You have to be patient to contact the company for service. However the service person, Matt, in my case arrived on time and did a courteous and professional service. Two thumbs up for the service quality!!

I have a condo that's been vacant for six months. During this time period my water bill has been astronomical. I called and asked why. They had no explanation except to say that I probably didn't realize how much water I was using, even though I used NONE. I just turned off the water so I didn't have to deal with this awful company. Also, if you call, expect to stay on hold for an hour. I wish we had a choice as to what water company to use. Since they have a monopoly I'm sure they don't care.

My sister paid her bill, has the bank statement to prove it and these guys still claim they weren't paid. Is bank fraud normal for that business?

This is the only company that will cut your water off for the bill being 2 weeks late. The bill was due on 8/31, and on 9/18 they were at the door cutting the water off. I've never had this happen with any other company. When I lived in Vineland NEW JERSEY, my landlord didn't pay the water bill for 1 whole year, they never shut it off (diff water company). It's disrespectful.

I moved in and the water was already ON. The landlord said to call American Water and switch the account over so that I could pay the bill. Simple. I do this every time I move. I called, gave my name, they gave me my new account number, THEN THEY TURNED MY WATER OFF. They didn't say they were going to turn it off over the phone. They just sent someone and did it. I called the emergency line and the lady told me that they were sending someone to turn it on tomorrow. They said my service "starts tomorrow." I told her that when I made my account, I specified TODAY as the start of service. She said, "well, it takes a day for them to come out and turn the water on anyway." Wait, what? You sent someone to turn it off IMMEDIATELY after I made my account. Why did they send someone to turn it off, just to send someone again to turn it on the next day? I had an appointment with a plumber I had to cancel and I'm on my way to the store for jugs of water for showering and cooking and flushing the toilet! Welcome to New Jersey! If only I could give you less than one star and choose a different company.....OH wait I can't do either. American Water, the bureaucratic monopoly that doesn't give a sh*t because you don't have a choice anyway.
