Used to go to Aldi multiple times a week, now I barely go once a week. Unless I need a cart full of groceries it makes no sense waiting in a long line to checkout. They got rid of self check out and only have one cashier ringing people up most of the time. So the line is typically overcrowding an entire aisle. Aldi if you’re going to remove self checkout, hire more cashiers.

I love Aldi, but getting them rid of self checkout has made it a huge pain to shop here. There's always a long line now and I usually go here for just a few things so it's really unfortunate and unnecessary to have to wait longer than I'm actually shopping. The employees do a good job but it just never seems there are enough for the number of people. If they bring back self checkout I'll change this to 5 stars.

Very clean and organized store. Honestly I’ve done the math and a weak worth of groceries comes in about 30% less than ShopRite. Just make sure you have a quarter to get a cart.

Extremely poor customer experience.
I used to love this store - until they removed self service check out. Now, everyone is forced to wait for an open register with a clerk - and they close any extra lanes as fast as they can, so the lanes constantly back up. Today, I had a 10 minute wait in line after shopping for 3 minutes....when standing in line is 3 times the amount of time I need to select my items, something is wrong. What is not wrong is the big beautiful new ShopRite just another mile or so east on US 22. My understanding is that Aldi, nationwide, decided to remove thyself check-out lanes because of theft. I do wonder if their planned savings included the losses they will incur due to annoyed honest customers deciding to go to other stores.

Very rude forced customer service. I’ve been coming here since I moved to Watchung and this trip I was surprised to see the check out had been closed to one register, and no self check-out options. The cashier was angry, manager flustered when they realized my keys were attached to my “Aldi quarter” and they shamed me out the door while slamming my groceries in the cart.
They gave me a quarter to take my cart without leaving my keys, and I just gifted it to the next person. I will not be coming back to this location.

I hope this decision to get rid of self checkout is temporary!! No one wants to wait in long lines down the aisles! Think of the people in a rush, moms with crying kids etc!

Very clean. Very busy on a weekend. It's a hit and miss store. Prices are reasonable.
