Really well organized CVS. This one is gargantuan. This CVS has everything. All the isles are well lain out and have massive amount of goods on the shelves. So much, the goods are falling off them. There are numerous entrances. Three check-out counters. The CVS folks that work at this location have always been very friendly and helpful in all ways and in all manners. Once, I needed a sheet of paper and they were able to come up with it for me. Check-out is brisk and accurate! The drinks and freezer section does seem to be in perpetual disrepair and it needs more attention for sure (take note staff). Locals that work around this CVS must buy-out all the gatorades, waters and sodas. It's ransacked.Other than that, this CVS is very great. They stay open late in the PM hours when other CVS close early in the evening. There is a separate section for letters and cards, beauty, shampoo, drugs, snacks, summer shopping and even chocolates/candy/chips. That said: can we get an isle for men only?Every time I come to any CVS - and I mean any CVS - half the stores are for babies and women. I spend ten minutes shopping only to find out there is no protein shakes, no beer and the men's shampoo is SOLD OUT!I am sick and tired of 'sheconomy'... Do better for male shoppers CVS, or my next review will be a 1 star.Review: 5

I waited for two hours for a simple prescription. I was at pick up and drop off FIVE TIMES. They hung up on my NP. So she HAD TO CALL my Dr. , it was all in order and I'm still waiting. ONE HOUR LATER, they see me ! There in front of them crying. I finally asked if they forgot me. The pretty incompetent girl said she could put me on 'expedited' My prescription was ready five min later. They were punishing me for being a pain for them with phone calls from doc and every time I had to ask if I was forgotten. That African American clerk, knows nothing about her job. She's jammed up my orders so many times. Move her to register she knows a lot about fake eyelashes. Joey and the pharmacist are so dismissive. They saw saw me breaking down. I spent two hours for a simple perception. Never again! switched everything over to Walgreens.

There are a number of CVS locations in the Capital Region listed on Yelp. Sadly, many of them are not highly rated. I could not find any Yelp listing for the 16 New Scotland Avenue pharmacy in Albany, NY, so it appears I'm providing the first review. I wish I had better things to say.I have a dental infection. My dentist called in a prescription for antibiotics four days ago. My dentist said she couldn't get through, so she left a voicemail. In the days that followed, I called four times to find out if my medication was ready for pick up. Each time, the automated system placed me on extended hold for 10-15 minutes until I would get fed up and just hang up. There was no getting through. Today, I stopped by in person. After a lengthy wait of about 15 minutes--both I and another woman who was also waiting to pick up meds-- were told that our doctors never called-in the prescriptions. Both of us looked puzzled. I called my dentist again and she went through the same process as before of leaving a voicemail with CVS since no one answered the phone. I tried to call CVS myself. Again, I was automatically placed on extended hold. Next, I called CVS headquarters and filed a complaint with customer service. There's no reason for such poor service. Apparently, headquarters has a direct line to every CVS. The rep kept me on hold while she reached out to the 16 New Scotland pharmacy. Whoever answered the phone there claimed that my dentist never left a voicemail. I told CVS that I would be calling my dentist back a third time to request that she call in a new prescription to a nearby Walgreens where I'll be moving all of my business. It's been about 3 hours and Walgreens has my antibiotics ready. I've just checked my phone and CVS at New Scotland is suddenly texting me about preparing the antibiotics order that they claimed they previously "never received." They've apparently located my dentist's voicemails, but it took the corporate office to intervene, No thanks. Too little, too late. I've been a CVS customer for more than 20 years. This particular CVS is located across from Albany Medical Center. Clearly, it's overwhelmed and in dire need of both more staffing and better management. Please get someone to answer the phones. The runaround I was put through was ridiculous. It was also wrong for the staff at CVS to claim my dentist never contacted them when she clearly did.

I have been receiving my prescriptions here for two years and have had several issues. Multiple times I have arrived and received no attention in the drive threw, as a line grew. Eventually all of us have had to just leave. Today, I had an awful experience. After being discharged from the hospital, resulting in a prescription change I was accused of abusing my medication, by the drive threw staff, because of the dosing change (not a controlled substance, rather a hormone replacement). When explaining the situation and empathizing with the rude staff, by stating "I'm sorry this is confusing, I understand" I was told "It's not confusing. Wtf.". If you are in pain, recovering, or already experiencing chronic illness do not go to this location and add to your stress. Will be changing locations ASAP.

I've been getting my prescriptions from this location for few years now and never encountered any problem. But today, first time I encountered a rude attendant over the phone. She hanged up and unwilling to address my concern.

Tip: There are 2 doors. One of them is a dual door that is on the corner facing the hospital. In the past, this has been continually closed and is also usually locked at night so you have to use the other door that is also on New Scotland but closer to SEFCU This place can definitely get the job done and has a lot of different odd things. School supplies is okay there but I wish it was better since it is next to a hospital, law school, and pharm school. Their pen selection is kinda weak and there notebook section can improve a bit. It does have frozen pizzas, beers, energy drinks, Ben and Jerry's Ice cream, snacks, TONS OF SNACKS!

Great place for this CVS I found on my recent jolt to the Pulmonary Care location at the same address. I came in here wanting a bottle of water and a small snack-item, and what I went out with was more than just that. I left with a bottle of water and two small snack items. Was a little unhappy when I went to have my stuff rung up at the register. After I asked them to find my ExtraCare card account, they checked and tried to verify my email was correct, and although I'd hooked up my email at another location nearer me, my email address "got lost" and so I had to input it into their system after they turned their POS display towards me to input it. Shouldn't my ExtraCare card information be linked throughout the whole CVS network so that information stored in one place should carry-over to other CVS locations elsewhere worldwide? The employee who rung my order up had me laughing when her and the person in line ahead of me accidentally had some other product drop on the floor that wasn't supposed to happen but did (you should've been there to see what happened as there's no great words to explain this situation in a nutshell.) Was is with the entrances? There's one entrance that has stairs leading up to the entrance, and without knowing of the other entrance (that could have saved me quite some time in the cool air outside) I entered and exited through the doors opposite where the register rung me up and completely at the same corner of the market where I just needed to go through - all because there's no markings that there's another entrance there from inside the store down the one end. I thought that wasn't too sweet.
