They have a late/no show policy in place of a $25 fee but my stylist Lorraine went over my scheduled appointment time by an hour AND took a lunch break to chat with other people. I walked out. Stop creating chaos with your scheduling and wasting people's time.

The rest of the staff seems lovely and kind. However Sharon who did my touch up to my perm ignored my request to cover my edges which are thin and a big insecurity of mine. While cutting my hair I told her not to cut any in the front because I wanted my edges covered. She told me not to worry about it. When it was done and my edges were extra exposed because of how she cut it. I told her I was not happy with it. When I didn't like it and ask her the price she told me she was charging me more than I expected. I expected to pay 30 dollars less and asked her where the extra costs came. And then she became LOUD and DISRESPECTFUL. As loud as she could she said I have brittle hair. She said I don't care of my hair. She said she can't cover my edges because I have none.she said she had to do an extra conditioner that I didn't ask for because my hair was so brittle. (mind you I had mousse in my hair that I let get hard, not brittle. Thats just how I styled it the night before. ) Just trying to humiliate me as much as possible. I came to her quietly and she blew it up. Her coworkers had to tell her to take the conversation to the back. And as an older woman she had been talking down to me the last 2 times I had come to her, but I just figured as an older person that's just how she talks and I didn't make a big deal about it even though it bothered me. But today I was HUMILIATED and treated with DISRESPECT in a way I never experienced.All the cutting and she still cut my hairline completely unevenly.

I never like to leave negative comments, but this woman needs to be informed about her actions. . I tried my best to have this issue resolved and I’m hoping that Lorraine the stylist will do a better job of being transparent with potential new clients. The stylist Lorraine did my hair. She didn’t disclose that she doesn’t do my type of hairstyle on a normal basis and after she finished my hair looked terrible. She charged a higher amount then originally discussed and when I called to let her know how disgusted I was with my hairstyle she nonchalantly brushed it off and said she refunded me back $30. This is a learning experience for me. I will never ever walk into an Unfamiliar hair salon for a hair service. I figured since it was a natural hair salon they could handle my natural texture. The picture below is what my hair looked like after she did it. Today the second day, my hair is a total mess. I called her to see if she could wash and curl instead and she said she was booked and my hair looks bad because it’s breaking which if that were the case, she never disclosed to me beforehand. This was my first time using this salon, I must say I had a wonderful experience. The staff members are very professional and they you feel welcome like part of the family and the pricing for services are awesome. Thank you Shante you done a wonderful job on my hair. I believe the older lady that cut and colored my hair last year was named Sharon. I showed her a picture and she was sure that she could replicate it. Needless to say she was not. I didn't complain because I try to stay positive and just took it as a lesson learned not to ever go back there. I figured my hair would grow back. There is a section in the back that has been stunted. It simply will not grow. I just ask that you be honest if you are unable to provide a service. As a new customer I took your word. Shame on me. If you have not successfully completed certain styles especially cut and color, be transparent with your customers. Please do better

Tjada (pronounced Jada) is my stylist and he is phenomenal. I love the entire shop though, it’s like a family feel but very professional. All the stylist are wonderful, dedicated, knowledgeable and committed. They work efficiently, work together, are on time, very communicative and welcoming. I don’t see myself going anywhere else for my hair even when/if I ever take my locs out. I’m so grateful my friend recommended me here because now I recommend every and everyone when they ask. I've never had a bad hair experience here and I've been to nearly everyone in the shop for one service or another over more than a decade and following them from Hackensack to Teaneck. Shontae, the shop owner, keeps a community feel and fun atmosphere conducive to bringing your child/ren for services. I've started locs here twice (once from scratch and more recently with extensions by Tjada), and have felt completely comfortable leaving my hair in their hands for both hair care and good styling advice. They've never steered me wrong. Not into locs? That's okay - blow outs, naturals, up-dos, or a tight fade - they do it all.

The salon had a inexperienced stylist who did not know how to do natural hair,if you have coarse thick natural hair she will not know what to do with it. The stylist is very rough and will leave you natural hair in tangles. If you have textured hair do not go to her. If you want braids, haircut or locs redone they do a good job with that. She is old school so I am sure she is not used to natural and being patient so avoid if you can.
