Today I went to check this place out and it's amazing. There were 3 female techs who were very polite, informative and helpful. Dr. Blease is also excellent at what he does. I will definitely be back!

We had to put down Titan our dog that we had for 17years. They were very understanding and patient. And did not rush the procedure so that he was comfortable. It wasn’t a scheduled appt . But because of Titans pain that he was in they squeezed him in . I am very grateful .

Any organization that saves animals is 5 stars, just be ready for the smell when you arrive. It is the smelliest, dirtiest shelter ive had the displeasure of being in. The smell of filth and piss wont leave your nose for 5 minutes after you leave.

Popped in yesterday looking for a pet for my 6 year old grand daughter. Staff was very helpful. I left with a well cared for bunny named gidean. He is already part of the family and loved.

Absolutely horrible experience there. We had to put our cat down. I had the worst experience there. My first issue was after Dr Blease gave her the first shot I was told to stand at the door way and not to let her run out of the room. Dr left the room to let the first shot take effect. When he came back into the room I was instructed to hold my cats paw so it would work like a tourniquet so he would get a vein. Before the doctor was able to insert the needle into her arm to euthanize her, my appointment was interrupted by a gentleman coming into the exam room and discussing what work the doctor wanted him to do, and that he owed him money for work he had already did. THIS WAS ALL GOING ON IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PETS EUTHANASIA. I will never suggest them, or use them ever again after this experience.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I called to ask a simple question, and then I'm getting screamed at over the phone. This place is so extremely filthy. I love my pup so much and I'm so glad I got him out of that place. The ladies that work in the vet office have always been kind. But the adoption center....rude, unpleasant, and loud for absolutely no reason. I hate this place.

We adopted out dog there because I knew the place was terrible and felt I had to rescue the dog from Common Sense for Animals. Because I knew their bad history, the first question I asked was.."Has this dog had a physical from Dr. Blease, the vet here, and is it healthy?" The worker there said, "Yes, of course!". As we were putting the dog into our car, then I was given papers from the South where the dog came from that indicated the dog had heartworm! I questioned them about this and was told that the dog had one shot for heartworm from the shelter in the South and only needs one more shot. In other words, CSA did not treat the dog at all knowing it had heartworm and needed treatment! We immediately took the dog to our own vet who informed us that because they did not treat the. dog with the second shot at all and in the required timeline for it to be effective, we had to start the procedure all over again. So, five months of meds, shots and $2K+ later, our dog, who we love dearly, is finally over the threat of death from the horrible heartworm that the horrible Dr. Blease did not treat!! Please, if you. do go there to adopt a pet and have issues, report this terrible excuse for a shelter to the NJ Veterinary Board and Consumer Fraud Dept!

My kitten had a cold that they told me was just conjunctivitis. My kitten was seen by their Vet who did not disclose the cold even when I went over to ask the Vet myself also and still didn't tell me. I have another cat at home I don't want to get sick which I told them when I was adopting and asked about her health. It is not my kittens fault so I still adopted, but I do wish they were more honest with me.

My dog went to this place all his life and he usually sees a great vet who is very patient and understanding. However, there was an emergency for my dog who was 14 and he had to see Dr. Robert R. Blease. I told the doctor my dog is old and does not want to be on the table. He proceeded to grab my dog and perform on the table and push his arm in my dogs neck and covered his eyes with a blanket. It was painful to watch and my dog ended up dying in his hands on the table and we had to watch. The nurses were so kind and empathetic but Dr. Blease did not care that my dog died and asked if he was aggressive towards children. He was a terrible vet and inconsiderate and I don't know how is employed. He clearly has very little compassion for animals and his patients.

As a local who's lived in Washington I've heard so many not great things about common sense.I adopted my kitty Mia (Bronson) from this shelter. She came with giardia, respiratory infection, and conjotivitis... Fast forward to adopting 40 dollar deposit goes down and you have a month to get them fixed, however my vet said wait. They were trying to withhold the funds from me and I fought Dave on it considering my cat was so sick it wasn't safe to put her under the knife. They don't do background checks. All the pets come out sick. Adopt at your own risk, you will get a sick pet. But it's one less pet in terrible homing conditions....More story's about this shelter...One of my sister's ex's cats got out, went Missing, 6 month went by we called this shelter and many vets in the area during that time, no sign. My sister found him on Facebook and they said they adopted him from common sense...He was shipped from North Carolina? Mind you Bugs was about 6 or 7 years old... But that's super suspicious. They went to the shelter themselves to get it arranged and basically said it's not there problem he wasn't claimed. However, they dropped off a paper with a photo and contact information.Every pet I find adopted from here has food aggression issues (more so in dogs) cats with all the things I listed above. It's not clean, it's not great. Dr. Belise isn't a reliable vet. It's all about them getting their money and not taking care of the animals. It's very sad because there are so many pets getting adopted out of that. Please...There's no information on who's adopting them because there is no background checks, there's no checking to see if they have any abusive record on animals on them, not sure if they're going to a safe home....It's great that the process is easy to adopt, however, for the safety of the animals, they're probably better off getting adopted. However, they're crazies out there who are probably getting away with adopting pets from here and this place is not holding any accountability whatsoever and the sick part is state run.....Disgusting

Shady. Only standing because they're the only shelter around. If you've had no bad experiences here, you haven't been around it much, or not long enough. People will verbally & socially attack you just for saying something bad about this place. I wonder if they can remove my Google review like they removed my Facebook comments... The local ACO has even investigated, but his hands are tied because they're the only place he can take animals to locally. It's a damn shame the community can't come together & get a better shelter together. I would love to volunteer. Just don't have the money to get one set up...

I have experienced over 20 years of excellent vet care with the greatest compassion for 20 plus animals and just lost the last one. Dr. Blease has always been an advocate for the best care for all of my pets. Thank you for the love. ??
