Step back in time in a magnificent B&B. Rooms are beautiful, cozy common space, breakfasts are wonderful. Been here on business off season twice now - would love to come back in the Spring ?♥️

Whistling Swan Inn defiantly stands as a beacon of hospitality and timeless elegance. From the moment you step onto its meticulously manicured grounds, you're transported into a world of refined comfort and warmth. I spent the weekend there for my anniversary and it was amazing. The inn itself is a Victorian gem. What truly sets the Whistling Swan Inn apart from others we have visited is its unparalleled dedication to personalized service. The innkeeper went above and beyond to cater to my requests for the occasion. Speaking of breakfast, the morning spread at the Whistling Swan Inn was nothing short of exceptional. We were provided with a Menu that we could select from and if you are visiting the grits are to die for!! I highly recommend Whistling swan inn and if you are in the area i would defiantly look them up.

Attended the Victorian Tea yesterday and enjoyed myself. The food was ok and the Inn is lovely. Was disappointed that we couldnt see the gentleman reading 'A Christmas Carol' and someone was vacuuming upstairs during the reading which was very annoying!

My wife and I have been coming here for years. However, we will not be returning anymore. The new owners have seemed to neglect the place and not maintain it properly. The exterior is falling apart and looks very dilapidated and uncared for. The interior isn't much better. Our room was dirty and dusty. The doorknob for the bathroom wouldn't stay on the door. There were no window shades. The TV was so tiny. We couldn't stand in our room due to the peak of the house. When I looked online it did not represent the room we actually got. Basically we couldn't move in our room. The hallway rugs were dirty as well. We were provided with a tiny shampoo and conditioner tube which was not nearly enough for 2 people and the bar of soap was minuscule. We were extremely disappointed with the accommodations, especially after raving about it in years past. Next time we return to Stanhope, we will be staying somewhere else for sure.

Enjoyed! Recommend. Top notch breakfast, good strong coffee. Romantically creaky old house. Clean. Player piano in sitting room. One star off Rooms rating for no shade or opaque curtain (had to hang the bathrobe up for privacy). Also--and this of course isn't the Inn's fault, but--two stars off Location rating for neighbors (prolonged car honking on pulling up, trash and junk in yard, junk piled on porch).Food & drinks: Bell's Mansion, recommend for dinner.

Hospitality at its finest! Audry was the perfect innkeeper and made our stay so comfortable. Very warm & inviting atmosphere. I enjoyed all of the antiques and art on the walls. Our room was quiet and had everything we needed. The breakfast was my favorite part. We ate outside on the huge porch next to the beautiful garden. Highly recommend the Whistling Swan Inn!

Wow! We cannot speak more highly of this beautiful and historic bed and breakfast. We stayed at the Whistling Swan Inn the night of our wedding. Upon our arrival we were kindly and warmly welcomed by Audry. The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and had also been so generously upgraded. Audry made sure to have food for us in accordance with our dietary restrictions which we thought was so thoughtful. Before leaving, we relaxed in the charming living room and listened to old classics on the antique record player.Thank you, Audry, Everitt, and staff for such a lovely stay!

Beautiful house. We stayed one night on a trip farther East. We were in the High Point Suite. Super neat room with a large whirlpool tub, steam shower, fireplace (that we couldn't figure out how to turn on) and the bed is in a separate room under the turret. Would normally be a nice quiet place but we had the bad luck of getting 2 drunk people next to us who talked loudly for hours with their door open, then got in a huge argument and one had to leave to go back to his own hotel. How embarrassing! I can't imagine acting like that at a B&B, or anywhere really! Owner was super sweet and apologetic but it wasn't her fault! Slept well after that show ended at one a.m.Breakfast was really good and you choose what you want to eat so that was also a neat feature. Our room also had a remote with lots of colored buttons but never figured out what that controlled either. Delicious cider and mini donuts were out when we arrived. Would love to come back here and stay longer. Plenty of parking in back. Nice garden and large porch to sit on as well. This one is a gem!

Very quant! Beautiful property. Pick a bigger room with hot tub, smaller rooms have smaller bathrooms that are a bit tight. No in room thermostats. Can be a little bit better kept up/updated.

Best stay ever!We went for a short weekend and boy were we glad we picked this place. Breakfast was phenomenal. Plus there were constant baked goods through the day. In addition, it's in a perfect spot to walk to either side of Stanhope and enjoy either a fancy dinner at Bell's Mansion or an amazing lunch at Shakey Jake's (don't let the dive bar fool you, the food is delicious). We stayed in a room with the full jacuzzi tub, and it was fantastic to get a good warm soak and then rest on a lovely bed. The inn is beautiful and we were happy to be told about the scrapbook which covered the inn's history. Such a neat look back in time.We are planning on going back, especially for those yogurt parfaits and gingerbread! Definitely worth checking out if you need some respite from life's busyness.P.s. if you're an antiquer, or just like old knick knacks, there's not only a great antique shop in town but a 10 minute drive away in Andover there's a street lined with about 5 very unique shops.

Stayed here while we were in town for a wedding. It is exactly what you want from a B&B. We had to book last minute, and not only was the owner super helpful, she also set up an early check in for us. The rooms are really cozy, the staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was really good. It was a lovely stay and we will certainly book it again if we ever need to spend a night in that area!
