ARRIVE HERE BEFORE SUNSET!!Besides the long and twisty dirt road to get here, this was by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, it is in a beautiful location during the day (great hiking trails) and at night (great place to see stars). Highly recommend. Owners are very friendly.

We had a lovely little house and the hosts were wonderful. Becky baked pumpkin pecan bread and Michael made sure that we were well situated and knew where all the trails were on the property. We walked some part of all the trails and enjoyed them all. He also gave us spot on advice for the local attractions. The house was very comfortable and the quiet was much needed.

My wife and I stayed here over Christmas weekend for a quiet and beautiful holiday. This place was one of the most pleasant places we have stayed for the holiday which we have done for several years. Adorable little casitas were very comfortable, the views overlooking the little river were splendid and our hosts were delightful. We found chocolates, gf xmas breads layed out on table, amazingly well stocked kitchen cabinets, comfortable bedding, and radiant heating comfort. We will definitely be coming back here!

First the plus side . . . The casitas are comfortable, well-designed and equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the surroundings are beautiful. We greatly enjoyed the space around us. On the down side . . . The expection is that in such a remote place you will find peace, quiet and privacy, which we did because we were the only guests there. In reality, the casitas are very close together (ours shared a wall with our neighbor) and if they had all been occupied we would not have had the quiet, private experience we were seeking. We chose this particular venue because it was remote and the brochure said it had 7+ miles of hiking trails, We intended to park our car and spend the weekend hiking wihout ever having to drive anywhere else. What we did not know, was that the majority of the trails were on the other side of the creek and the creek had flooded so the trails were inaccesible. Prior to our departure, I wrote a note to Becky, the owner, complimenting her on the facilities but mentioning that we would have like to have been told before our arrival about the creek situation and offered the opportunity to reschedule. (They did know we wouldn't be able to hike well ahead of our arrival as the creek had been impassible for awhile). Becky called me immediately and was very defensive. She said she wasn't responsible for the creek rising (of course she wasn't!) and if I wanted to know about the conditions I should have called her, it wasn't her responsibility to notify me. Since I had never been there, I had no idea where the trails were, or that the creek might have risen making the trails inaccessible. I was surprised at her hostility and very taken aback. Had she been pleasant, said she was sorry we hadn't had the full experience and she hoped we'd return another time - perhaps even offered us an incentive to do so - we would have left feeling positive about this experience. My advice to anyone considering these casitas is to rent the whole thing if you want to be guaranteed of privacy and quiet and to call ahead of time to be sure the facilities you hope to use are available.

Stayed 2 nights and wish it were longer. Everything is provided including kitchen utensils and basic breakfast foods, they sell chicken and steak. They have the most comfortable beds we ever slept on. The scenery is amazing, and watching the birds was relaxing. Owners are lovely. Need 4 wheel drive to get up the road to the casitas. Only 45 minutes into silver city if you need to get some groceries. Also check out wolfhorse outfitters to horseback ride is a Must!

A set of friends and I recently rented out all 5 casitas for a getaway. The views from the casitas are wonderful, and the place is clean and comfortable. I have stayed in many casitas and cabins over the years, and I can honestly say none were as well equipped as these. A full set of dishes; pots and pans; spices, condiments, milk, OJ, soft drinks, butter; folding chairs; BBQ's; a toothbrush holder...the list goes on. Michael and Rebecca even leave a homemade loaf (mine was pumpkin and pecan). There is LOADS of information about local hikes and sites to see, bookcases with books on local history and flora and fauna, and a small art gallery featuring arts and crafts from local people (available for purchase). The beds were SUPER comfortable. This would be a great place for a 3-10 person getaway.

We had a great time. Michael and Rebecca are the perfect hosts and Michael is very knowledgeable about the area and local points of interest. These Casitas are about 15 minutes on a dirt road from the paved road in Gila and are about 45 minutes from Silver City so you should stock up on what you might want to cook for meals before you make the journey. The Casita owners provide breakfast items, milk and juice so you don't need to get those ahead of time. They also sell steaks and chicken if you let them know ahead of time. The Casitas are roomy and the kitchens are nice. There are gas as well as briquette grills for your use. The path leading down to the creek is nice and once you get down there you will find a hammock, picnic table and chairs to lay back on to look up at the unique cliff walls. There are a plethora of birds around and each Casita has bird and hummingbird feeders. The gallery has some cool items for purchase.

Very relaxing. Loved having bird feeders with seed. Nice trails to walk. The casita was comfortable and stocked nicely with fresh pumpkin bread and condiments. Enjoyed a quiet evening with the fire in the kiva fireplace. Totally enjoyed.

This was one of those get aways I cannot stop thinking about. Everything was absolutely beautiful and views from casita are stunning, especially if you take the opportunity to climb paradise peak!! You get to unplug for awhile and live in the moment and take it all in. The hosts are first class and lovely people. I want to go back to explore more!!

Visit the Gila wilderness and feel like you are living in rustic luxury. We were so content we spent an extra night. Buy the steaks and chicken they offer. Great value and SOOOO good. We even bought steaks to take with us for later in our trip.

My wife and I have stayed there nearly every New Year's for the past several years. We were there for two nights this year from December 30 – January 1. We absolutely love the place. One of the things that amazes me, is that each casita has everything you could possibly want. Every closet and drawer are packed with useful items. Being in a rather remote location, this is really handy! We’ll be back next year. Jack & Denae

This is an amazingly lovely, peaceful place to visit. We came for the dark sky, and the night sky did not disappoint! The lovely, well stocked casita, comfortable accommodation, and hiking trails were a bonus. Becky and Michael are great hosts, and really thought of everything you might need. Rockhunters, bird watchers, astronomers, and those who love them, will all be happy here!

Beauty and peace and quiet surround you. This is what we came for. We wanted to see a thousand stars at night and we did. This brought us great joy. We loved it. As many have stated in other reviews, each is well furnished and you'll love the porch. We were in Silver City stocking up for a two night stay and a terrible storm hit. So much rain and thunder. We called ahead because of our concern about driving down the dirt paths. All was OK in Gila, only 20 miles away. But it does take almost an hour to get to the Casita. A county maintained road is dirt and gravel which isn't too bad. For us, the last mile or so on their private road was not fun. One lane dirt road, with many twists and turns. Once your passed this, you can sit back and relax. Now it is a stress free zone.
