I find that they do try to be helpful. I havent encountered any rude employees. They're just scarce! I bought an outdoor plant there yesterday. Had to do my own research because despite the cashier paging a sales associate in the garden department, no one came. The outdoor plants looked fine but the indoor ones were dry and raggedy looking.

Don’t bother trying to call the store. No one answers. Not even to let them know you are there for a curbside pick up. Just have to pray someone nice comes out and notices you.

The security guards allowing customers inside are rude and nasty not only to the customers but to the employees. The military style antics are unacceptable.

I walked in to see a greeter sitting in a chair and picking his nose. Nice. Does anyone even work here? Don't even try to find help, it's a waste of time.

My Hot Water Heater Was Leaking So My Husband And I Went To The Home Depot In South Plainfield To Purchase A New One. We Made The Appointment For The Next Day And The Gentleman That Came To Our Home Was Very Polite And Helpful. He Told Us Step By Step What He Was Going To Do And Made Sure It Was Ok With Us, He Cleaned Up After Himself Before He Left. The Company He Works For Is 1-800-HEATERS The Young Man Who Installed The Heater Was Ruben Ortiz. I Would Recommend Anyone Who Needs A New Water Heater Installed To Use This Company. And Ask For Ruben Ortiz...

This Home Depot is close to my house; when I moved to Piscataway, I've had to make trips to Home Depot every few days. I've been to Home Depots before in Florida and Maryland, so I had an idea of what to expect. The store contains everything that you would usually find from a Home Depot. I haven't checked out the gardening section because I'm not that keen on plants. My apartment already had appliances, so there was no need to look for washers, dryers, or fridges. Negatives: -There are four self check-out stations, but inevitably one of them will be broken and one or two others will take forever to reset after finishing with a customer. I asked a nearby employee for help with checking out, but he conveniently ignored me. -From these reviews, it seems that this location's customer service is lacking in general. I asked Tom for advice on what to buy and how to fix a headboard and he was very polite and helpful. Look for him when he's working here. Fortunately, I don't need to come here too often. Otherwise, I'd probably pick up other frustrations that others have voiced.
