Best hotel in the area for sure. Clean and comfortable and the folks working there are super friendly and helpful. Can't beat the location if you're visiting the universities.

Unsanitary conditions specilly the breakfast everything that didn't get eaten or drank went right into plastic bags and frozen. Nothing was fresh at all..and the co workers popping perks and xanax like candy.. Tell Kristen the manager Thanks for firing me over email because I missed a sock and tissue paper under the bed..

This was our first visit to the Saxon Inn. They book up fast for all of the special events that Alfred State and AU have so we were lucky enough to get called off the waitlist this time! It was so convenient, clean, and had such an amazing and friendly staff! I hope the next time we visit a room is available because it did not disappoint.

Very friendly and helpful staff! Rooms and bathrooms were clean, and basic toiletries are provided. Beautiful location and good walking distance to Main Street where there is a couple of eateries and a cute coffee shop.

Simply lovely. Beds feel like sleeping on clouds. Super clean. Easy reservation. Great on campus location. Unbelievably quiet in the rooms. Nice views out the windows. Good effort to provide continental breakfast during pandemic with plenty of grab and go choices. 24 hour hit water for tea or cocoa. Friendly staff.

I am an AU '63 graduate. I was in Alfred with my grandson who is looking at Alfred's Ceramic Design program. My first time at the Saxon Inn. I love the design and the quality of the building materials. The beds and bedding were superb. Only issue was a slow drain in the shower which I dutifully reported to the management. Paul Herold

Off street parking on Alfred University Property . Convenient to this and SUNY Alfred. Nice place. It was quiet at night and water hot on the morning. Furniture is nice but older. Rooms clean and warm in colder weather. Continental breakfast was not so continental. Simple store bought wrapped pastry, coffee, juice and yogurt. Breakfast room is still off limits for use I would assume due to Covid although infections on this area are very low and not life threatening, and there is almost nowhere to have breakfast comfortably. Honestly for the price of the room, breakfast could have been better.

We were in town for a family function and rented 4 rooms. We are all in our 50's. The place looks nice and is presentable. Our room had 2 double beds and the furniture was packed in so you could barely pass through between the desk and the wall. The rooms are outdated and the carpet is filthy. The tub didn't drain. There is no gathering space in the hotel to sit with family (8 of us) and have a drink or something to eat and talk. The front desk person Saturday night harassed us about wearing a mask while we ate and drank in the sitting area of the lobby. We are all vaccinated, and we had our masks to use when we were not eating or drinking. We were told we could go outside and sit at the benches in front of the hotel to talk. After about 15 minutes the front desk person came out to tell us we couldn't sit outside any longer as there was someone in a room above the outside sitting area that wanted their windows open and didn't want to listen to us. We were not loud. I have been to many places and this hotel has the worst customer service I have ever experienced, unfortunately they are the only decent place in town to stay. I really wanted to like this place but the staff made it impossible. Not once did I see the front desk staff clean or wipe down anything as people came and went. They simply harassed people about masks. The dining area was closed, breakfast was packaged pastries, muffins and undrinkable coffee. I reported the tub not draining and the brown water coming out of the faucets. If we go again, we will stay in Hornell.

The only place to stay when visiting Alfred University and we have visited the university on numerous occasions and stayed here. The hotel is very comfortable especial the renovated rooms and the rooms with a fireplace. Beds and betting are comfortable, towels are new and plush, service is welcoming. There is coffee, tea and snacks served. Book early since this hotel is in high demand.

We had a two night stay for a reunion nearby. After trying to get a place to stay a friend recommended the Saxon. Thank You very much. In the future we will certainly book this accommodation. Price wise it is competitive with the chain hotels but oh the place is so much more than any motel.

Very nice place to stay in the town. Customer service is fabulous. They did not open their kitchen yet as of July 2021.
