If you are looking for an honest, knowledgeable model train store, don't bother going anywhere else! I had an old set of Lionel trains that I wanted to sell but was not sure of its value. The owner's honesty is very apparent! He explained why the set had no value, showed me around the shop, and ended up giving me an inexpensive new train set as a trade! Great place for newly interested and longtime train enthusiasts. Employees know all there is to know about model trains!

The guys that actually repair the trains and work there are friendly and professional. THE OWNER OF THE PLACE IS HORRIBLE to deal with I had a train repaired there and it was a nightmare took 6 months to get it back and the owner wanted to charge me because he sent it to Bachmann to be repaired without consulting me first .when I refusedto pay shipping costs to BachmannThen he got arrogant and said you should have bought a real train that mine was junk . I'll never go back there

I bought a pre-owned K-line heavyweight passenger car from the TrainDoctor and it was shipped immediately and arrived very quickly. The condition of the car was actually very good, much better than I expected. It was well packed for shipping and arrived in great shape. Also, the price was very fair. Based on this first experience, I will buy from them again.

Recently I sent you my father’s childhood prewar Lionel 10E for a full restoration. Having never done this before I had my concerns and fears. My biggest concern or worry was what would I get back. The Lionel 10E car was in tough shape. Stored in the basement for decades and kids rough handling of the set had really taken its toll. The paint was chipped and faded. Parts were missing, bent or nothing worked. It didn't even run.My expectations were low.The finished work however was AWSOME, INCREDIBLE, and AMAZING!!!I was and still am, stunned at the level of craftsmanship and detailing. This train will never see storage or a basement ever again.

I contacted this store via e-mail on 12/11/22 requesting a quote / estimate to repair a MTH aquarium box car, a MTH K-Line Handcar, a MTH Box Car with a voltage meter and looking for a part for a MTH WorkHouse. I sent a detailed e-mail with photos explaining what I needed done with each item. I was just looking for a general idea of cost before I sent them $30 per item for repair work. By the way, the PayPal option via their website does not work that well. I think you have to be logged into PayPal before you click the link. In any event, the next day, 12/12 I received a one sentence response that they do not provide warranty service on any product that they did not sell. I wrote them back immediately and advised that I was only looking for one item fixed under a warranty and that I was still interested in an estimate for the other two items and whether they could get me the part for item 4. It's now 12/19 and they never responded. O scale trains are an expensive hobby and there are only so many potential customers for a niche market. Apparently, The Train Doctor does not need my business.

The store is cute and they do know a ton about trains. The price are good too, fairly competitive. Taking off 1 star, because they got a lot of things and it’s hard to find things, because the way it’s all displayed is a bit crowded. Nonetheless, it’s an awesome stop with a kid to find a nice train!

I brought my Lionchief Plus 0-6-0 Hudson Milwaukee Road steam engine to the Train Doctor Shop for repair because the sounds and rear auto decoupler suddenly stopped working. After a few days they called mecand said I needed a new electronic board because part of the original board was bad. But they told me none were available and it could not be fixed. I picked up my engine and paid them the $30 plus the tax and brought it home. I did some research on line about this problem and the weak point was the wiring to the Draw-Bar Coupler. 8 removed the heat shrink off the coupler and found to broken off wires. I soldered them back on and my engine is like new again. This is something that the Train Doctor should of easily picked up on and repaired, but they just told me it was unrepairable... So i am glad that i fixed the problem, but i am totally disappointed in the So-Called Train Doctor...

A long way to travel, 35 miles, but worth the trip. Found some good buys at reasonable prices.
