This is an unreasonably cool operation. As a northbound CDT hiker they held my resupply box, they filled an advanced grocery order keeping my perishables in a fridge until I arrived, and they made showering & laundry a breeze. Extremely accommodating and friendly.

While planning a visit to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, I learned about Doc Campbell's Post. This quaint little outpost caters to travelers, visitors, and hikers from the Continental Divide Trail. Most everything you might need as a camper/hiker can be found here. It's really great. One of the things previous visitors raved about was the homemade ice cream. The coffee flavor seemed to be a favorite. I tied some. It was so good I had to try other flavors. The staff is very friendly, really down to earth folks. They encouraged me to wander the post and look around. They're so welcoming. If you're visiting the area for whatever reason, you really should stop by (and try some ice cream). Check the post hours before hand.

Love stopping at this store after a long day at the river. Amazing customer service! The Lopez family are amazing people, providing an excellent storefront. Best ice cream in the southwest!!!!

What jerks! We stopped to grab some food and take our little pups and eat under the shade trees. They literally RAN out of the store telling me dogs weren't allowed where the shade was and to take them back by my car! Where there was NO shade. Took our money and our family and left.

As a CDT hiker, I had sent my resupply here April 2022. I arrived after closing time but still I was helped with a camp spot and resupply. My box was lost but they did their best and my package was found :) There is absolutely no need to send a resupply here. Doc Campbells really has everything for your resupply (sorry, I didn't know). Support local economy. Thank you for your service.

Racists! My husband was stopped and asked to empty his swim trunks pocket because the old woman thought he was stealing. He is an adult black man who came in with his family. We had suvineers in hand and discussing which ice creams to buy when he was pulled aside to empty his one tiny pocket. To steal what? A $2 magnet? It was offensive and disappointing. The people who work/own the establishment should be ashamed of their racist behavior.

Found this place by accident during a camping trip and was completely surprised and how nice it was inside and out. Friendly staff and beautiful interior and not to mention great stock on camping/backpacking necessities. I also adore the new mexico traditional look to it as it eludes the traditional quality of family owned business. Anyways, ill say this is the best stop if your camping near the dwellings or lake roberts!

Forgot something for your camping trip?Chances are you'll find it there, and since you are there try their home made ice cream. Great place to shop, and friendly owners.

My brother and I stopped this afternoon on the way to the cliff dwellings, and had some homemade ice cream. We talked with Angus Campbell for awhile and had a nice visit! I had prickly pear margarita ice cream and coffee ice cream. Very highly recommend ???✝️?In the pic, the open is prickly pear margarita (mild flavor) and the back is coffee

You must stop at this post after your Gila Monument hike or whenever you find yourself in this part of the world. They have the best home made ice cream and have a wide selection of cold sodas. They have a sundry and souvenir shop. There’s some tables outside. We had the lemon berry ice cream and coffee ice cream. They’re world class.

Great Stop! The new owners are wonderful and very helpful to all those that stop by. Great selection of food for a hiker resupply stop. They were also generous enough to allow me a ride back to town with them. Greatly appreciated! I look forward to my stop there again next year. Hopefully a bit earlier in the season with cooler temperatures. :)P.S. Great ice cream!
