The Whippany Railway Museum is a great family experience, especially for children, offering a fascinating journey into New Jersey’s rail history. It is an incredibly cool, hands-on experience where kids can look up at steam trains taller than a building and explore inside restored and original passenger cars and rolling stock. The museum itself features well-preserved trains, vintage locomotives, cabooses, and engaging exhibits with tons of interesting memorabilia, photos, and model trains. The staff and volunteers are incredible, super friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable, working with great enthusiasm. They provide detailed tours, share stories, and answer questions, making it a charming and educational destination. Visitors especially enjoy the scenic train ride, which is a relaxing journey with commentary, perfect for both kids and adults. It is an absolute gem for train lovers, history buffs, or anyone seeking a unique and wholesome weekend outing, transporting you back in time to a bygone era. The museum also has a nice gift shop with great souvenirs. It is a memorable experience and the best five bucks you can spend, well worth the visit for a fun and affordable family day.
Really a great family experience, specially for the children. Don't expect to much from what it is. I would recommend it if you are not picky and find defects in all. Great staff by the way and great performance.
