CASH ONLY. No way to know this until you’re there and going down the driveway. +3 stars simply bc I really appreciate what they’re doing and wanted to shop there, but -2 because I wasted my time and gas for nothing when it could easily be on the website and Google listing that they only accept cash. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!

Went in 15 minutes before they closed. There was lady in one of the buildings. I told her I had a few questions and I would be back this weekend. She was more than helpful. Showed me where everything was. She was very knowledgeable. She even told me I could start some of one’s she didn’t carry from seed. Very helpful. I will be back. Great experience.

I used to frequent a reputable organic nursery close to downtown, but one never knew how one would be received there. After COVID, I lost my tolerance for retail buzzkill. Enter the Shangri-la that is Plants of the Southwest: Happy, relaxed, helpful staff; beautiful grounds with ample parking; a knockout of an owner who is a cross between Kate Hepburn and Jane Goodall; an encyclopedic catalogue full of wit and wisdom; super-healthy organic plants that are reasonably priced; and a restaurant that makes you feel as if you're at a spa in Tuscany...hence the five stars.

On June 9 I reserved the restaurant for a party of 25 people; the party was scheduled for July 16. I gave Olive, the manager, a deposit for $250 which was the amount she requested. The check was cashed two days later. One July 14, two days before the scheduled party, Olive called and said that she had to cancel the party because she had a sprained ankle. Two days before the party!!!! The next day, the owner, Gail Haggard , called for my address so that they could return the deposit money. Weeks went by without my receiving any check or any communication. Finally, in August, when I threatened to file a Small Claims Court action, they returned my money.

Today I was looking for a Trumpet Vine. I googled and I came across Plants of the Southwest. My first visit. I highly recommend Plants of Southwest. Great customer service, a large variety of native plants and I bought me a Trumpet Vine.

Regarding PSW Kitchen .. This is my first review on Google and I had hoped a different outcome would've taken place but as I never got a returned phone call from the owner or an email (after leaving a message and emailing) I decided to go ahead and post publicly my experience. I had the pleasure of discovering PSW last season and had three enjoyable meals there. At the beginning of this season 2022 I wrote as requested to text in order to make a reservation and was told there were none available which I found quite odd as they had just opened and the season is quite long. I wished the Chef congratulations on her successful business and to let me know if anything became available.. never hearing back.. only to find out a couple of days later that four different friends of mine were successful in making reservations. After that a girlfriend of mine showed up for a confirmed reservation for 1 person at PSW and was told that they did not have enough food and she was turned away. My friend was very embarrassed and left in tears. I texted the chef to relay my experience and my friends' ...thinking that I might get an apology or an explanation or an invite back. Instead this is what she responded.. And this is an EXACT copy of the text I received. "Your self indulgent, white lady entitlement & threats gave me the best laugh I've had in an age But you are absolutely delusional....to the extent of believing your own very crafted scenario, which is probably true for everything single thing that goes on in that entitled brain of yours And your harassing me Shame on you...AND your tiny bird friend" Meanwhile this Chef does not know me nor she does not know what race I am and I found it EXTREMELY offensive. I might add I never harassed her... Simply texted her relaying my experience & my friends' and honestly was quite shocked at her response. After receiving her unfortunate text I left a message & sent an email requesting the owner to call me so I could relay my experience. To date I have never heard back from the owner and I think my experience at PSW is disgusting. I would never frequent this place again I can assure you and for any professional to be in the capacity that she is I find absolutely deplorable.

Olive's food is so fresh, beautiful and grounding. I always feel like I went to a healing food retreat when I am lucky enough to get a reservation. Emily's desserts are mind blowing as well and so memorable years later. Grateful for their creatuons and in such a natural and beautiful setting. Thank you ???

Bought a $40 plant at Plants of the Southwest and after returning home I realized I would not be able to plant it in the location I needed it due to the size of the hole they recommended because of the drip system. Called them the next day to see if I could return for store credit so I could get some other plants and they refused.. It was still in the original container. I will take my business to Agua Fria Nursery, Paynes or Newmans in the future.

Love this place! If you want your plants to live through the seasons, take some time and really talk to these folks! They're ALWAYS so knowledgeable and helpful and give you tips you didn't know you might need. Great selection, healthy plants, & friendly staff. They only take cash so be sure to take some out before you go. You'll want to buy more than you came for, so be prepared! It's well worth it!
