“I had a great experience housing 4 employees here for their trip to the surrounding area. The customer service when I called was always so kind and personalized. Will definitely be booking there again!”
“The Lofts at Sterling and Sage are simply beautiful with high end appointments, giant comfy bed, beautiful bathroom and shower. Out on the balcony are to southwestern design chairs with views over the Toltec Trains. If you are coming to Chama to ride the trains this is a perfect location to spend the night prior and the day after. Money well spent! Very Clean and well maintained.”
“This was a nice place to stay. We hadn't made any reservations, so we got lucky they had a room available. This was close to the train ride that we had reservations for. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.”
“A fantastic family runs this business with an RV Park and Lodge. Stayed in the Lodge, but I enjoyed every bit of the acreage here. Stayed in a pet friendly room. Book directly with place not on 3rd party for best rates and service. The Chama River runs on the property for catch and release trout fishing. Open year round. The closest ski area is Wolf Creek. If you are taking the Cumbres-Toltec train or just enjoying the beautiful mountain environment, or want to hunt and fish nearby, I highly recommend staying here. They even had a gorgeous Gratitude Garden, which would be excellent for a wedding, family reunion, or church retreat.Nearby activities: Train, skiing, snowboarding, hunting, fishing nearby”
“?????
The absolute best wedding venue in northern New Mexico!
We got married at Timbers Ranch in Chama, NM this summer, and I can’t say enough amazing things about it! From the moment we booked, Ashley and Beck, the owners, went above and beyond to help make our day perfect. They were incredibly kind, responsive, and hands-on throughout the whole planning process—answering questions, offering ideas, and making us feel completely supported every step of the way.
The property itself is absolutely stunning. The mountain views, the peaceful forest setting, and the rustic charm of the ranch made for the dreamiest backdrop to our outdoor wedding. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful everything was!
If you’re looking for a place that feels magical, personal, and truly special—Timbers Ranch is it. We feel so lucky to have found this venue, and even luckier to have had Ashley and Beck be a part of our story.”

“We haven’t stayed there yet. I just wanted to acknowledge how easy and accommodating it was to get the hotel blocked for a wedding. The woman I spoke to was very nice and sent me the confirmation in a timely manner. When planning a wedding it can be so stressful trying to find a place for our guest but they did a wonderful job. Highly recommend so far.”

“We stayed in the lodge, first room floor with two double beds; sheets, linens and blankets were clean and comfy. This lodge is a little bit dated, but we felt comfortable, safe, and for Chama, this was one of the few local options available. We took the train during the day, and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The hotel staff were friendly.”
“We arrived in a wild rain storm. Much of the town was without wifi and couldn't make cellphone calls. Gentleman in the office was friendly and helpful. Good location to ride train next day. Rooms were clean. Next day weather cleared a bit and we were able to relax and watch direct tv.”
“In February, I booked our room for two nights for mid-September to stay at Vista Del Rio Lodge. The visit to Chama was to take the Cumbres & Toltec train in celebration of my 70th birthday. The lodge is located two miles south of the train station. I am retired but for 27 years I was Director of Housekeeping for luxury properties throughout the US. Consequently, I have high cleaning and service expectations for hotels where I stay. The price has to reflect the quality of the property. Vista del Rio is a simple very clean charming hotel with rustic New Mexico accents. I booked a two-queen bed room to share it with my wife and son. The beds are firm, the two pillows on each bed were too flat for my taste. The beds also have two sham pillows with the same design of the Southwestern pattern bedspread. The layout of the room is motel style. One thing that differs from other motels, is that the rooms have a ceiling fan, love it! The bathtub/ shower and toilet are enclosed but the bathroom vanity and closet are not. The room has a microwave, mini refrigerator and a single coffee maker. The TV remote control is difficult to use, even with the instructions in the room. It got to a point that we couldn't figure it out and we didn't call the front desk for help so we turned it off. The ice machine is located next to the hotel office. Included in the room rate continental breakfast is offered. For breakfast they offer different types of store bought danish, cereal, fresh fruit, bagels and sliced bread to toast, yogurt, selection of juices, coffee and tea. The staff is very pleasant and cordial. The one story building has rooms on both sides. Our room faced the highway and I thought it was going to be noisy but it was not. The back rooms face a very large grass field with a bbq grill and a covered picnic area. The river is behind the hotel property is blocked by large trees but since it had rained heavily before arriving it was too muddy to explore. We live in Las Cruces, NM and we have lots of friends wanting to visit Chama and take the train so I will be recommending it.”
