Located just a short drive outside Albuquerque, the Owl Café is a local gem serving up some of the most delicious burgers you'll ever taste. Their cheeseburger, topped with fresh green chilis, strikes the perfect balance of flavor and heat, making it a quintessential New Mexico delight. Steeped in history, this charming café dates to the 1940s and once catered to the scientists of the Manhattan Project – yes, even Oppenheimer's crew likely savored these burgers! Adorned with photos of famous patrons and adorned with dollar bills, the walls tell stories of generosity and community spirit. Each December, these donated dollars go to support both local and national charities (patrons have the opportunity to leave their mark with a personalized note on their donation). Whether you're en route to White Sands National Park or simply craving a taste of authentic New Mexico cuisine, a visit to the Owl Café is an absolute must.

Burger was very good. I always order the beans and green chili.I haven't ordered the fries recently as they were not cooked properly. The oil wasn't hot enough

Worth the stop. We have been coming here for a couple years during our visits to Bosque del Apache. The breakfast menu is small but includes my favorites and very reasonably priced. We have had the green chile burger which wasn’t my favorite but then chile is not high on my list. The regular burgers are very good and the onion rings set a bar INMHO. Needs are cold. Restrooms always clean. Service has always been great. Their hours have been wonky due to valid reasons but seems pretty stable during our visit in April 2024. Definitely give it a try.

Great spot for classic southwest bar food. Green Chile cheeseburger is fantastic. And their onion rings are the best I've ever had in my life

We read the review about the green chili burger. We each got one, and decided it was a little over rated. It needs a better presentation on a larger plate, bigger bun, even if you just stacked the pickles down the side of the plate it would look nicer. The frys should have been served on a plate not a paper tray but they were not that good anyway
