Visiting with owner was a history lesson in itself. She is remodeling the rooms one by one. Our room was clean and comfortably decorated. We found it to be a very good night’s sleep. We look forward to seeing new improvements as we travel through there again.

Thank you so much for such a lovely room. The bathroom is beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfy. Thank you so much for a very pleasant stay. Cant wait to come back for another visit.

What a run down motel. While everything appeared clean and location was quiet, the worst for me was the overpowering smell in the room, like some old antique shop. All my clothes wreaked of that place the day after.Bathrooms are tiny with no latching door. Door was some cheap sliding door to cover the hole where a door would normally be. Leaves little to the imagination when occupied.Beds were alright in comfort. Pillows were some medium/hard foam (memory foam maybe?); not comfortable for someone used to soft and malleable pillows.Check-in office was messy, seems to have some hobbyist activity going on.Staff was pleasant. Only saw one person but no issues here.Walking distance to other stuff is short; went to some bar/restaurant hybrid a couple blocks down for dinner. However, town is tiny so not much here except to sleep, eat, and move on.Woke up at 4am and just left to get to my next destination. Could not wait to leave. As mentioned earlier, mostly due to the smell, good grief.Would recommend staying in Socorro or some other nearby town/city and bypass this place altogether.

On a recent winter camping/rockhounding trip in New Mexico, after a long day on the road, with a winter storm rolling in, I decided to get a room for the night rather than camp. It was after dark when I stopped, and I was happy to see the vacancy sign. My room was very quiet, with a comfy bed, nice soft blankets, and best of all, awesome quality pillows with several firmer or softer options! Most hotel pillows are terrible, and I usually travel with my own for that reason. There was also a light switch to the outside light, which I appreciated. The lodge had a vintage, rustic vibe, (in a good way) and the room/bathroom were spotless. The heater was a bit noisy, but more importantly, it worked great and heated the room quickly. The woman who checked me in was very pleasant and friendly. I'll definitely stay here again the next time I'm passing through the area.

We had a standard single room, I think it was a full or queen sized bed. Small room, but comfy pillows!!! This was definitely a highlight to mention. The room was meant to keep us warm and off the ground. Water in shower was nice and warm. Gift shop was superb. Walls are a bit thin but it's okay if you don't have night owls checked on next to you. Beautiful views and roads to journey through.

Great place! I bumped my head and the owner helped me with an ice pack. I’ll be back!

Have stayed several times since it's been under new management. Clean, comfy, with very fair rates. Courtyard's nice for hanging out in the early morn with mtn views. New owners are constantly improving it--each time we stay it's better.

We were directed to this motel because the one we booked had issues and could not host us. The room we were in was clean. It is a no frills motel which matched the rate we paid so if I were in that area again I would stay there again. The area is quiet and we felt safe. The front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating.

Cute little room in a cute little town! Clean and cozy retro motel with great WiFi, shower and in-room coffee. Owner Carol went above and beyond, rescuing me and my flat-plagued bicycle (watch out for goatheads!)

Bills itself as a Route 66 roadside motel offering clean, quiet rooms. That’s what it is. Water was hot. Bed and room were clean. Price was right. Motorcycle approved.

It was now the 8th day of my much delayed "Sixth Annual First Quarter Odyssey", 25-23APR2023, and I've been extremely fortunate to make motel reservations a few hours before arrival. Today was perhaps a bit tight because it wasn't until my lunch stop in Pie Town at the delicious Ohana eatery that I was finally able to contact the exceptionally fine HIGH COUNTRY LODGE (303 1st Street, MagdalenaNM87825; 575.854.2062; hclmagdalena.com ) and reserve a room for the night. ¡ Whew!Arriving well before Sunset--partly because a STRONG Westerlies pushed me along--I was given the perfect for me, a small room (a superb/firm/queen bed) plus all of the usual accouterments and the always essential outlet to recharge the eBatteries. I was extremely happy, and this great overnightery definitely has my coveted "¡Wheel of Approval!"

Welcoming, friendly staff, comfortable beds and pillows!!!, within walking distance of restaurants, cozy clean remodeled rooms, pretty setting and landscaping. It was really just what we needed and when we first arrived we decided we needed to stay in a different room. The owner was VERY kind and accommodating. Not even a sign of frustration and I know we caused her a little more work and concern for us to change rooms. I do recommend this hotel and we will stay there again if the opportunity arises.

Carol and her staff were great. I lived here for 3 weeks for work. The refrigerator kept freezing my food and they brought me a new one from Albuquerque that worked well. They are currently remodeling other rooms and they are looking good. I definitely recommend this place.
