Don’t do your taxes here. I don’t know how they scammed me for not getting my 2000 child tax return but when I called about it. They said they have nothing to do with that but when I filed with them. They kept reassuring me that everything will come. I HIGHLY recommend not to do your taxes here.

Originally, I was working with someone in the Pompton Lakes office which turned out to be terrible. My case with H&R Block was escalated and a senior tax pro in this office reached out to me to review my taxes. She was prompt for a span of two weeks with calling with updates when she said she would then left me a confusing voice-mail yesterday about leaving me paperwork for estimated taxes to the second state I had to file in where I owed. I no longer live in the area, which she knew, and she was supposed to actually put in a request to the second state for the tax penalty fee for underpayment to be lifted which we discussed on every call. I called back 30 minutes later (I missed her call as I was in an appointment) and the receptionist said he would have her call me back. I heard nothing. I called again today and a different receptionist told me the senior tax pro was now off until late summer so she would have another tax pro reach out. She also was confused about the pro leaving me paperwork. So now I am waiting for a 3rd tax pro to call me which is beyond ridiculous.
I also did get the office manager for the other office reaching out to me when the case was escalated (it was closed the first time after she left me a voicemail and a different tax pro emailed me, both asking for times I could speak and not responding to my response 45 minutes later with times) and giving me her personal cell but she has been unresponsive from my text earlier this week. I just texted her again now but I have my doubts I will get a response.
I'm beyond frustrated at this point with the customer service at H&R Block and will never use them again. They are terrible with customer service. If I don't get a response shortly, I will dispute the charges for their services with my credit card company.

I’ve used Andrew “Andy” Bertone for the last 2 years, and he has been absolutely awesome. He’s super sweet, very knowledgeable, proactively gave me some great facts/tips on how to save on my taxes, and got things done extremely quickly!

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. There were several follow up actions that Beth Borenzweig committed to follow up on for our 2023 taxes and she never did. When New Jersey required the back up before issueing our refund, Beth committed to send it and never did. Since then we've followed up with a different manager and still have not had any luck getting someone at H&R Block Wayne to follow up. H&R Block says they stand behind their service but they do not.

Very disappointed with the service provided at the Lake Hiawatha and Wayne Offices. I will never use them again. My father had used H&R block for many years. He passed away this past January. I went to H&R block for continuity and because they are supposed to be the tax experts. I brought a death certificate, court testamentary, will, and all of his paperwork to file. We had sold his house the previous November. My tax "specialist" needed to consult with 2 other "specialists" to figure out how to document the sale of the house even though we did not owe any capital gains tax. The assured me that I can file on behalf of my deceased father and since he lived past Dec 31, 2023 I did not need addition paperwork and was able to file electronically and request the refund to my bank account. I filed March 9, 2024.
The return got stuck in the received but not processed status for months. I finally called the IRS and after hours on the phone they told me I should have filed additional paperwork (death certificate, court testamentary, and form 1310) and that H&R block should have known how to do this. I faxed the appropriate documents to the IRS and called 1 month later and they could not tell me if it was received or not. So I refaxed and mailed the paperwork. I called today and was told to wait 6-8 more weeks.
I called H&R block to complain on 7-16-24 and the first representative I spoke to told me that H&R block is only responsible for filing the paperwork and it is up to the customer to know the appropriate forms. He hung up on me. I called back and spoke with a very nice representative Yazr. He tried to initiate a refund, but the computer system would not let him. He felt I was entitled to a refund. He set me up with an appointment to speak with Beth Borenzweig at the Wayne office. The next day 7-17-24, I received a call from Beth and she said that the “tax expert” doing my taxes should have known a from 1310 was required for a deceased. Which means the entire office did not know as 3 people were assisting at the time. Beth said she would need manager approval and the manager was on vacation for a few days. She said I should receive an e-mail asking for details on how I would like my refund and it would take 1-2 weeks.
2 weeks went by and I did not hear anything. I called Beth and she told me that the refund was denied. I was frustrated that she could not call me to update me on the status. I told her I wanted the matter escalated to a manager and wanted my refund. She said she would file a complaint. A week went by and I sent an e-mail to Beth asking for the status. She replied that my refund was denied.
I asked to be escalated to a manager because I was tired of the run around. I then found a # for corporate and spoke with a very nice woman named Marina. Marina understood my situation, took the time to listen to me repeat the whole situation again. She escalated to her tier 2 team and created a new case. She said I should receive a call in a few days. Fingers crossed.
Because of their error, my father’s tax return is delayed. I cannot settle his estate. I have money tied up in an estate account that I cannot access and I’ve wasted countless hours and energy trying to get this resolved. I paid $420 for H&R block to make my life hell. They were supposed to guide me through this process as they are the “Tax Experts” Instead, I could have done better myself using Turbo Tax.
I will never use them again, and would never recommend them to anyone.

H&R Block upholds a very high standard of Professionalism and customer service.
During the busy tax season that ended, we at H&R Block never rush through customer tax docs. Hence clients who are late on schedule are advised to drop off tax docs for later processing. We value everyone’s time to maximise productivity. We seek your understanding and patronage.
We are open to serve those clients who missed out during the earlier tax season.
Welcome and expect the Best from us. H&R Block

I was very dissatisfied with the services I was provided. My tax preparer, Beth, made errors which caused my refund to be rejected, which was okay at first. However, the lack of communication from her was not okay. I found out my tax was rejected 2 weeks after it was "filed". The only reason I found out it was rejected was by calling the state. Beth did not inform me of the rejection. When I called for an explanation, she said "I'm sorry you didn't recieve my message". Even if that was true, as a person I'm paying services for, why would you not keep calling until you speak to the customer. I would have just waited and waited for my tax return not knowing it was rejected. I asked for a refund for the services since she never filed my taxes. Now it's been almost 2 weeks and I have yet to hear from her or recieve my refund for the services that she didn't complete.

Wow, never have I ever received such poor customer service. Mr. Sathyamurthi should never be allowed to work with the public. I have been dealing with HR Block for 25 years, he spent and wasted 25 minutes telling me that he had another appointment and would not be able to finish the taxes. When I asked if we could just start. He continued to argue. Absolutely egregious. We walked out after bickering with nothing. The person assisting at the counter Liz, was the only reason I may ever come back to HR Block. She stated that even she finds him to be arrogant and the customers do not like dealing with him. I guess I will find somewhere else going forwards.

I’m kind of confused how such a well known company is so all over the place. I scheduled in Hackettstown, got a call from a tax expert in Wayne, was willing to file through their store and use her but I was unable to assign her to the documents needed for my virtual appointment. Day of appointment comes around and I don’t get a call or text from her, rather a random guy at that office that had no clue I was in communication with the other tax expert. Whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
