Elephant Butte Lake State Park is New Mexico's largest state park and a great spot to unwind. It is a huge campground with many pull-through sites that are pretty level and huge. The park offers a range of options from dispersed camping to sites with water and power hook-ups for RVs, which are budget-friendly. There are sandy beaches with plenty of water and beach room for playing in the sand and water. The lake can accommodate watercraft of many styles and sizes, including kayaks, jet skis, pontoons, sailboats, ski boats, cruisers, and houseboats for boating and fishing. The park provides nice views of the lake and an easy walk or drive to the water's edge. Amenities include picnic areas, picnic tables, shelters, fire pits, a playground, restrooms, a nice bathhouse with showers, and flush toilets that are basic but clean and well-kept. It is a very, very quiet place off the beaten path, though it can get packed on the weekends and windy. The nearby town of Truth or Consequences is a short drive away. It is a favorite place to camp, sleep under the stars, enjoy a campfire, and have a guaranteed good time. Visitors should remember to wear a life jacket, wear sunscreen, and practice safety when in the water.
Lots of visitors to the lake with boats and camping equipment. Check out Bigfoot restaurant with great food and customer service. A new bus shuttle to connect from the lake into T or C!
