Rented a car in ABQ for 4 days. The price was better than competitors. The pick-up was as easy as any other rental agency, maybe a little faster, actually. I've rented from most of the top companies. The car was clean and in great shape with about 12,000 miles on it. Everything worked fine. Had not problem at all. Drop off was a breeze. Highly recommended.

Payless Car Rental was fast, efficient, and the car was great. Other than getting a fuel charge when the mileage for the fuel in said more at dropoff than pick up, I was satisfied with the car I received. All in all, a good experience.

I recently rented a car from Payless Car Rental and it was a quick painless experience. The price was really affordable and the car I got was really nice and well kept. Overall very pleased.

Long wait, horrible service, given wrong carThis was the worst car rental pick-up experience I've ever had. There was a LONG queue (about 20 people) and only 1 person at the desk to begin with. It took him 20 minutes JUST TO CHECK IN THE FIRST PERSON. Finally another guy came out to help, but then the first guy left. Everything was EXCEEDINGLY SLOW and their computers were having issues. Neither of them even acknowledged the many other people who had now been waiting in line for over half an hour. Neither of them were personable or gave ANY kind of customer service to us. They were rude and gave the impression that we were a big problem to them. All in all, it took me NEARLY AN HOUR after arriving at the rental car counter to complete my check-in and receive my car, which is ridiculous. To top it off, I wasn't even given the car I booked. I was given a huge pick-up truck, and I did NOT want a truck or a big vehicle. So, way too long getting the vehicle, extremely poor customer service, and I didn't even get any sort of vehicle that I wanted. Will never rent a car through Payless again.

The car I rented was great, and I had the best customer service ever. The agent who worked with me at Albuquerque airport rental, her name was Addie, was out of this world. (Please promote her!) She was friendly, funny, thoughtful, and so patient - she went overboard to find me the best car I could have considering the altitude and hilly conditions of New Mexico. She gave me suggestions of places to go as well. A great experience.

I have to hand it to the professionalism of Felicia at the Albuquerque airport Payless/Budget rental counter who handled a tough situation last night. The Payless computer crashed and the couple immediately in front of me became incredibly nasty with her as she tried to work through the issue (after they claimed to be fastpass members). As she continued to work the issue, they became increasingly louder and nastier with her. She held her composure and professionalism despite their repeated verbal attacks. My only complaint is that I was not able to talk to her supervisor as the couple threatened to “have her job” over the computer crash; the phone number listed took me to a call center that could not connect me to the local office.

Just about the most unhelpful and rude staff I’ve had the displeasure of dealing with. Wasted over an hour dealing with these people, and didn’t even get the car.

Once you get to the desk it's fast and friendly service. Returning the vehicle was also fast for us as well

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. There is normally only one person working the counter. So if there are six customers ahead of you in line that means you will stand in line for at least one hour. Also, they will pad your bill with extra charges. Like a $60 “miscellaneous fee”.There’s no excuse for these idiots having one employee at the desk.

Absolute WORST RENTAL CAR COMPANY IN THE WORLD. Don’t waste your time. I had a medical emergency and I wasn’t going to be able to make the 2:30pm deadline to return the car and was a couple hours away from where I got the car so I wanted to extend a day. It’s now been 5 hours of talking to worthless customer service people who keep telling me to call someone else.

Worst car rental company ever. How they haven't been shut down by the BBB is beyond me. Lemme tell you. I rented a car from them for 24 hours. That was the EASY part. I had to drive a couple hours away from ABQ because my mom had a medical emergency. So I called to let them to let them know I needed an extension for 24 hours. When you call the local "505 247 6705" local number, it automatically connects you to their national customer service line. When I try to extend it with them, they say, "we can't extend it. You have to go to where you picked it up." Then I say, "this is the 18th time I've told you and your coworkers, IM NOT NEAR WHERE I PICKED IT UP. THERE WAS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY." Then they reply, "lemme give you the local number." Then I reply, "Whenever I call the local number, it connects with you guys!" Then I usually get hung up on. After 5 hours of trying to extend it, someone said, "Somebody from lost prevention will be contacting you..... hopefully." Moral of the story.. something so easy turned into a s*** show. It is now the following morning. I'm heading to the airport to return the car. Wish me luck I don't get arrested for grand theft auto.

Pickup location is not clearly marked or labeled. Pickup is at the budget/avis desk. Rental associate at pickup counter was very unfriendly and unhelpful. We were charged way more than the "prepay" price we were quoted online.

Overall the rental worked well. However, we asked to postpone one hour the return (from 7pm to 8pm) and they wanted to charge us another day...Moreover, once we returned the car (we made it in time) I asked to the only guy at the desk (it was June 7th at 7:15) if he could call the Sheraton Hotel for pick us up. He asked for money and was very rude with me. I thought he was joking, but after the call he asked for money for real! For just one call!!!! Unfortunatly: 1) I could not make calls (my bad) 2) I was without cash. I will not rent the car from them anymore.
