Spent a couple hours after moving to ABQ trying to find a vet that was accepting patients. We liked this one in our neighborhood and they scheduled an appointment pretty quickly. The vet spent a long time with our dog, and was so thorough she caught that her microchip had fallen out. Unfortunately they don't make urgent appointments for their patients (book 2 weeks out), so don't expect care for anything besides vaccines.

We are new to Albuquerque and in need of a new vet. We found St. Francis and they are wonderful. My pup Harry came here for his neutering and they took such good care of him. He's healing perfectly and doesn't seem to be in much pain at all. I can tell they really care. We have found our new favorite vet, Dr. Larson! Thank you for taking care of Harry!

I recently got a new puppy and after reading the online reviews for several vet's I had decided to call St. Frances to set up my puppy's first wellness visit. The person that answered the phone was rude and didn't seem to have an interest to want to help me. As a new pet owner and a potential new client to this business you would think that whoever is the first contact for a business would be welcoming and informative not cold and treating people like just a number. I decided to take my business elsewhere because I want qulity caring for both my pet and myself.

Great place to bring your pets!! The staff and Dr. who looked at both my doggos took very good care of them as we cannot enter the facility. As I can tell they care for your animals. I do recommend anyone with cats or dogs to bring them here.

Looking at the reviews before starting, I noticed that there were only two for 2020, one bad and one good, and this sums up this clinic. In the past, they were great, like an old fashioned neighborhood vet - not fancy, but down-to-earth, caring, and affordable (like pre 2017). The clinic went offline a couple years back, came back online, has had several vets and other staff come and go. It is not the same as back in the day. Right now, I cannot recommend it. My experience and that of others I have talked to is this: 1) staff who are individually fine but that don't work as a team - you will get entirely different information from each one, and some are more friendly than others but each will make you feel like they are talking with completely different animals than your own, 2) current vets are not the greatest and one in particular has no social skills (for example, one who won't listen or let you ask questions and says things like "that's not my problem"), 3) unclear about what your cat or dog will need (goes back to #1 and includes the vets themselves) and not listening to what you want done - our pet still did not get the test we had requested and the vet argued about it - there was no valid reason not to do it and a good reason to do it, and we are now taking her to another vet to get it done, with no argument, 4) pet getting things not asked for (goes back to #1), 5) you will wait a really long time, in the parking lot - a routine exam took over an hour (if the wait is that long, they should let you know, so that you can go do errands, etc.) and this combined with #1 can this made me nervous about where she was and what was being done to her, 6) the practice is not doing certain procedures but don't tell you that when you book. This last one can cause you extra expense. For example, they are not doing dental work (not sure if this is pandemic related or that their dental specialist left to work elsewhere??), so if you take your pet in, get a physical, and they need dental work, you will need to take them somewhere else. Due to accreditation, the place you take them will AGAIN have to do a physical and charge you AGAIN. So you pay for 2 physicals. This alone makes this clinic not a good place to go right now. They should be telling ALL patients that when they are booking physicals, allowing them to go elsewhere, especially if they have: small dogs or old dogs and cats (both types of which commonly have dental issues) or any dog or cat with a history of dental issues. Post pandemic, maybe they will get their act together, but it's been bad for several years now. We've tried to hang in there, but will be going elsewhere.

In a time of sorrow, we contacted St. Francis when our sweet little Squeaky could no longer live peacefully or comfortably due to a cancer diagnosis... We gave them a call and they were able to take us in that same day. It was a painful day. We drove up and waited in the car for a lady to come and call us into the building. We walked in and were immediately sent to a room. They provided Squeaky with a small blanket, but I held her in my arms till they took her back. The lady was initially going to weigh her, but respected the fact that she was in too much pain to be weighed. The girl who took her back was so kind and gentle. She picked her up like she was picking up a newborn baby. She was very gentle and spoke to Squeaky very softly and kindly. That right there absolutely won my heart over and provided me with a huge sense of comfort. I would really like to thank her for loving my baby like her own. She is a true gem. She brought my girl back and gently placed her little carrier and explained the next steps to us. The vet came in and asked if we needed more time.. We said our final goodbyes and they completed the procedure. The vet did her best to speak kind words and comfort us during this sorrowful time. They gave us as much time as we needed to spend with her and then my mom had the girl help her put Squeaky back in her box. They let us keep the blanket and we were able to take our baby back home to be buried. Today we received a sympathy card in the mail from the clinic. That was beyond kind. At a time like this it provided a major feeling of comfort in my heart. I want to thank the people of St. Francis.

The staff there took great care of my dog Mia. They diagnosed her with right sided heart failure and did everything they could to make her comfortable. Their expertise and caring was much appreciated. After Mia passed away they all sent me a very special card that they all signed.Thank you all so much. Susan A.

We had hoped to establish care for our dog at St. Francis. They vets are very nice and we've used them for regular vaccinations. However, we've had two occasions when we really needed an appointment and they've refused us both times an referred us to emergency vets. The place they've referred us to twice never even returned our calls! I would suggest that if a customer calls at 8 AM and they've established their care with your clinic, you should TRY to accommodate them at some point during the day, not just blow them off. Receptionists don't seem to care and often don't pick up the phone - it's just on answer machine most of the time. Really, really frustrating.

We have taken our pets here for decades. The care our dogs and cats have received is exceptional. The staff are professional and caring. The prices are reasonable. So grateful for this clinic!

Went on a 9 day trip to New York and needed a boarding place for my dog. The prices here beats everywhere else. They charged me $15 per night. Looking at the price, I was worried as to what kind of situation she(my dog) would be in. But throughout my trip, they sent me updates, pictures and videos of my dog playing and having a good time. All in all, I recommend this place for dog boarding.

Great people really took care of my 9year old Chi. I was short on cash and they even set me up with a payment plan.

The folks at this clinic are kind and attentive. I'm thrilled to be able to count on them. My four pound pup had an abscess in her anal gland and it was scary but not life threatening. Another vet told me they would have to sedate her to treat her and it would cost $250 just for that, plus a vet fee, plus procedure. I decided to wait it out so I could check in with the folks at st Francis and I am so glad I did. They made room for her, were sweet as pie, gave her antibiotics in a shot because 2 weeks of oral antibiotics would torture both of us, cleaned out the yuck, and even drew me a picture so I could understand what was happening. AND--the bill was less than $100. This vet came highly recommended by friends and I can see why. They even remembered my dogs name on sight and seem genuinely interested in establishing trust and connection with her--so it feels like a place I can trust with her health and well being.
