COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL
After more than 30 years as a patient at this office, my husband was dropped by Dr.Droege without any notification.
-no phone call, no letter, nothing.
We only found out when I called to schedule an appointment for a serious medical issue that had sent him to the emergency room the night before. That's when I was told he was no longer considered a patient due to “inactivity” and that the office was not accepting new patients. The staff member I spoke with was polite and said she would check with Dr.Droege on Monday to see if he would reinstate my husband- but he refused. This is a patient he has treated for years, and yet he refused to see him even in the middle of a medical crisis.
What makes this even more frustrating is that my husband's medical records and blood work results have continued to be sent to this office from specialists many times. If he was considered “inactive”, why did they continue accepting his lab work without notifying him that he was no longer a patient? That seems like a serious breach of responsibility
-if not a HIPAA violation.
If their policy is to drop patients after a period of inactivity, fine, but the lack of communication is completely unacceptable.
Now in the middle of a serious health concern, we're left scrambling to find a new primary care provider while my husband remains undiagnosed.
This office clearly does not care about its long-term patients. Avoid them at all costs.

Ever since they were bought out by or otherwise merged with Carondelet Regional Medical patient care has gone downhill. I used to be able to call in the morning and get an appointment that same day. But now I'm lucky if I get a call back in the same day, much less have an appointment.

I’ve loved our experiences with the office staff who are always kind and understanding, always friendly. I also really enjoy our appointments with Nichole Santiago. She is personable and thorough. We never feel rushed and always feel heard. Thank you everyone!

Called to schedule an appointment with the OBGYN’s office for a PAP as a new patient as I am likely overdue for one. The receptionist informed me that they HAD to have all of my medical records before even scheduling the appointment. As a military spouse that has lived and delivered babies in 4 separate states- some up to 12 years ago, I’ve never been asked for my medical records to be *allowed* to make an appointment for a necessary medical test like that. Isn’t the dr office supposed to have you sign a release at your first appointment to have those records sent directly to them? In my experience-yes….but apparently not here. Is it even legal to refuse care in this manner? Also, probably not.
Additionally, prior to calling to schedule I was seen twice over the past year in the ER for covid and gastroenteritis and was treated well by the whole ER staff-so the receptionist could very likely see that I had been seen by the ER before and have a rare disease-either way it’s not ethical to require medical records prior to making an appointment for such a simple yearly procedure. I will not be returning to any realm of St. Mary’s for my medical care. This is one of many reasons why people are ashamed of what the US medical system has come to.

My family, now grown, and I have been patients for 36 years. You are playing with fire at any emergency room but in Albany and some things just are more serious than urgent care. They are short staffed so you need to be understanding

I've used this practice with me and newborns for over 30 years. They have seasoned doctors and PA Santiago is also knowledgeable and supervised. Bear in mind they serve an unhealthy population and have lost a doctor. So got real emergencies, go to Albany, but even an ER may be a relatively unsupervised PA, which is really 3 plus 2 years, not 4 plus 4 plus 3 years of MD training. Urgent care is an accident waiting to happen for anything that is not basic. OrthoNY and Cardiology Associates of Schenectady have walkin hours, so that is appropriate as needed. Plan your concerns to present them concisely and logically.

I have been going here for many many years and have had no problems with the staff or my doctor. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’ve had the best care.

Dr. Cummings has been my primary care physician for some time since I’ve left my pediatrician due to my age getting older, and I’ve been mostly happy with his services, (my grandparents on both sides of my family are his patients as well) up until now. There’s a review listed below that if you have any symptoms that they deem “viral” in cause or nature, that they will refuse to see you unless you provide a negative COVID test; and unfortunately I’ve found that out today to be true, almost 3 years post-pandemic.Long story short; I’ve been having some ongoing on and off head colds/sinus issues and I’ve also been attending ENT visits with Dr. Tan at St. Mary’s on Route 30 nearby, and had an allergy test done, but all tests were negative and they were unable to get me in for a follow up to an allergy test until January 10th. Figured I’d consult my PCP in the mean time to see if they had any input for me while I wait; what a mistake that was.I was offered also a tele-health virtual visit by a nurse (unacceptable in my opinion), as I’d like to go in person and consult the doctor directly, but wouldn’t let me in unless I furnish a negative test, which I already know is not even close to being COVID-related.After the holidays, I’m going to look into another primary care provider, possibly closer to home since I live in Gloversville and this is in Amsterdam.Just seems a bit outlandish to need to provide a COVID test if I have zero symptoms and allergy issues to see my PCP about care, when they should be my first line of defense. Look elsewhere for care.

I followed FNP Nichole Santiago from the Gloversville practice to the Amsterdam one. I enjoy and appreciate having Nichole as my care provider . Not only is she extremely knowledgeable & helpful she is very caring and quick to help or answer any questions comments or concerns you have. She listens, helps, and mentors the best she can! I highly recommend Nichole.

Despite being two years into this pandemic they continue to refuse to see you if you have anything they consider to be “viral”. Myself and multiple family members have been turned away simply for having a fever. They simply refuse to see you and tell you to go to Urgent Care or the ER. They don’t offer to test you for covid or even see you virtually, they simply wipe their hands of you. It’s impossible to get return calls from them, you automatically get a voicemail anytime you call and the staff if very rude, dismissive, and constantly misdiagnosing. They are not doing right by their patients and I recommend anybody still seeing them switch providers for their safety.
