I was pretty happy with them at first because they helped save my dog's life although they are pretty pricey, around $5000 for a 2 night stay and treatment. Then the vet quoted me $270 to $340 for the tests he was going to do but the bill at the front desk was $500. Now, my dog needs ongoing care, VCA is not responding to blood test results being sent to them by my local vet and the vet there is not returning my call.

Great example of business interests towering high above genuine pet care- $3,400 for a CT. I got a referral for some imaging work, a CT, because my pet has breathing difficulties. I live 2,5h away. After my initial phone call I felt distrustful as there seemed no actual consideration for the pets well being in their scheduling and handling of circumstances. Seemingly the new norm since Covid brought about a boom in the vet industry- resulting in loss of quality.. if there ever was any at this place. When I later looked at the reviews I felt assured of my impression. And the clinic's response to their reviews confirms the lack of self reflection- mostly a display of theatrical care. Somebody is milking the cow.

When my dog Abasi got into some insulation VCA took care of her it was a new experience for me and they made it as painless as possible. Of course vets are quite expensive but for our animals we'd do anything and VCA will take care of your animals. Thank you guys Abasi is doing great!

I never write reviews unless I’ve been morally wronged so here we go. The vet herself was super nice but this mega corporation literally charged me $3,000 to keep my dog overnight on an IV. No surgery, nothing. Just an IV. $3,000. Wouldn’t even let me pay in installments because I, like everybody else, did not just have a casual 3,000 spare dollars to drop right then and there so they forced me to open a new credit card. This was like a year ago but I’m still fuming about it tbh. Save your money and go literally anywhere else I cannot stress that enough.

I have not gone to this clinic yet, but I just wanted to share my love and appreciation for their staff there at the ER. I have had a hell of a night trying to find an exotic vet to help my hedgehog. Or at the very least help on what to do til she can be seen.Unfortunately, it's New years Eve, so I had no luck.Although they could not see her right away as well due to the same reason the staff was very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable about my situation. That in itself allowed me to give them the utmost respect. And I just really appreciated it.Thank you so much. I can at least sleep tonight

VCA Oncology at 9901 Montgomery, Albuquerque is amazing. Dr Schrempp was more than helpful and straight forward. I don’t have a happy ending to my story but through the entire heart-rending process Dr. Schrempp and her technician Eric was kind in finding time to speak with me and help me make the best decision in a bad situation. Dr. Schrempp was straight forward but still allowed me to make the hardest decision of my life yet stood by my decisions all the way. On the first meeting I explained that my four-legged best friend my dog was special and had special needs that could be a challenge. If ever she was going to have a special needs patient my baby girl would be the one to do it and that she did. From the first treatment to the end my baby girl stumped us all. Dr. Schrempp accepting the abnormal, listened to my concerns and because of that our final moments were not only the hardest time of our lives, but my best friend left quietly, peaceful and without pain. Dr. Schrempp and her technician Eric patiently comforted us, and it appeared their hearts broke right along with us.

Good experience with Dr. Ries. He took care of my kitty that had fatty liver disease and although unfortunately he passed, did everything he could and was still available to answer questions when my cat's care was switched to a new doctor, Dr. Ryan, due to caseload. Not as good an experience with Dr. Ryan. It was going well at first but then I started having issues with responsiveness- which culminated the week before Thanskgiving, when I was trying to get in touch with him on a day my cat started behaving strangely. My cat ended up having a stroke that day, which was no one's fault- but the day after this happened he had told me again he would call me, and I never heard from him. So I called the next day to try to get in touch with Dr. Ryan, to find he'd taken off for 2 weeks. I had wanted to talk to him to try to understand if what happened to my cat could have anything to do with the issues he'd been facing, as it was extremely sudden and shocking. (Dr. Ries took the initiative to reach out to me when he heard about my cat's passing, so I was able to talk to him, which I greatly appreciate. I'd also like to add that I received a very nice and thoughtful card signed by vets and staff.) I think it was unprofessional to leave for an extended period without getting in touch with me, after he'd told me he would and it was known I'd wanted to have a conversation about some concerns, and he was supposed to be my cat's primary vet. Considering that, it would have been appropriate for him to also reach out and check if there was anything I wanted to discuss with him about how my cat passed. I still haven't gotten an email or call to this day- and I even tried emailing him one last time. Though I feel Dr. Ryan dropped the ball, I want to reiterate that I'm thankful for the good parts of my experience that I mentioned.

My partner Kali and I took our cat Layla to be seen by Dr. Russman and tech Rebecca today. Our cat had a stroke in September and we’ve had nothing but really supportive and lovely care from VCA, both on the emergency side and in the general clinic. Today, both Dr. Russman and Rebecca went out of their way to discuss a treatment plan with options, offered samples to try and gently cared for our very anxious cat. Dr. Russman so clearly shared our joy that Layla is doing so well, and their compassion was felt and very appreciated. Thank you all!

My dog has seen several small animal internists over the years and I have been so impressed by VCA. They are exceptionally welcoming and very clear about costs and options up-front. Seeing a specialist is always more expensive, but I've never felt surprised by a bill here.

I'm really surprised to see so many negative views of this facility. I have had nothing but good experiences with this clinic, especially during traumatic times. My first experience with VCA occurred when I accidentally cut my kitten's skin while attempting to de-mat him. I presented to the ER and he was seen within a couple hours because his case was not as urgent as some of the others that were present at the time. I thought it was a very reasonable wait for an emergency clinic. I have brought one of my cats here three times for radioactive iodine treatment and Dr. Dawn Nolan has been wonderful to us. Finally, my mom brought one of our dogs here to be euthanized during an emergency situation and the staff and vets took fantastic care of my mom and her beloved pet. My mom was also really impressed with the quality of the room in which her dog was put to sleep - - she said it was not a very "clinical" room; it had been organized as such so that it was comfortable and comforting (a couch, nice lamp, etc.). I have also had PCP appointments at this clinic and have found the vets to be knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I think VCA does a wonderful job with some very difficult situations as well as primary care.

Dr. Peterson went above and beyond to treat my dog for his ruptured eye. If I had received a fraction of her bedside manor and care from any of my human doctors I would consider myself blessed. The level of attention, patience, and empathy that my pup and I received were unprecedented and I couldn’t imagine being in better hands during a medical emergency with my pets.

I almost never leave negative reviews, but sometimes a business is totally inconsiderate of you and your time in a repeatable way so it seems worth sharing so others know what to expect.I had an appointment for my dog to see a specialist at 1:00 p.m. today. In order to go to that appointment I had to take off work, drive across town to my house to get my dog, and drive back across town to their location on Montgomery. I did all of that and arrived at the office at about 12:50. BUT, I had screwed up and pulled into the wrong place, another vet office just down Montgomery- less than 10 minutes away. I went in there and it took a few minutes to figure out that I was at the wrong vet office. Totally my bad. Once I figured that out it was still a few minutes before 1:00 so I called VCA and explained that I was close by and asked for the address and started driving over- I was literally on Montgomery. I explained that I would arrive in less than ten minutes. This was at 12:59.So...their employee says "I am going to need to place you on a brief hold." That's fine, and I am heading over there. So she leaves me on hold for several minutes and when she comes back it's 1:03 and my GPS says I will be there in 5 minutes. She says "I talked to the team and we will need to re-schedule."I like honestly couldn't believe it. I was going to be less than 10 minutes late. I said that I would be there in less than five minutes and she replied "Yes, exacty." I thought that was pretty rude.I haven't mentioned that I was on my way to my $260 (!) "consultation." I don't know exactly how short the consultation was going to be (maybe it was only like 20 minutes), but I think you can get an idea from this story.I am sure I can find somebody else to give my dog a $260 consultation. I have several pets and I can tell you: there are other places in town for specialty pet services.

My poor dog was attacked by we think a coyote with extensive damage to her neck. Everyone we interacted with and took care of Ms MollyMae were wonderful. Everyone was kind and understanding and took such great care of my injured dog. I highly recommend this emergency vet as they did everything they could do so that I could bring my beloved dog home the same day.

Extremely kind and thorough staff. I was referred to VCA for a tumor removal, but the staff went out of their way to identify other health problems my dog was facing. I truly felt like they cared about my dog and wanted her to have the best possible outcome.

For the emergency room, unless your pet is at death's door. You'll be waiting for hours and you MIGHT be seen by the doctor. We kept seeing people leave during our wait. The nurses/technician did see our pet for evaluation. So I'll at least give them 2 stars for that. You'll be in queue for a long time and keep getting bumped by other emergencies. I don't blame the nurses/technicians/doctors. Management is clearly to blame for this ridiculous situation. It's pretty obvious they're running a lean crew.Edit: (8/29/23) I wanted to add we were seen at about 9pm, an hour before they closed, we waited about 5 hours. The techs/nurses/1 doctor, were very kind to us. Dr. Zinsser was very helpful and kind when she presented us our options. The kindness shown to us by the staff earned another star.BUT I still stand by my opinion on the management side. VCA management is horrible! I can't believe people would leave the hospital because they weren't going to be seen. I was extremely lucky to be seen by the doctor. VCA should hire another doctor at minimum to help take care of emergency patients. For people with sick pets, if you're coming here make sure you arrive at minimum 6 hours before they close. This way you'll at least have a chance of your pet being seen. On the safe side, I would try to show up as soon as they open or 8 hours before they close.I had to come here because my normal vet wasn't capable of handling the situation and they recommended us VCA.
