“They happened to have a table set up on the boardwalk for the last day of the season. We bought a small bag of milk chocolate caramallows. They were so good, we went back to buy a box!”

“This location of Douglass Fudge is a satellite location to the one in Wildwood. Although there is another fudge and candy store on the 96th Street shopping district, they both offer vastly different shopping experiences. Douglass Fudge, which you spot on the corner as you enter the island, is the classy, upscale shopping experience. The store has plenty of open space to browse around. Many of their popular candies come prepackaged in giftable boxes. I liked their system for trying and buying the fudge. They already had a tray prepared for employees to cut samples from. The fudge for sale is in 1/6th lb bars, so 3 bars = a half pound box. They still weigh it, but you have a good idea of what you're getting. Beware of getting any of the fudge with a vanilla base - this is why I took one star off my rating. All the vanilla fudge has or shortly develops a strong taste that could politely be described as boozy but is more accurately probably the taste of the alcohols in the sugars breaking down. I did find the texture here to be slightly creamier than the other local fudge shop. I would strongly recommend trying each flavor you're interested in before you buy. This may be the newer fudge shop in town, but it's still worth checking out before you pass any judgments on it. Who knows, maybe you'll even like it.”

“Tucked away in an industrial complex at the Cape May Airport is this actual soap factory with a small retail space. It's here that they make amazing olive oil based soaps, shampoo bars, bath salts and sugar scrubs. They will slice off a piece of any soap you want at your request, any the sugar scrub bar is fun! The staff are pleasant and informative, though they gave me space to explore rather than hovering. Lastly, I met Gandalf the Multicolored Parrot, who said hello enthusiastically and also bye bye. The owner told me she was lonely at home and here she gets to chat with everyone. They have a retail space in downtown Cape May also. I always wonder if a product really is locally made - in the case of A Place on Earth it definitely is. I'll be back next time I'm in town.”

“We like the fudge kitchen. It's a beach staple. The fudge is really good the taffy is decent. As most things down the shore it's actually an expensive place You can find better deals on the basic candy at other places. But you really go for the fudge.”
