Writing this review from the complimentary breakfast area. Great fresh breakfast. Yogurts, pastries, eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, oatmeal, cereal. Very good coffee. The desk and breakfast staff are all very nice.

Aged motel but was a great stay. Staff were very polite and nice. Breakfast is better than most hotels. Water pressure rocks! Bed was comfortable.

The room AC was very noisy, even though it was a standard hotel unit like the one in the room I'm staying at tonight (a different hotel chain.) It sounded like a jet plane taking off. The buttons on the unit were worn off so I had to guess what did what. The room came with a fly swatter which I needed to use to chase and kill multiple flies.Even though the included breakfast buffet was good, I can't recommend this place.

Staff were all very friendly and breakfast was great. However, we did discover bedbugs in our first room. We notified the front desk and they were very concerned and immediately gave us a new room. I appreciate the good customer service, but recommend the management does a full bedbug treatment.

Both of these stars go to the lovely check in man I had the pleasure of interacting with. The rest are lost on the fact my bathtub was full upon arrival due to a dripping faucet and closed drain, the toilet paper had approximately 5 squares left however was nicely folded as though the roll sitting directly above it had been replaced, and my room was staggeringly hot as the A/C was off upon arrival (understand that one a bit but this room was reserved the afternoon before my arrival in the evening). Only thing that really got me was the fact that one bed smelled distinctly different from the other in my double room, fortunately it's just me so I was able to choose the fresher bed, however this is a bit concerning. I don't do reviews often but this seemed to warrant one. I'm not familiar with clayton nor their other options for lodging but I'd suggest maybe checking around elsewhere before settling here.

Made reservation with them directly on the phone. I asked to have a ground floor room and he said that was available. I asked again before ending the call to make sure it was a ground floor room. He said yes. We got there and it was upstairs! I had just had a couple knee injections and couldn’t walk up stairs. They said they’d give us the only thing available on the ground floor but it was $40 more. Thankfully the manager reduced it the next morning to closer to the originally quoted rate. The staff at the hotel were very nice, especially the ladies at breakfast. The room was pretty good. NOTE: The pillows are these VERY FLAT PILLOWS that they stuff into a standard pillow case until it’s a square shape and tuck the case in. It makes them the size of a small throw pillow. It’s really weird. Who sleeps on a little square pillow? You can flatten several out and stack them and that works ok.The shower is a big step into it. The soap is odd — like a weird unscented, non lathering soap. The shampoo and conditioner were in teeny tiny bottles that were very hard to squeeze stuff out of. They only had one of each in a “family room” that sleeps up to 7 or something. You’d need one per person. We won’t stay again. It’s ok but between the odd things and the failure to handle our reservation as promised, it wasn’t worth it. The area as a whole seems to have poor quality hotels, as the Holiday Inn Express there is not a good oneFood & drinks: Breakfast was pretty basic but good. The staff handling breakfast were VERY nice, helpful and efficient. They othe highlight of our stay!

We stayed here in 2022, so was our choice to stay here again. Room was clean, breakfast was good. After camping for several days, a hot shower with great water pressure was great. Phillip-Check in staff was pleasant, check out staff (didn't get his name) was just matter of fact. Called in on way to Clayton, ask for ground floor room for 2. Phillip was very obliging. Don't remember paying a $25.00 fee for parking in 2022, but was understandable. There were others with trucks & trailers too. Guess they started charging a fee for the maid that cleaned the room. Really was expecting about $160.00 fee for the night so was surprised with $194.00. However, we will stay there again.Rooms: Rooms clean and tidy.

Pricey but was told it was the nicest in town. Paid $169 for 1 night but the whirlpool tub was so needed! Walking stairs to get to the room was difficult due to a knee injury. Location was great. Room was fine. Bed and pillows were comfortable. AC cooled well. Breakfast was really good. Scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, biscuits, gravy, fruit. Coffee could've been better. Would stay there again.

This is an older property and the rooms are larger which is nice. Beds are average, the pillows are flat and not fluffy, cleanliness is very good. The staff is pleasant and attentive. The breakfast is better than average, and the staff was fun. Overall a decent place.

Everything about this place was on point. Even though my family and I arrived during the night, the person who checked us in was super efficient and nice. As some commenters have mentioned, there was a somewhat distinct odor to our room, I presume from whatever cleaner they use. However, I stopped smelling it after only a few minutes and it was a non-issue. Our room itself was spotless, and the breakfast the next day was incredible! Though this place is listed as a 1-star hotel, I'd definitely rank it higher in my mind.Rooms: The odor some other commenters mentioned seemed to go away after spending only a few minutes in the room, and was a non-issue.Nearby activities: Clayton was a nice town, and I'd definitely recommend going to see the park with the dinosaur fossils!Safety: I felt pretty safe in that location.Walkability: The office was very close to the buildings with rooms.Food & drinks: One of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had!

Average motel with doors opening on parking lot. You can hear traffic if your room is near the street. Rooms are dated and slightly musty. Breakfast buffet is excellent, however.

This hotel had 4+ stars, so I was hopeful. Those hopes were quickly dashed when I opened the door to see this fly swatter sitting out. Turns out there was a very good reason--mosquitoes and another random beetle. Not only were there insects in the room, but there were literal dust bunnies clinging to the ceiling. The floor had obviously been well used by other dogs. So much ick!Initially, I had made a second reservation to stay here on my way back through town later in the week, but quickly canceled that and stayed elsewhere.

Room was not bad, pretty roomy and for the most part clean. The bathroom did have a small odor ?♀️don’t know what it was. The bed was comfortable. Shower was not bad actually pleasantly surprised at the good water pressure. The area was really great for the dogs nice place to take them outside. The room was quite and had a good night sleep. The breakfast was really great ! The staff was nice. We would stay again for sure. IDo think they need to add bath was to the rooms instead of that soap that drys you out. But other than the stay was good.

Great stay! Forgot to request a ground floor room, Kevin (at front desk) found a handicap accessible room for us. Very nice hot breakfast, real food and great options.
