The Lodge is situated above Cloudcroft with views of the valley below near Tularosa and Alamogordo. It is a historic building, and the design and decor show this. It is warm and inviting with a grand seating area just beyond the front desk, which boasts a fireplace, period furniture, and several animal mounts of local wildlife. Our room, a double queen, was very warm and comfortable. The beds were soft but not uncomfortably so. We inquired about the tower and were given the key to get up there to see it and the views from the top. We weren't disappointed! Judy Garland and Clark Gable scratched their names into the woodwork in the tower in the 1940's, and they now have a picture frame over them to preserve them.If you enjoy old architecture and historic buildings, this is a great place to experience them both. Be sure to ask about Rebecca!

We had the most incredible experience at the Lodge last evening! This is where Chef Richard Lepree's true talent emerges. He's a magician and an artist. He knows how to make the most amazingly delectable meals that make diners roll their eyes back and swoon at the delight of what they're tasting. I watched people at other tables! They all did the same thing! The joy in the room, the enthusiasm of the staff, the overall upbeat and positive vibes were so much fun! Right here in Cloudcroft, a 5-star restaurant! So incredibly delicious. If you thought his sandwiches were great, he was just warming you up. This is his true gift. The way he subtly combines flavors with nothing overpowering anything else; a symphony to your taste buds! His years of experience shine through here and you are on for a real treat!

My husband and I ate dinner at Rebecca’s tionight and can’t say enough great things. It has been so long since dinner has been at this high of caliber. Bread house made, piping hot, 6 flavors, shaved butter of the highest quality. Beet salad: 2 types of beets, with pumpkin seeds 2 ways with goat cheese as 2nd sauce . Crisp mixed green salad perfectly dressed. Salmon skin crisped. Stacked ratatouille, filet cooked to perfect temperature. Save room for the incredible lemon pudding. We can’t wait to try the entire menu.

I booked a room in December, and when I arrived for my stay in February I was surprised to find my room had been changed and I had not been notified. I was told it was an “upgrade”. The room I was put in was smaller than the room I had originally booked, although it did have the correct amount of beds. The room was dirty and dusty. There were cobwebs on the windows, curtains, walls, and ceilings. There was food on the floors and, much to our disgust, in the beds as well. When this was brought up to the staff at the reservation desk the solution was a $14 discount. The location is beautiful.. the rooms are supremely gross.

We visited at Christmas and the lobby was straight out of a hallmark movie. A fire burning in the fireplace, books, table games, cozy couches and pillows, and large, tasteful floral arrangements. An old place with an intimate feel and fascinating history.

My husband and I did a two day getaway the day after Christmas. It wasn’t busy. The room was very cute and cozy. The lodge itself is beautiful and while we were checking in, we overheard a gal asking about a tower so when it was our time to check in, we had to know what the tower was. If you go to The Lodge, ask the front desk for a key and they give you directions to a tower overlooking the mountains. Be prepared to climb some steep stairs, (totally worth it), then you’re greeted with a gorgeous more than 180• view. We watched the sunset and it was spectacular? The lodge also has a great restaurant called Rebecca’s with the delicious food and drinks and the lobby is beautiful as well. We were there at Christmas time so it was extra beautiful and had probably one of the most beautifully decorated Christmas trees I have ever seen! I love any and all wildlife, so I was excited to see a few deer passing by the golf course on our way into town from the lodge.Nearby activities: Wine tasting in town, Cloudcroft Archery was a lot of fun and Veteran owned??

See below. We left early. Not an enjoyable experience!Rooms: Very uncomfortable mattress on both beds. Poor water pressure. Poor lighting. You name it!Extremely overpriced!Food & drinks: Christmas buffet was overpriced. All meats were overcooked and vegetables were barely worth eating. A $60 meal that was worth $6!Noteworthy details: Very nice and beautiful location.

Great dining experience, best escargot I’ve ever had. It was snowing heavily and the place had “the shining” vibes but a miniature version. Great experience will be back for sure.

The stay at The Lodge was stupendous! Clean, well maintained, wonderfully decorated for Christmas, with coffee and hot tea awaiting us.Staff was helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant inside The Lodge and could not find my VISA the following morning. So l called The Lodge and thankfully the restaurant waitress had turned it in to the The Lodge staff. Grateful for both the staff's kindness and honesty at the restaurant and The Lodge. Would definitely come back to both the restaurant and The Lodge.By the way, the gentleman (staff) at The Lodge did mention that lately it has been an anomaly for visitors to be leaving their credit cards behind. Be careful out there.

This review is specific to the Thanksgiving Day buffet - based on previous visits to Rebecca's for lunch and dinner, we were eager to attend the Thanksgiving event, but the meal was not a good one. The turkey and prime rib were dry, and the dressing was wet and gooey. Nothing on the buffet was tasty, but very mundane. The cost, per person (even for the two-year-old!) was a whopping $60, and one little Bloody Mary cost $15. We expected better. I regret the expenditure.

Wish I could give this place a negative stars. We where staying in Pavilion with our little pug. Unfortunately our pug was bite by a snake, we where every lucky we got her to the vet in time. We told the manager about it with the vet bill and only thing they could tell us no way a snake can get inside. Not asking them to pay just to own up to the fact a snake can get in the rooms. Very rude management. Do better
