Review is not based on seeing the attraction. We tried to make a reservation online for a tour, which their website had suggested. (I can see they have removed that now.) We didn’t hear back from them after about 2 months, we called, and they said that they don’t take reservation but are first come first serve for the tours. Since we were driving from NJ and didn’t want to miss this, we showed up this past Saturday morning a few minutes before 9 am (official opening time), we waited until 9:25 am and still no one was there, even if they are supposed to open at 9 am? We met a security guard at a small building close to visitor center who didn’t know why no one was there. Since we didn’t know if they were going to open at all (and neither did the security guard) and we didn’t have all day to wait, so we left very disappointed.

We visited on a cold, windy, rainy day. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. This out of the way place is worth visiting.

This was an incredible experience! Jeremy, our tour guide, was so knowledgable and answered every question that got asked. The tour itself is a short walk through the pueblo where you can see original dwellings and buildings. Please be respectful! If you are asked not to film or photograph something, please respect that…especially the people. Be kind and enjoy this glimpse into Acoma life!

Don’t miss the kind ladies selling their handmade pottery and jewelry. We had the amazing opportunity to have conversations with them as we purchased our authentic Acoma pottery. They taught us so much about their culture and craft. The cultural center and tour were great and informative. We are so thankful to Jeremy, the guide, for a great narration despite having a sore throat! Good from the cafeteria was great! Will definitely visit again if in the area.

Those who wish to visit the city itself must check in at the cultural center, where you can get on a tour. I didn’t know this in advance, so when we got there we had to wait for a while for the next tour. You could check their schedule on the center’s website, though it doesn’t seem like you can order tickets in advance on the website itself? It’s a cool tour regardless. It’s a beautiful place and please be respectful of rules.

Do not leave a penny to this community. They kicked me out of the area, yelling at me, threatening to arrest me…What did I do? Just continue driving through a road without any sign or notification to be private, like 20 meter beyond a fictitious point where it starts to be private to the native town residents, given their fictitious laws (yes, I read the real ones).Exact words: “You don’t belong to this road!!! I will arrest you, do you want to get arrested? Get out of here now!!”Just disgusting. Those people just do not deserve what they have.

Definitely worth a visit. Amazing place. Brandon was excellent as our guide. The visit from the cultural center to Acoma mesa was not the full one because of safety concerns. The sky was threatening and it did unload not long after we got back.I have to mention the café. Best frybread ever.

Beware!! The website says they are open Weds-Sun. We got here Weds morning and the sign outside the entrance says they are only open Fri-Sun. I called the number and the answering machine message says they are open Thurs-Sun. We spoke to the security people and they said this happens all the time. Very frustrating, especially as it would be totally avoidable if the information on their website was correct. There were other people here as well, equally confused.

The tour was not to be missed! We learned so much about the history and lives of the Acoma. They are keeping their history and culture alive and vital. The walk is up and down, rocky but my husband with his cane managed well. Our guide was knowledgeable and very informative. The vendors were delightful! We chatted with several of them and learned much there as well. I gave 4 stars because they opened at 9:30, not 9 as posted, and the museum section never opened.

After driving am hour and a half to get there, I found out I didn't see that they closed Mondays and Tuesdays. So we drive back on Wednesday, only to find they decided to close early. 6 hours of driving. Really glad the drive was so beautiful... Been here before, was so looking forward to seeing it again. Hope to have another opportunity...

It's been about 20 years since I previously visited Sky City, and it is obvious that the pueblo has invested significantly in its tourism offering. The visitor centre is really impressive, with an interesting (though fairly small) museum exhibit. Traders sell their wares in the courtyard outside. A bus takes visitors around the city on guided tours - big shout out to Jeremy, who was eloquent and fabulous. The tour really helped explain the ancient and modern history of the city. Afterwards, we returned to the cultural center and ate frybread in the café. It is no exaggeration to say this was the best meal we had during our stay in New Mexico. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately they weren’t open on a Wednesday. Make sure to check the opening days and hours before driving there. It must be a beautiful place to visit though and very impressive. We are glad we stopped there as even looking up was unbelievably beautiful. We will be back for sure and next time a bit better prepared so we can book a tour.
