My wife and I’s experience at La Posada de Santa Fe was absolutely marvelous. I was shocked by people’s reviews stating it was old and not taken care of. This property is over 150 years old in some places, that’s the point! Beautiful architecture, and history all around you. We especially loved the wood fire place in our room, the staff was more than happy to help us with opening the damper when we needed it for our fire. The location is also within walking distance of everything you might need. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy this place again. Being a Platinum member, I can confidently say this was one of the best locations within Marriott we’ve been to.

This historic hotel is a great place to stay at. There are plenty of amenities and kind staff. The history of the building is interesting and fits the history of Santa Fe.

My room was not touched the entire 3 days I was here. All I really wanted was my coffee restocked and death trap of a broken, rusty ironing board swapped out. No such luck - even though I walked to the front desk every day to ask. Why not just call, you ask? Because the phone in my room was just a prop. No dial tone. Even though it was plugged in. The front desk assured me daily that the coffee would be restocked and that the room would be tidied - never happened. The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the shuttle, no matter how old and dirty.I’ve stayed at many hotels in SF, more and less expensive than this place that have delivered a higher quality of service on all fronts. Probably won’t stay here again.Signed,Undercaffeinated and underwhelmed

I am a Marriott with elite status for life. I have stayed in Marriotts throughout the world for years and years … probably over 1200 nights this far. I feel like I have some credibility when it comes to hotels. The PROS:Very friendly staffVery friendly valetCourtesy shuttle within a 2-mile locationGreat location with easy walk to EVERYTHINGThe CONS:Rooms are dated and SMALL. we asked for a larger room before check in. Allegedly we got a larger double queen suite. It was so small we had to store our luggage in the bathroom. Absolutely not worth the money. So I asked to move to a suite or decided we would check out 5 days early. They found a suite which was twice the size. Second floor (no elevator)Restaurant is grossly overpriced with underwhelming service. Asking for a glass of water or a lemon multiple times is frustrating. The restaurant staff are untrained and the manager needs to work on it. I ordered hot tea but the tea choices were terrible so I switched to ice tea (which was old and awful) and was charged for both. Asking for utensils. Asking for ice because they put water but don’t have ice. Getting up from table to get our own menus. Unacceptable.Parking. HORRIFIC. forced valet with a lot that holds about 15 cars and yours goes straight to the garage. Then you cannot access it without valet street parking is on a meter. So basically like it or not, you are going to valet park regardless of whether you want to or not. We hated it!! we drove up and parked the car with the valet and went back to our room for about a half hour. We came back in our car was still sitting in the same spot. Idling for 30 minutes. They had the window down so my husband opened the door and turned off the car. Who knows how long they would have left our car sitting idling. Not only is it bad for the environment, it’s not good for cars to leave them sitting running for so long!!! Whyyyyy??!Rooms. Just not impressive. We got to see a regular room and a suite. They need updating. Our coffee machine didn’t work. The mineral water in the lobby was $7 per bottle. ArghhhhLOBBY. Small small small!Courtesy Shuttle. it was nice to have a courtesy shuttle, but it would only take you within 2 miles. Not 2.3 miles. So you were very limited and where you could go keeping in mind, you could not access your car unless the valet went to pick it up. We did use the courtesy shuttle often. One day we took the shuttle to the mall because we had to buy more winter clothes. The driver showed up to pick us up. Everyone of us was holding two HIGE bags in addition, two cases of water cases of soda and all of our coats. The driver sat in the SUV without getting out to help us not even once. That only did he not get out of the car, he did not even open the back for us. So I had to walk around to the driver and ask him to please open the door so we could put away our stuff. When we got back to the hotel, again, he sat there in the car ignoring us while we got out and got all of our stuff out. I was absolutely floored at how truly unprofessional he was. Also never said a word to us the entire drive to the hotel. Weird. No one deserves a tip for that little assistance that he could’ve offered us and it would’ve made a huge difference. It was just flat out rude. can someone please train these people that the appropriate action for a courtesy driver is to help your passengers who are also guest at the hotel? Seriously. While we were there it snowed. They do shovel the walks but being on the at second floor no one touched our stairs, walkways or balconies so they sat under mounds of snow. Then they turned to ice.also, the hotel advertises on the app that there is a laundry room on site. We have been traveling for two weeks so imagine our surprise when we learned the only thing we could do is to go laundromat in the area about one and a half miles away.Kudos to Rafael and the valet guys. The staff is very friendly and they do try to help but this was overall a disappointing 4-star Marriott.

Great location, close to central Sante Fe & the Plaza. Beautiful property with thoughtful landscaping & decor. They have beautiful plants & sculptures.Love the local art highlighted around the property. As a valet-only parking property they have a shuttle available to pick-up & drop off until 10pm.Love that they are dog friendly too. they have multiple doggie potty stations which is great. Staff are wonderful & welcoming. Breakfast options are lovely. Would highly recommend & be returning again soon.

The location and the look of the hotel is super nice. I don’t even mind the small rooms. However the rooms themselves aren’t being taken care of. The make up mirror in the bathroom was broken, the toilet was broken, and the tv was also broken. We wanted to watch a movie and couldn’t even do that. Furthermore I left my brand new iPhone charger in the room upon check out and when I called the next day to see if I can grab it/if it was found, I was told by the front desk (after about 3 hours of waiting for a call back) that they weren’t able to locate it. For a hotel that touts itself to be this nice I’m surprised that things that the guests may leave behind aren’t kept more safely. If they had my things I’d have more respect for this establishment but as it stands, this is a pass. After staying here over three times, we won’t be coming back.

Positives: Great Location near downtown Sante Fe.Cons: While the website indicates the hotel is pet friendly, there is a charge of $150 for a pet buried in the fine print so this is a little disceptive. Our room was not ready until nearly an hour after we were supposed to be able to check in. We booked two rooms, both for around $250. Neither is what I would have expected for this price. One was nearly a third the size of the other room with a door adjoining a nearbing room that blocked no sound at all. The small room was more dissapointing than something you would get for half the price at a highway 1 star hotel. The second room was at least more than a tiny room with a bed taking up the entire space. But the room itself was still just medoicre and certainly not reflective of the price or 4star rating this hotel seems to have given itself. There was no lights in the main living room area which made it fairly useless as a place to hang out in the evening. When I brought my concern on the descrepancy in rooms to the front desk the response was essentially if you were a member we could have upgraded your room if you asked with an emphasis on how unique each room was. Easy to say as I'm leaving. You should get what you pay for and get a consistent product without having to go through the effort of moving all your belongings and haggling with the front desk to get a room that reflects this hotels 4star rating.
