Worst experience I have ever had with U-Haul. I reserved a truck they didn’t have it. Had to go to a different location to pick up a truck. They gave us a truck with bald tires and no gas. The truck got stuck in my driveway we paid extra for the insurance it took U-Haul two days to get a tow company out. We were told by U-Haul the clock would stop since the truck was stuck but they charged me for the two days we couldn’t even use the truck. The manager didn’t seem to care that they put us in a bind with a deadline to move. We will NEVER use them again and if anyone tells me they’re going to rent a U-Haul I will strongly suggest they use a different company!! Worst service ever!!

This location is in a very unsafe area. There is a homeless encampment right by the entrance. The homless people are walking back and forth ranting and raving and walk onto the property as they have no security gate. There is no security personnel on-site at the actual storage facility. The office with staff is actually across the street on 4th street. We didn't feel safe coming here.

This facility is filled with crooks waiting to steal my property and possessions that I have in storage. I have been a loyal U-Haul customer all of my adult life moving from Chicago to New York as a student. From the state of Florida to the state of North Carolina as an adult. And my biggest mistake was relocating to Albuquerque New Mexico where I have been treated terribly by this company. I have rented a storage unit for a year and a half never missed a payment and never late. The one time I reserve a truck to move my possessions out of the facility the staff cancels my reservation interfering my ability to move with the motive to lock me out and steal my property

The employee when I picked it up told me that the truck was completely empty and said if I put 2.5 gallons in it when I returned it I would get a $45 credit. Then the idiot who was working when I returned it refused to give me my credit. He was very rude and was talking over me when I tried to explain the situation to him. I couldn’t believe it. In the customer and I’m upset because I was lied to and this jerk proceeded to insult me and not even listen to my concerns. I would never recommend anyone to this U-Haul location and i’ll be filing a formal complaint on the employee who “helped” me when I returned the truck. NOT HAPPY!!

They insisted I smoked in the truck even tho I didn't and paid the 25 cleaning fee just so I could get the hell out of there. All was good until I got to ABQ.

I spent $430 to have a hitch and all the wiring installed on my car. I was ensured that my car could handle the tow load and all was good to rent the 5×8 trailer. Upon doing my own further research I found I'd only be able to haul abiut 50-100lbs after the trailer weight. Why would no one tell me that ? Now I've paid all this money for a hitch while trying to move across country (everything was explained to them) and the hitch is virtually useless. VERY displeased with the service I received, and the lack of knowledge from those that "helped" me. They did a great job on the hitch installation, but everything else gets an F. Do not recommend. Go to an actual trailer place to get it done, atleast they know what they're talking about and won't waste your time or money.

It is an easy, seamless process to rent a truck. Brenda was a delight to work with. She clearly has superior customer service skills. Unfortunately, the young man, John, isn't in possession of those same skills. He was patronizing, condescending, and just generally rude. Most importantly, he didn't take ownership of making the mistake of trying to charge us double the mileage we owed, which would have added an extra $100.00. No acknowledgement of the error, no apology. At the tail end of the transaction, he left a sour note.

First off. You can't rent a pickup truck or van unless you have a major credit card, but you can rent a box truck with a debit card, which costs more to rent and more per mile. 99 cents per mile. Then they want you to get their insurance which is another $15.
I went in wanting to rent a van for $20+ mileage. Ended up paying around $80 to move a damn dishwasher.

Friendly, quick, and easy transaction! Tim D thoroughly explained the process when I arrived. I rented a very clean pickup truck for the day to move my stuff to my new place. Smooth truck and returning the vehicle was very simple. Just filled up on gas and dropped it off. I would definitely come back here if I ever need a truck again.

Zero stars if possible, the Hick owner John blatantly accused me of potentially stealing the U-haul I reserved with my debt card. Then I was told they only take credit cards they even told me to refer to their website and I did. To my surprise the website says in big bold words “Accepts Debt Cards with major credit card logo”. After I continued to try to tell them their websites, I was accused. I do not appreciate being racially profiled and I will be taking this higher up. Tim was zero help and useless aswell

The owner John is a racist scam artist. He will help any caucasian person with a smile on his face. But let a person of color come in and try to rent a uhaul and it’s nothing but problems like our moneys not good enough. I’d like to note this racist dude also boarder line accused me of potentially steal the U-haul. Even after I was told about “needing a major credit card” and telling them their website says I can use debt cards. John still charged me for the uhaul I NEVER GOT. This place is horrible. I’d rather throw all my furniture on my back than ever step foot in this business again.

NEARLY KILLED US! Trailer Detached (3) times from truck! Be advised: THEY WILL NOT COVER YOUR TOWING VEHICLE. THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE INSURANCE THEY MAKE YOU PAY FOR. THEY WILL DENY YOUR CLAIM NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I have moved trailers for nearly 40 years. I have never had a trailer detach, much less (3) times in one evening. This was my first,(and last) Uhaul rental. I did pay for their standard insurance. (Useless as you will soon see.) I had the UHAUL guy (6TH STREET) hook it up and I did visibly check the connection. It never occurred to me that the tongue itself was poorly maintained and unable to get a good bite on the 2" towing ball. I WAS able to feel the play in the trailer and mentioned it to several people. Once I got it loaded with incredibly breakable solar panels, it detached at 50 MPH on a downhill, four lane highway, in the dark. (I was in the act of braking because I didn't like the feel of the trailer.) The detachment caused the trailer to pull the truck into fishtailing across lanes of traffic. We were pushed into oncoming traffic and I was able come to a stop in the median right on the line of oncoming traffic. The trailer's emergency brake cable snapped and never engaged. The safety cables were so long that the trailer ran under the truck and engaged the differential and damaged the brake cable. the muffler was bent in and over the tire due to the severe fishtailing. I WAS able to capture the trailer before it flipped us, or killed us in a head on collision. 911 was contacted and the police helped us stay safe to reattach the broken rental trailer. The police and others were witness to the second detachment when we moved gingerly down the road 1/4 of a mile and attempted to turn into the safety of a parking lot. I was prepared this time and once again caught the rogue trailer and got it stopped in the middle of the lot by using the same overlong "safety cables". The third detachment was forced after the alleged "Roadside Assistance" showed up. I was forced to argue with him and the operators on the phone until he finally admitted a problem after the trailer detached the third time after jacking it and the truck up with a floor jack. Witnesses were present for all of this. Uhaul attempted to blame it all on me. It has now been 6 weeks and they are denying any fault. They have informed me as follows: They dont cover towing vehicles. They dont cover antiques. They HAVE to have written estimates.(Most shops appear to be aware of this Uhaul scenario as they repeatedly refused to waste the time) I did however find one that would help us. I would avoid this location and this company like the crooks I have found them to be. Don't believe any of the information on the website. They wont protect your items. They wont repair what was damaged due to their poor maintenance. Apparently, there is some fine print that is emailed to you after you have paid for the death trap. At a VERY basic level, the ball on towing vehicles is steel. The tongue on Uhaul trailers is aluminum. Steel eats aluminum over time given any type of descent friction, say, bouncing down the highway for thousands of miles. Uhaul nearly cost me my life and the life of my loved ones. Please keep that in mind when you pick up that phone for a rental. Thank you for reading.
