There is nothing compelling about this hotel, either in appointments or location. Sunland Park is, literally, in the middle of nowhere outside a yucky part of northwest El Paso. I will say the room was clean and the bed comfortable but you can get that anywhere. While the hotel is loosely connected to the racetrack and casino, you have to walk from one building to the other. The path to get there is serpentine, divided by low walls navigating through the employee parking lot. The food at the casino is barely average and you'll have to drive anywhere else. While I-10 construction is going on, this is a place to avoided at all costs. The late 4pm check-in time assures you'll be right in the middle of gridlocked rush hour traffic trying to get there.

The hotel has been there for about 6 years. Next to Sunland Casino and race track. Our first room was next to the elevator & maid room. NOISY!!! Guest come in and out all night. I'm not sure if they go to the casino or not, but lots of activity. This was during weekday, and no horse races were running. Beds are ok, but the beds sit high for average person. Almost have to jump up. Cleanlines was good in the first room. Moved to second room due to excessive noise. The second room on the same floor was not as bad as ti the noise, but it was stinky. As if previous guess walked around without shooes and had stinky feet. I had a can of Lysol, so I used it. Front desk personnel were not happy about moving us, so I just didn't want to deal with any more moving. On the morning of the first night in the second room, the maid came into the room without knocking or announcing herself. I was still in bed. It was around 8 am or a little after. I also heard a customer talking with the maid just outside my room, the man was acusing her of stealing his wallet and ring. Don't know who he was but he seemed upset. It made me think since she opened my door without a knock and announcing herself. I took my valuables and left them in my car the rest of my time there just in case. Hotel seems really nice but I'm not staying there again. To noisy, big generator close to south side of the building, guess seem to be people who like going to the casino and the one room was to stinky. For a few more $ I can stay at Holiday in Express.

Pros: Good Location, Quiet & Plenty of Parking
Cons: Staff is Slightly Rude, Housekeeping is Lazy, No Continental Breakfast
Major Concerns: Hotel doesn't have a Generator, The power went out during stay. With no Generator, or back up power source this hotel has no Heat, A/C or Elevator. If you are handicaped or rely on medical equipment (Oxygen or CPAP), or if you're in a wheel chair. Would not recommend this location at all. You are putting your health and safety at risk. Power outages can happen anytime of day or night.
Rooms: Rooms where Clean upon arrival. Housekeeping makes the bed, but doesn't touch anything else.
Safety: Not Handicap or Medically Friendly establishment. Hotel should have a generator or viable power source during power outages.
