Our AARP group just had a trip to see the castles. We stayed T Edgewood Resort. What a fabulous place. Our rooms were right on the St Lawrence River. Rooms very clean and comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner food was fabulous. We were treated like royalty with Charles tending to every need. You won't be disappointed staying here.
Nearby activities: Visited Singer and Boldt castles, 1,000 Island Winery, American Boat Museum, 1,000 Island Museum.

Stayed here while on a bus trip with a group of adults. The location was great for our purpose, which was touring the 1000 Islands area, including a few castles and wineries.
Charles, the manager, made our stay enjoyable. He and his staff were very attentive and accommodating. They even bent over backwards to make sure that they gave us rides on a golf cart to the restaurant or our bus when needed.
I stayed in Big Moose lodge and the view from the balcony was great. I saw Heart island with Boldt castle, and had a panoramic view of the St. Lawrence River. Many boats went by and it was a great place for birding, reading and relaxing. This seems like a place that families would enjoy. There is a lot of space outside for kids to run around and explore. Other than the restaurant, I would not call this an upscale place.
Since I was with a group, we ate our seafood buffet dinner in the private banquet room they call the gazebo/red room since the restaurant was busy. It had a stage, a bar, a large balcony, couch, etc. It was connected to the gift shop/lobby area and restaurant. Unfortunately, it was overcast and rainy the whole time I was there (and it was just passed Labor Day) so I didn't get to use the outdoor pool, but it looked nice. The only real complaint I had was the Wi-Fi. I found it very hard to make a phone call from my room.
Nearby activities: Close to tourist attractions, like Boldt castle and Uncle Sam's boat tours.

Attended an event here recently. The location is outstanding being on the St.Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay New York. I did not stay in a room but was told they are very nice. The event center was nice and the food was excellent. The staff was helpful and very nice. Looks like a fantastic place to spend a couple of days to relax.

Rooms: Great view only and nice updated bathrooms. Awful uncomfortable hard beds! Couch blocks a/c unit in room. Screws sticking out of the deckboards. A/c unit very weak. Often very warm in the room. Houseeping and front desk ignore your requests for help. Bathroom sink wouldn't drain.
Food and drinks: Has a gorgeous dining room but doesn't offer any breakfast or meals during the week. Even during the summer peak times.

Food and drinks: We drive by the sign advertising the Saturday night prime rib buffet every year and finally stopped in to try it out. I wish we hadn't waited so long! The food was amazing but the service was even better. The staff was friendly, attentive and you could tell loved their jobs. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, butter knife tender and perfectly sized portions. The rest of the buffet was fresh and delicious. High quality. Including dessert options. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay on the water in Alex Bay. Nice well kept grounds, room was clean and spacious, and animal friendly. Staff that was encountered was nice. Also available: a heart shaped pool, fire pit, and dock space for boats under 40'.
Rooms: Great space for a "cottages" with large closets, a kitchenette, and plenty of space for a kennel if needed. The claw tub is a nice touch in the bathroom, too.
Nearby activities: Downtown Alex Bay with restaurants, bars, and shops. Scenic Thousand islands boat tours and Boldt Castle visits available to book out of downtown Alex Bay. Clayton is a short drive also.
