Staff isn’t very friendly and since I started going to this one (about a month ago) their drink cooler has been broken. Fix it maybe. Might seem crazy I know but just an idea.
Update; Now a daily customer and 3 years later not much has changed. I will give credit where credit is due and the employees are very friendly now. However since the remodel last summer the ice cream freezer worked for a little bit but it’s been “out of order” for at least two months now. Cmon management, DO YOUR PART TOO! Your employees certainly are. I really need to start paying more attention to marked prices vs what they actually ring up as. I went to buy something that was clearly marked one price and rang up a completely different one. I really don’t want to do the extra travel to the one up the road a couple miles but it’s looking like I might have to.

Tonight (7/23/25) I went to the Apalachin Dollar General with a tiny battery from a ~31 year old cheap plastic picture frame that had a voice recording from my dad who passed away last month. I couldn’t make out the battery type on the surface (probably need new readers too), so I found a pack that appeared the same size & asked a young man who worked there: Can you see if I have the right type? He examined it, tried to find the same type around the store and couldn’t. Then he actually looked online with his cell phone and confirmed my battery was interchangeable with the new version we found in store. I explained to him I was trying to keep a precious recording of my dad’s voice & he said please come back and let me know if it worked. What a wonderful person who really cared. The batteries worked & I consider this trip to Dollar General priceless. Thank you so much, you made a big difference in a stranger’s life tonight. I wish I asked your name!

Usually good (enough) . But watch your receipts. Dollar general is known for prices in the aisle being less than what scans. Google it

If i was able to give NONE or NEGATIVE stars I certainly would, the wanna be night manager (dont know names due to no name tags) is one of the most disrespectful and lazy people i have ever come across, she grabbed the item i was holding and literally spitting on me while barking at me to leave when i asked for assistance, but instead kicked me out of the store and called me a thief!! When i asked her to show me what she was talking about she kept ranting on, Knowing she probably had no authority to tell me to leave this person has been rude for awhile, I was embarrassed and disgusted by this mistreatment, I HAVE NEVER TAKEN ANYTHING THIS STORE! shame on you. If don't like your job?!? FIX IT!

Outstanding Staff! not bad of a selection and its nice and close to home. store is normally quite clean and everything is stocked without a huge mess left waiting to be put up. love this store

I called for some customer service on a Rug Doctor rental. The Store manager Candy was extremely rude to me when I was trying to extend my rental before the time expired. The Dollar General should look into customer service training for their employees. I was trying to spend more money and now they have lost a customer.

They have the nicest people working there... I actually enjoy going there, and feel very comfortable. You can tell that they enjoy their job, and therefore the store is ran very well. I would go as far as to say it is one of the most well managed stores I have been to almost ever. It's definitely smart on Dollar General's part hiring these sweet, witty, intelligent people there.
