Rented a car from Avis. The car was clean and mechanically sound. We drove from Albuquerque NM to Palm Springs CA and back. Check I and check out was quick and efficient.

Avis asked what car I wanted but they don't even have a similar car. We try harder? Don't have a clue. This was the second and last time I will ever rent from Avis

Experience in Albuquerque was bad. Staff were disorganized at the check in counter and worse at the car pick up point. Options for insurance were not clearly explained and we ended up paying and extra $180.00. We wanted a compact sedan and were given a SUV. Overall a very poor experience.

Vehicle was dirty when I picked it up. I returned it before 10pm, when it was due back, but nobody was there to check it in. I was charged for an extra day and late fees, which theyve never refunded after 2 lengthy calls with customer service. The rental was for 2 days, during which I drove a total of 27 miles and returned with full tank (more than was in it at pick up), plus cleaned the dirty interior, so the extra charges are disappointing to say the least.The Avis staff on site when I picked up the vehicle was friendly, helpful and seemed to be working efficiently, as the line moved fairly quickly, so that part was good and no issues there.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had with Avis! Due to a very late flight arrival, I had called the office the day before to verify enough cars were available and offices were open past midnight. Despite being a preferred member for many years, when I arrived to pick up my car, no assignment was made. There were 14 people at the counter awaiting car assignments. The worker said his manager had left him there by himself and no one else would come in to work. Each of the preferred members that already had reservations had to wait for more than an hour to get our car assigned. At last another employee arrived to help (again 1 am). The people at the counter were nice and helpful and very apologetic. But no one wants to be waiting for more than an hour in line past midnight to get a car assignment. Miserable time when assignments could have been completed earlier in the day.

I just returned the vehicle and filled the fuel tank before dropping off. I got out of the vehicle dropping off the car, they did their check and i was told i was good to go. Never said that i would be charged a fuel fee. Only now recieved an email receipt informing of the charge after i am home hours later. Never avis again.

I’m just going to be honest with this car company “Avis” is cheated out of the customer! You got no money back when you reserve the vehicle!We paid Over hundreds dollars for reservation!, when we’re turned in the vehicle!, they will not give you back the money you paid extra to reserve, for instance, prepaid $456!, for 4 days it’s come out $ 344.00, left $114. Left! They will not refund you back!… never again will use you again! And I’ll tell all my friends and family about this company!!?????

Rented from Avis at Albuquerque airport. Apparently even as an Avis preferred customer they failed to anticipate my arrival and had no vehicles available. After 35 minutes of waiting, I received a Ford Expedition which for some may have seemed to be an upgrade. For someone who needed to fit in a tight parting lot at my office it was a headache. I was told if I wanted a sedan, I may wait an additional hour. I left with the Expedition and very unhappy about Avis’s poor planning and overbooking.

Agent only wanted to upsell a car we did not reserve. Car we reserved wasn’t available so we were only offered a smaller car which would barely hold our luggage. Vehicle was 5 years old, had worn wiper blades with rubber hanging off, no washer fluid and the engine belts squealed when the car was started. Very poor experience.

I was not aware that the rental was charged per mile, and was charged a big amount for the mileage I used. Yes there is a small line in the reservation confirmation saying 0.2c/mile, but other than that, I was never told/notified in any form that this rental is charged on a per mile basis. I've never done a rental that's milage based, so I had the assumption that it was unlimited mileage. AVIS should definitely do better in informing customers about this!!!
