Been coming back here again after using another local vet for a while. Vet care in this town has gone down hill hard recently and just having terrible experiences. So gave Smith a second shot since I used to really like these guys, and have always really appreciated how I could just walk in there when I needed to. My two recent experiences here have just been stellar. Great docs. Great assistants. Great receptionists, too! Just took my dog in for an infected lump that really needed to be seen, and couldn't have been happier or more impressed. They are super busy, like all the other vets in town, but somehow managed to not compromise great customer care. UNLIKE everywhere else I have tried. Yes, I tried to leave Smith Vet but so glad I decided to go back. My dog is happy too! I know where I'm going in future.

These are such difficult times for everyone, especially Veterinarian Hospitals. They are often short staffed and over worked, trying to deal with frantic pet parents and doing their best to be compassionate, even when people are nasty. I appreciate the care the vet techs, veterinarians and receptionists have given to our sweet babies this week.

Amazing experience Thursday as a walk-in new patient (we called ahead). Our sweet Lucy had an icky ear and we were so worried. The staff were so nice and skilled and the facility overall experience was great. Thank u ?❤️?

Excellent care. Very busy only does walk in's. Wonderful staff. Vet shortage throughout the country esp in rural underserved areas. They charge an exorbitant amount very high prices. Had my dog in for some diarrhea problems. Brief physical really brief but necessary. Heart worm test. Antibiotic. Heart worm pills, worming pills, probiotics. Five hundred bucks yep 500$ was there maybe half hour. Great place but expensive very expensive

Great doctors on staff, bad experiences with administrative staff and overpriced service. Only office in SF, ready to take emergencies. Waiting times for the walk-in clients can be unreasonably long.

They are always able to fit us in. I went today, Saturday, right before their break and the receptionist accommodated my little dog for a wellness exam and I was able to get his prescription refilled. Dr Martinson and Patti were very sweet and caring with Little Man. Thank you guys so much, really appreciate it.

I have been bringing my 14 yo standard poodle to Smith since we moved to Santa Fe 5 years ago and have always been happy with their service. I recently took her for two of the many subcutaneous cysts that she develops which had become ulcerated and were causing her pain. I was worried because in the past I had been told that it was unlikely that they could be operated on because of her age. I took her just hoping that we could do something to make her more comfortable. Dr. Wendy Duran was wonderful. She was willing to give excision a try. Two weeks + later. Leela is a new dog!! She healed beautifully (after some iffy days post surgery) and making her comfortable with her pain meds rather than trying to prolong her life has given her a new lease on life. She is her old self. I can't thank Dr. Duran enough.

I had never been to Smith’s veterinary Hospital before but I had an emergency with my puppy. I drove right over and checked in even though I was a new client. They were very helpful and I’m going to change from the vet I’ve gone to for 10 years to Smiths. Very happy with her care and response.

It's with great sadness that I report that Smith Veterinary Hospital, once a reliable, caring place to take my pets for care, has just. . . completely gone downhill. Smith is a walk-in vet, so you know you're going to wait your turn. But recently, since I have a new puppy in need of regular shots, I've had to go several times. I've waited two hours; 30 minutes (which In think is totally reasonable);and two and a half hours-- without ever getting in! I've tried calling in advance and asking how busy they are, and each time hearing that they are overwhelmed with emergencies: "Come another day." I've shown up 15 minutes before opening to find a line of 20 people outside. Once upon a time I could expect professionalism, a reasonable wait, and great vets (thank you, Dr. Andrea Trujillo! please start your own animal hospital!) but now realize I have to find a vet with appointments. I work for a living and can't afford to give away my billable hours to sitting in the parking lot -- not to mention my dog's stress. So long, Smith. I'm sure I'll be there sometime, if my dog ever needs emergency treatment, but in the meantime, I'm finding another vet.

My dog started having severe seizures last night. I called Smith's and let them know that it was a life or death emergency and I'd be there in 20 minutes. I was told not to bother because they are closing in 10 minutes and nobody would be there.... I was told to go to Albuquerque (which would be an other hour further south. He died last night.

Horrible experience. We were the fourth ppl here, extremely over charged for a “new pet fee” that increased three times the fifteen minutes it took them to check my dog in that i was told was literally just to put her in the system and then I was the fourth person in line 15 min BEFORE open time, but literally watched EVERY SINGLE PERSON (close to 20 people/pets) who checked in after me, (even an hour after I had been here they checked in and in two minutes are seen), get seen before my dog.

Ever since they did away with scheduled appointments, this place has become impossible. You simply cannot see a vet for any reason without waiting hours -- something I just can't afford to do with a full-time job. My dog also never sees the same veterinarian twice, and this has resulted in conflicting recommendations for her care. A truly inexcusable business model designed to maximize cash-flow at the expense of pet care and customer convenience. Avoid. We will be changing vets as soon as we can find another to take us.

Horrible horrible veterinary hospital. My dog has been a patient of Smith's for years, 13 to be exact. Service started going downhill a few years ago. Last night, my 13yr old collie mix had what we believe to be a stroke. She was frantically pacing in circles, extremely disoriented and excessive panting and drooling. We called Smith's, begging them to get her in. It was 7:15pm, and they were open for another hour. The very rude girl who answered the phone told us that there was no way they would see my dog because they were closing soon (IN FORTY-FIVE MINUTES!!!!). I begged and she rudely told me to wait until morning. My dog started having grand mal seizures a few hours later, and after a painful night full of suffering, she passed away at home this morning. All I have to say is this, shame on you Smith's Veterinary Hospital. You should be horribly ashamed of yourselves. The only thing this "animal hospital" cares about is making money. They do not care about you, or the animal that you love so dearly. Please find a more reputable vet who will care for your animal like they matter, because they do not matter to Smith's.

Thank you for taking care of our baby Maximus. Truly was worried that he would not make it. Dr Trujillo and staff kept me updated. He is doing fantastic! Thank you for your professionalism and caring. ❤️

Worst place to take your pet! We were visiting NM & had to take our pet in because he allergies got worse being there. They stated they could see her & there was a fee for $145 deposit and then the shot fee. Before we left we asked if there were any other fees to be paid they said no we were good to go. Then later that night we got a call stating that we still owed them $145 more because there was an emergency fee along with paying for the shot (which by the way did not work & our Vet here in AZ stated the brown dose they gave her is not the Cytoplast its a clear liquid) and we still had to bring her back to our normal Vet to take care of her. I will never take our dog to someone outside of our normal Vet because they didn't care about her they just saw money & that is not right or how you do business or expect people to refer others to your company! Buyer beware that you get everything laid out before you take your pet! They were supposed to send us a bill breakdown by email while we were still in NM & call us but their manager Jessica never did and now in the mail we are getting a bill for that difference. Funny part now is on the bill isn't asking for an Emergency fee they are stating that the fee is for the allergy shot of $145. Crazy because that is nothing of what we pay in Arizona for the same shot. Sad that you can't trust people or businesses anymore especially during these times when you would think that people would be more caring and concerned! I guess that doesn't make a difference anymore! It's the principal of what your are told by one person & then it changes to fit the narrative which is not right.
