A lot less going on than we thought but the lake was pristine as it could be. We were able to walk the dog all the way around the lake. Meaning, it was pretty small (but nice)!

Stopped here for lunch on our way from Cimarron Canyon State Park to Taos Ski Valley. It was a Tuesday and it seemed we had the place to ourselves, besides the hundreds of prairie dawgs that kept coming for our food. We enjoyed the views over the lake eating lunch and then got the paddleboards on the lake. It was a windy day and storms were blowing in, but we enjoyed the peaceful setting on the boards before packing up. I heard July 4th is a wonderful time, but next time I might get a camping spot here to enjoy. Though shading was limited in this area.Restrooms: Girls said it was cleanPicnic area: Nice clean picnic area that is shaded

Nice clean park and level parking. Pit toilet, dumpster, and water nearby. Great views of the lake. Pets must be on leash. Covered pavilion with table. Rangers and park host drive by a couple of times a day.

I hadn't been to Eagles Nest Lake in quite a bit, decades. My sons and I went to the first Lake access point and it was covered in dead fish and stunk like death. Then when we tried to find the boat ramps so we could go out on our kayak, the ranger station was close despite the fact that there were hundreds of people coming into town that day on the week before Fourth of July. There is a total lack of signage to lead to the boat ramps and the maps do not show them. This is a poorly-run state park. Was not impressed at all and resented the amount of gas I spent to get us there. Hey highway Crew, we counted close to two hundred dead prairie dogs on our last five miles approach to Eagles Nest. Two or three decades ago it was a serious delight to come to Eagle's Nest. I do not recommend this destination at all and my reviews get hundreds of thousands of views. The people were friendly though.

The camp host, Bob, was extremely nice and very helpful... not like other campground hosts that seem to be more like military police lol. Great stay! Beautiful views of lake and mountains.

This is a quiet place. The camp is monitored by some vigilant people, who are also polite and helpful. Very nice. The Camp Host was very helpful (give him a raise). -- Kayak in the mornings as the weather becomes unpredictable in the afternoon. Busy on weekends, quiet during the week. I will be back in the fall.

I was treated with unnecessary hostility by one of your park rangers today.I felt he was extremely rude and confrontational towards me. I’m residing in Eagle Nest temporarily and am unaware of the strict fee rules as I stopped to take just 3 photos and use the restroom. I was more than happy to pay, and informed him this as I paid. His hostile demeanor continued. I was further threatened harshly that I will be cited if he sees me again before May.I have been a visitor and user of New Mexico State Parks and National Forrest service land for 40 years. I have never been approached with such hostility and confrontational behavior. It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and extremely rude to interact with a woman alone as I am.

By far one of the best lakes to ice fish in New Mexico. Lake has Rainbow Trout, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, and Kokanee Salmon.

Beautiful and quiet. Super clean bathrooms. Gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We stayed here in late April and woke up to a pretty dusting of snow. It made for an incredibly beautiful drive out of the state park through the mountains. As we were leaving the state park, we saw 8 elk cross the road in front of us and make their way to the lake. Amazing! The city of Eagle Nest is also quite cute and looks like a fun place in the summer. We can't wait to come back here!

Big lake. We didn't stay there. The only reason to put this is to add photos. Do note that there are very few trees in the campground. You can do boating here. Comparing with Cimarron River State Park a few miles East, Cimarron has lots of trees, a pond for fishing, and flowing river, but no boating.
