About Tunstall Store
The Tunstall Store served as both the personal residence of John Tunstall and a general store competing with Murphy and Dolan's enterprise. The recreated store does a great job of showing what a late-1800s general store looked like, thanks to the preservation team that maintained its appearance. Visitors can learn about the area's history and enjoy the authentic setting. Behind the store, the graves of Alexander McSween and John Tunstall are located, allowing visitors to pay their respects. However, it is believed that the original graves were washed out many years ago by the Bonito River, and the current markers are replacements. Overall, the site offers a glimpse into the past, combining historical significance with a well-preserved recreation of a late-1800s store. It is a meaningful place to learn about the local history and honor the figures buried nearby.
