This is an outstanding place in every way--beautiful, charming rooms; delicious, interesting food; and great entertainment in the evenings. We have been at the Taos Inn many times and always loved it. I have read some of the reviews and wonder why the people express themselves so poorly--almost to the point of illiteracy. Is English their second language, do you suppose?

Great hotel- fireplace in the room was a major plus! Excellent evening entertainment! Drinks and food were a bit overpriced, but of high quality. It's right across from the center of the town and super convenient. Lots of parking. Would be nice if there were continental breakfast options available at the hotel, but there are options nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

Oh this place is filled with great memories from the days of ski bumming in the 1980's. The decor and architecture is still amazing. But you reader are not here for that trip down memory lane. Let's talk about the Adobe Bar! If you are ready for a nice long wait to be waited upon, and receive copious quantities of water refills, before seeing the margarita you ordered, this is the place for you. Seriously, 15 minutes before taking our order and 16 minutes before being service 2 margaritas. But.... Take it all in. The Taos experience, land of poor customer service unless you are familia. Oh Taos, you have not changed. Same old same old. Inexperienced flustered waitress, probably a bartender that is slowing her service. Yea, all that restaurant hospitality personal interrelationship drama that affects customer service is revealed right here are the adobe bar. Here is my advice, relax. Enjoy the wonderful surroundings and live music. Yes, you dear reader. Give your waitress a little patience. Pause for more than a moment. Maybe enjoy a little conversation with your dining/drinking partner. You will get your margarita, eventually. Oh and it was one hell of a margarita too!! Best of luck to the new owners of Taos Inn! Thank dog the oyster bar is retired.

If you are looking for rustic, this is your place. I will say the room was very nice. Even had a log fireplace if you wanted to make a fire. But the bathroom was tiny and needs a complete remodel. The grout and caulk were yucky. The shower head did not spray correctly. And I hate open showers. Either have a door or a shower curtain. What I think was a heated fan did not work so the bathroom was freezing all the time. The room was spacious though. Nice big comfy bed. Also, I got there very early in the day and they were able to get me into a room. They did everything by text message so that was a bit weird but I never needed anything so all good. Good location to shops and restaurants.

Old times Taos. My parents honeymooned here and I stayed here often before moving back to Taos. Located smack-dab in the middle of it all.

We love staying in historic hotels & the Historic Taos Inn did not disappoint! Starting with the communications from the concierge, Mac, to the day we left, we were made to feel welcome & happy we stayed there. Our room was perfect! Located in a perfect place to walk to restaurants, stores & museums, we loved it! The bar area & restaurant were fun & the food was delicious. Divine, the hostess, was friendly & welcoming in Doc Martin’s. Three days were not enough, we will be back! Thanks, Mac, you’re the best of the best! Cheers!

The new owners are doing worse than the old owners. And the old owners were already doing an extremely terrible job. From the poor lighting in the lobby area, which cannot be dimmed from what I am told, to the intolerably bad, automated phone system that takes 10 minutes of frustration to reach a human inside the hotel, this place is on track to win the worst hotel in New Mexico award. There are a few great people that work here, but they don't stand a chance against the horrible system that is managing and running this property. If you're lucky enough to find someone who will agree to serve you in the restaurant or bar or patio, don't expect to get the right drink or dish off the menu anytime soon. This place is a failure.

I was camping in northern New Mexico when I faced a health situation. I had to go into Taos to pick up a prescription, and a family member generously offered to get me a hotel/motel room for the night. I was supposed to end up at the Quality Inn, but they apparently sold the last pet friendly room just as my family member made the reservation online. After two hours of working things out with Booking(dot)com, my family member told me I had a reservation at the Historic Taos Inn.Wow! Despite the medical situation, it was my lucky night. It sure was a pleasure to stay at the Taos Inn.The lady who checked me in was super nice and called me "my dear." When she realized I had my dog with me, she moved me to a downstairs room, so it would be easier to take the dog out at night if necessary. She explained checkout to me and was exceptionally kind to me when I really needed some kindness.I stayed in a room with two twin beds in the main building. The room was interesting, with Southweste flair. The mattresses were on what seemed to be adobe platforms. I wondered if they would be comfortable, and the one I slept on certainly was! Instead of being side by side, the beds were head to head in the corner against two adjoining walls. It was visually interesting. The room was very clean. The bathroom was very clean too, and there were plenty of towels. There was a closet full of amenities too: two extra blankets, a fan, a space heater, an ironing board, and an iron.FYI, this room did not have a microwave or a refrigerator.I took my ice bucket to the Adobe Bar to get some ice. The bartender was very nice and personable and thanked me for staying there.Complimentary coffee and tea are available in the "library" in the mornings. That was nice, but having some pastries and/or muffins available for guests each morning would be even nicer. The checkout process went smoothly, and the young man working the desk that morning was very helpful.I really enjoyed my night at the Historic Taos Inn and not just because it felt good to take a long, hot shower and sleep in a real bed during my time of health problems. It was nice to spend time in such a safe and lovely space.Rooms: Some rooms are in the main building. Others are accessed from outside.Nearby activities: The Historic Taos Inn in located very close to Taos Plaza and not too far from Kit Carson Park.Safety: I felt safe. My room was in the main building. The doorknob lock locked automatically when the door shut completely. There was also a deadbolt lock that could be used from inside.Food & drinks: There is a restaurant and bar onsite. I didn't order from either, but I think you can get food and drink delivered to your room during the hours the restaurant and bar are open.Noteworthy details: Southwest style and vibe is very cool. Adobe walls and pottery as decor.

This was our 4th or 5th visit to the Historic Taos Inn, the first being in 1992. We have always had lovely stays, but this one nearly caused my husband a trip to the hospital. We had asked for adjoining rooms, and my mother was given the room right next to us, which was perfect. The only problem with our room (203) was that the ceiling was very low in places, and my husband is 6"1" He bumped his head once or twice on a beam in the sitting room area, and at least once at the entryway to our bathroom, despite a "Watch Your Head" sign as one enters. My husband got up in the night to use the bathroom, and ducked his head as he went to step in, but didn't duck down far enough, and hit the top of his head so hard that he fell backward onto the floor. Fortunately, he only passed out for a couple of seconds, and I was able to administer a bag of ice to his head as he lay there. Despite his head being sore for a few days, my husband fortunately didn't have a severe injury. I'm sure many others have hit their heads in this room, perhaps some as hard as my husband had. A "Watch Your Head" sign is useless if there is no nightlight in the room. The best fix to this problem would be to cut out the low part of the bathroom entryway and increase the height about 6 inches. The same should be done for the low ceiling beam in the sitting area of the room. The rest of our stay was fine, and we enjoyed a cocktail in The Adobe Bar. We would definitely come again but will request not to be assigned a room with these dangerously low ceiling areas.

Drinks are expensive here. $20 for a shot of tequila. Head across the street to the distillery for a $15 cocktail for a better deal.

We love Taos, we love Taos Inn, and now we love Charlie who saved the day upon check in! There was a mix up with our reservation due to a third party booking site so there were a few tense moments when we checked in at the front desk after a long day of travelling but Charlie’s excellent customer service and kindness saved the day. He sorted everything out and gave a gorgeous room that we have truly been enjoying! Thanks Charlie! Big shout out to ALL the amazing hardworking staff who really put in the effort with smiles and kindness to make guests feel welcome and taken care of - great team.Rooms: Beautiful and comfortable rooms - very pretty.Walkability: In the heart of beautiful historic centreFood & drinks: Great cocktails and live music in Adobe Bar

As a first-time visitor to Taos, we were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and patience of "Charlie" at the front office. He made sure this cute, folksy hotel was both professional and perfect for my party. People make all the difference and we thank the others, as well as Charlie. We look forward to staying here again, soon. Thanks!

Hadn't stayed at the Historic Taos Inn for over 10 years, and I'm sad to say that time has not been kind to this place. Not sure if there's a shortage of staff or if Covid took its toll on the Inn (and all of Taos for that matter) but the place is worn and could use some TLC. The front desk and wait staffs are all very courteous. The food we had at the restaurant was fine. It's just that for what turned out to be approximately $300 per night, I was expecting a lot more. We stayed in one of the rooms off of a courtyard that hasn't seen a landscaping crew in some time. Honestly, walking through the courtyard to our room felt like we were walking through vacant lot. When we stayed before, the same areas were well tended and added to the feeling that you were staying someplace special. The rooms are tired and the AC in our room was very noisy and inconsistent. We were very much looking forward to visiting again but were sadly disappointed. Hope for the sake of Taos and travelers that they take steps to refurbish this place soon.

We stay here often. The location is great. Next to everything. There is always music in the lobby. The bar is really nice. Staff is amazing. Coffee is provided in the morning. Some rooms have a "Sky Light, " witch is interesting. I recommend staying here.
