I called around for my cat to be seen sooner. This is the only place that has an open appointment sooner. Staff were friendly and professional. Dr. Kennedy was helpful and sent us home with medications. Thank you

Excellent healthcare for my 3 month old puppies. The doctor, Amy, gave excellent healthcare advice and proceeded with the right treatment plan that we could afford. She described everything patiently even though we had to ask multiple questions and really took the time to treat and take good care of our puppy.

First time here. Exam was $116 and I paid it with a link sent straight to my phone to book the appointment same day. I called at least 8 other places that didn’t have anything available same day. Dr Martinez and her staff were extremely friendly and showed compassion for my pitty who wasn’t feeling well. I like that I didn’t run into a lobby full of waiting people. Facility was clean and prices were fine. I used care credit and thankful they had that as an option for payment. Thank you VCA.

We scheduled an appointment to have our Jillie Bean get her yearly exam andVaccinations...as we all know these visits can be quite stressful on our babies. The reception area was roomy and clean and the staff were warm andWelcoming. We let them know who we were and they found our appointment right away, we then filled out a quick document and were seen within minutes.Thank you Dr. Lund, and staff for making our visit as easy , efficient and comfortable as possible.

The only place that I called in time of need for my pup who had a emergency, they actually asked and cared at what had happened. They didn't have available appointments that day but still told me to bring her in was in and out very fast and they took my pup back to surgery asap! Thank you so much!

Brought my puppy here for bloody diarrhea and paid $300 for them to tell me that they don't know what's wrong with her. I later dropped off a stool sample for testing just for them to never call me about the results. After calling them they mentioned that my phone number was not in the system, however, after finding our profile by my dogs name they claimed that they text me the results the day before. (To what # if you didn't have mine?). They said the test results came back negative and if we had any questions to call them at anytime. (Our dog was not any better and began puking because they didnt help us) after mentioning this they offered to do another check up exam to see what's wrong for $120. In the end my dog just ended up more sick and they just wanted more money to never even give me a diagnosis. Dont waste your time here. They're rude and unprofessional

Dr. Martinez took such good care of my very unhappy and injured dog. She was so kind and gentle with my very scared girl and treated her so well. Would absolutely recommend her. All of the staff were wonderful and they made a very stressful situation a little easier. Also, the vet tech (Gerald?) was wonderful. He was still kind and gentle even after she peed on him and tried to bite him many, many times.

Very friendly staff and my timid dog did great with everyone there. Very clean office. A couple weeks after his initial visit I needed a health certificate for an airline flight. They were very accommodating on short notice. I highly recommend!

Highly overpriced! The only good thing is they have a monthly plan that you pay year round but if their prices were aligned with other vets it would NOT be needed! I called 3 other vets and their price for yearly shots. This establishment is averaging $200 more than other places. Not only did the pricing "freak us out" and I understand we just moved from another state but the exam was not done in front of us. We felt we were on an assembly line. A new animal every 15 minutes.. You come in the Dr. comes in talks to you for 3 minutes, then leaves with our dog.. So how do I know she just didn't hand the dog over to a vet tech who is not a trained vet s they left together? Because 10 minutes later my dog is brought back by that vet tech that gives us a rundown on her exam. What happened to the Dr.? Can we be personable and tell you what's wrong with your dog water we spent that much money for 15 minutes?I didn't feel that they were personal or cared for me dog.. First time I've been to a vet where I felt they were there to make money not for the well being and love of animals.. I sincerely hope this was an off day for Dr Martinez. But I can guarantee our other dogs are not coming here. I will bring our Mini back for our "free" 6 month check-up and never return again.

My dog needs a certain prescription for LIFE, but they still needed to examine my dog every so often for me to get a refill and the exam cost $110 alone each visit not including the medicine! I went to another hospital and paid half for the exam AND they offered me as many prescription needed (cheaper cost too!) and lifetime refills! Which you would expect if your dogs needs something for LIFE....proving VCA is all about how much money they can get out of you and your pals.

I almost didn't come here because of some of the reviews but we called and the lady working was very sweet and informative. I get there and let them know my dog is super reactive and they immediately get us in a room . The nurse that came in first, Margo, was extremely helpful and super friendly. I can't say enough how appreciative I am when I deal with someone who's nice and talks to you in a friendly way. She was awesome with my pittie and you could tell how much she loves her job working with the animals. The ideal person you want to have work on your dog. The doctor came in and she was also just as nice and was able to diagnose right away. My dog was pooping straight blood which was very concerning for me . Everyone there was very nice . During a stressful time they made everything so much better

(Lengthy but happy-ending review)My fiancé and I just wanted to reach out and thank each and every one of the staff members at this location for the amazing care and urgency they had for our situation. Last August (2022) we were passing through Albuquerque on the I-40 when we noticed a small dog on the side of the highway. She lifted her head and looked at the cars going by the moment we happened to be passing and we immediately stopped to attempt reaching her. When we approached her, we noticed that she was unable to move and had all but given up. We assumed at that point she was hit by a vehicle or possibly jumped from a moving one. I grabbed a blanket from the car and my fiancé carefully picked her up and wrapped her in it. We got in the car and started heading towards the city. We started looking for emergency vets/hospitals that were both close and happened to be open on a Saturday at 5PM. The closest available hospital was VCA West Mesa Animal Hospital and let me just say, we thank God every day that we chose this location. As soon as we rushed in, we were greeted with such an alert readiness that made us feel like they were waiting for us to come in. We explained the situation and they immediately took her back. We waited in a private room for them to examine her and give us an update on her condition. They told us after further investigation that she is suffering from a broken femur, pelvis, and brain damage/bleeding. The likelihood of her making it isn’t good, but they are going to try and get her through this. They advised they were already setting up a transfer to another emergency hospital in the area, that is better equipped to handle her injuries. We were able to go back and see her while she was heavily medicated and we told her to fight with all she’s got. We loved her already. We let them know that we were interested in adopting her if she makes it and doesn’t belong to anyone. They let us know where she was being transferred to and said we could try calling them in the morning to see if she made it through the night. The next morning we were able to get in touch with the hospital she was transferred to and they said to their surprise, she did make it through the night and is doing well. Since we were just passing through NM (not residents of the state) on the way to another state, we weren’t able to stay and see her.Fast forward 2 months, several phone calls, and multiple surgeries later, we’re told that she’s adoptable and able to go home when we’re ready to make the trip for her. They did let us know before we consider adoption, that she had to have her left back leg amputated due to the femur break and lost a litter of puppies in the process. She is free of brain damage, any physical ailments (aside from missing a limb) and is ready for a family. We made a special trip to get her and although she was very cautious and skittish towards us, we knew she was meant to be ours. It’s now August of 2023 and she is the happiest, most grateful dog we have had the chance of knowing. She’s got the strongest personality and likes to stand up to any size dog that dares to challenge her. She fits into our family beautifully and rules the house/yard. She gets around better than my other 4-legged dogs and just loves life. We call her our miracle because that’s exactly what she is.If it wasn’t for VCA West Mesa Animal Hospital and their urgency to help, I don’t think we would have been able to re-unite with her. If you are to choose any animal hospital in the Albuquerque area, this is the one. They care for your animals as if they were their own and that’s not something you get often these days. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us that late Saturday in August. It’s changed our lives for the better.
