The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) is South Jersey's oldest and largest no-kill shelter, offering much more than just a shelter. AWA's vision is to create a compassionate community, serving as a resource for pet lovers and owners in need, and achieving zero tolerance for companion animals suffering and dying in the area. AWA works to prevent the rehoming of pets whenever possible, providing affordable pet healthcare, a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, a pet food pantry, and behavior training resources. The organization has an adoption center, an animal clinic, a store, and an education room available for events. Customers praise the excellent environment for the dogs, with kennels not facing each other to prevent barking. Visitors have had wonderful experiences with the caring and helpful staff, whether adopting a pet or using the clinic services. While some customers expressed disappointment about the ability to put pets on hold, overall, the AWA is described as a fantastic organization making a positive impact in the community.
