I feel like people usually only leave bad reviews for rentals so I wanted to leave a good one. I booked a rental online, a very nice guy at the counter gave me keys, and I was on my way 5 min later.
This is a tiny airport and there are very few Ubers or Lyfts nearby so definitely recommend renting if you’re a traveler

Great experience renting with Hertz from SAF for a 5-day trip. Pick up was quick. Car was right across the street from airport terminal, super easy pick up access to walk to the lot, and car was in great condition. Absolutely would rent from Hertz again here. (I had called them in advance because I was concerned about a few 1-star reviews where people said cars weren’t there when they arrived, but they explained they don’t keep many cars on the lot so if you rent short notice under 24 hours that is when you could run into an issue as they frequently have to bring in cars from Albuquerque if they get a lot of bookings.)

I wish I could give 0 stars. They didn’t honor first previously scheduled “reservation confirmation” for me or several other customers because they had no cars (the point in reservations). Scheduled another one 2 days later, they didn’t have one and was told to “wait here until someone returns a car” 1.5 hours later, received a car. Attempted to swap out a few days later for the vehicle requested, and they couldn’t accommodate but again I could come wait for someone to return to swap… but refused to. Returned the car a few days later to go with a different company with the vehicle requested and they charged me $400 extra for turning the car in 3 weeks early! They kept the bill for the extra days even though the manager told me 30 seconds prior that there was no penalty and that I’d be reimbursed the difference for the days returned early. The manager said there was nothing he could do and to call corporate to get it “corrected”. I have not attempted that call yet, cause I’ve spent over 3-4 hours of my life and the 4 th day attempting to get this resolved and now the issue is on me to call, wait, and convince them to correct their self created issue. I am still waiting for a manager to call back from the first two complaints made over the last few days. I will likely have AMEX remove the charge after being frustrated beyond exhaustion with this company. It should be easy, straight forward and flawless to rent a vehicle for thousands of dollars.

Avoid! Fraudulently charged for 8 gallons of gas when the car was returned with a full tank. Seems to be an ongoing scam at this location.

Don’t trust this location. Pick a different rental company in Santa Fe. Flew in with a confirmed reservation to be told “unfortunately sir our website over booked and we don’t have any vehicles”. Unacceptable !!!!

I had a great experience with Hertz Car Rental. The pickup process was quick and easy. My SUV was ready when I arrived, and the staff were efficient and professional. The vehicle was clean, in good condition, and exactly what I had reserved.
Drop-off was just as smooth and took only a few minutes. Everything was clearly explained, and there were no surprises with the charges. Overall, it was a hassle-free experience from start to finish. I would definitely rent from Hertz again.

On the first day of our rental, we had a check engine light come on. Called, and after long hold times with corporate, our only option was to to return an hour behind us to get another car, where we were told one was available. Upon arrival, we were told there was not a car for us and corporate never contacted them. A second call to corporate suggested we ask for a downgrade, which was, in fact, available. However, no adjustment to the price on the exchange, although we now had a much smaller car. No compensation for time wasted or even gas. I was offered a $100 voucher for next car rental. Staff was considerate, but ultimately unhelpful. I sent a messsge to Hertz and got zero response. I'd suggest another car rental place if you're looking for a company that stands behind their reputation.

Extremely unprofessional and they don't keep sufficient vehicles for their customers even when they have reservations.
