“Spent our 27th anniversay here. We will definitely come back. The private rooms are gorgeous and relaxing, the public area was beautiful also. The whole place was gorgeous and most of all relaxing.”

“Hoosier Hot Springs is very nice, very clean, and very relaxing. It's too bad the price has doubled, but I guess the recent improvements made a higher price necessary.

It was lovely to look at the sky and watch the stars appearing while soaking in the evening, but I wouldn't be able to soak there in the daytime as there is no shade cloth or shade structure.

Erica was very nice and accommodating. She was a pleasure to work with, helpful, and willing to answer all my questions.

The tubs are in private areas behind high walls and solid doors that lock. I felt very safe in the area assigned to me for my soak. In addition to the tub full of hot water, the area had a couple of chairs, a place to hang my towel and robe, and a shower for rinsing off before and after soaking.

I would definitely feel comfortable bringing even my pickiest clean freak friends and family members to the Hoosier. However, at $20 for an hour of soaking, my budget will only allow me to soak here on the most special of occasions”

“Rooms: The hotel is historic and so don’t expect it to be new and shiny like a Marriott. It was built in the early 1900’s and it was bought and remodeled by Ted Turner in 2013. There is loads of hot water and the floor kind of creaks a little like any true historic building. It feels classic.

Nearby activities: Drive out down 3rd St to the dam and then the Damsite restaurant. Beautiful drive and it’s not far. You can drive to Hillsboro too. That’s a cool little town not far away. Hatch is the Chile Capitol of the World not far from there. Soaking at the Riverbend Hot Springs is not much more special than soaking at the hotel in the outside tub. Float the Rio Grande in tubes for the afternoon. Drive down the other side of the Rio Grande from the town. Go to the old church up on the bluff in Caballo.

Safety: Totally safe town. Nothing bad happens there.

Food and drinks: The continental breakfast was tasty with green chile, of course, bacon diced up and eggs but I’d recommend eating at a restaurant for breakfast like at Johnny B’s and get the breakfast burrito smothered in green chile. Or the chilaquiles at El Faro restaurant. If you’re only there for a few days, the continental breakfast is good and the pastries are nice and the coffee is quality coffee but I’d recommend eating out. We liked the Outer Edge Pizza a lot. It was really good.

Noteworthy details: The photos in the upstairs hallway are super interesting. Loads of stories from back in the early 1900’s that the waters are healing for Rheumatism. Most people know now that it’s because the town was built on top of loads of crystals and that does something. The movie Eddington with Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone was just filmed there.”

“We stayed here last month while attending to some business. They were accomodating and gave a reasonable cost for an extended stay. The owners seem genuinely interested in being helpful and attentive during the time. You might want to put an exhaust fan in the small washroom since none of the windows can open. We tried to avoid hot showers (due to steam trap) when we noticed some peeling around the shower. Otherwise, the room is fine. Walking around, it seems fairly safe here and a good location. Pets are allowed - however, best taken to one of the nearby dog parks in the area in the mornings. I would definitely stay here again.”

“Much nicer than expected. Rooms were clean. Really good water pressure. Area felt pretty safe. They had free breakfast with microwave burritos, bananas, cereal, toast, and yogurt.

Dog friendly. Pet fee was $20.”

“Had an amazing weekend in one of these lakeside casitas. Was very pleased with the renovation. The casita is somewhere between camping and staying at a hotel. Loved the 1940's vibe. My dogs had a good time, too. Don't let the "no tv" scare you.”

“These reviews are nuts. The owner wasn't rude or anything like that. I knocked on the office, he popped straight out, explained everything quickly, and I went to soak in the large tub in a minute or two tops. The larger tub was perfect for summer heat as it isn't insanely hot but definitely warm and cozy. This was such a a cool experience for $5. Not a bougie establishment and, as some reviews have stated, if you need a white-washed, fancy spa atmosphere go to the dozens of other options. If you want authenticity and not to contribute to the weird Airbnb style takeover and commodification of this cute town, go here!”
