A place I used to respect & use for my prescriptions as well as my family's prescriptions (until today)Absolutely Unprofessional, Embarrassing & with blatant lack of care for the patient.. if I could give this place negative stars or zero stars, I would definitely do so.. truly disgusting behaviour & disappointed in the lack of care.. when I requested a copy of my prescriptions to transfer them to a different pharmacy, it got printed with disgust and thrown at me as if me leaving this place is a crime against humanity..Do not recommend the service or that you should trust these individuals with your medical care/business

I would like to thank Connie for her excellent customer service at the Duane Reade located on Steinway and 30th Ave in Astoria, NY. She listened to my concerns and showed great compassion. Connie understands the importance of connecting with Duane Reade's customers. She made me feel important and a valuable customer. I plan to shop more both on-line and in-store at this location. Also, today, I asked a nice lady on the floor stocking products if she has any reusable bags. She took immediate action and went to supply room and brought out reusable bags, and her timing was perfect, as I approached a cashier lady at the cashier line, she took out the reusable bags so I can purchase it for the goods I just bought. That is excellent customer service. Thank you to Connie and the lady on the floor stocking who got me the reusable bags, the cashier lady on first left side of cashier machine today at 2 19 pm. The cashier lady has a great personality and also knows how to connect with customers. Excellent!!!

This manager has been a puritanical tyrant for years. The employees who mean well are afraid of violating his insane rules, which have nothing AT ALL to do with NYC regulations.

This location that used to enjoy 100% markups on select products (presumably for the convenience of being open 24-hours) has added additional 100% markups due to being a crisis-profiteering monopoly.Seriously, I went to buy a supplement and the price had doubled again, so I went a block out of my way to an independent pharmacy where I made my entire purchase for the cost Duane Reade wanted for the one item. $8.50 vs $26.99. Just absolute ghouls. AND they've put even more stuff behind the plastic partition because you can't be trusted not to steal multivitamins AND the 90 minute vaccine line is still the same as the regular pharmacy pickup line. There is no reason to shop here over one of the many independent pharmacies (unless like mine your insurance will only fill maintenance scrips through chain pharmacies, which is an illegal anticompetitive practice we're just letting slide).

Avoid this Duane Reade for FedEx drop-offs! The contents of a package scanned in at this Duane Reade were missing when they reached the recipient. The A/C wasn't on (or broken), and it was hotter inside the store than it was outside.

If possible I’d give zero stars. The worst pharmacy I’ve ever encountered. There is always an issue with my prescription and I never can make just one trip because of it. I’m never coming back

I've been going here for 4 years because it's around the corner but it's actually the worst one I have ever been to, ever. Air conditioner is broken 50% of the time. Refrigerators broken 40% of the time. There's always at least 5 people in line because they are always under staffed. Worst.. I need to stop going here...

Worst pharmacy ever. Last time I was there I got home and they gave me the WRONG prescription. When I returned it they said they couldn't refund me but only give me a Duane Reade card with the credit. Today I went back to fill a prescription ( only used them again because of the credit ) and was told the card wasn't good on pharmaceuticals. The manager came over and was extremely rude. Had the nerve to go as far as to say this was my fault. I will never go back there again.

This is a review for the pharmacy. Apparently in our good old American prescription drug culture, where the answer to anything and everything that ails you is to pop a pill, our pharmacies are apparently so overloaded with work that they can't answer your calls. Also, this is what happens people when mega-mergers are allowed to happen. 'This merger will help improve our service to clients and give them more options in their healthcare.' Please. It's about CUTTING COSTS and MAXIMIZING PROFITS. They don't give a s*** about their employees. Don't give a s*** about customers. I just tried calling the pharmacy and was put on hold, with the message saying there was ONE CALLER ahead of me. TEN MINUTES later a woman picks up. I say something. I'm put on hold again. She answers again. I tell her I need to check my prescription. She puts me on hold AGAIN. It's now been 15 minutes and I've been put on hold and transferred AGAIN. I have never in my life had such an experience with a pharmacy. Never. What on earth is going on at this place?? Also....very confusing.... their signage should say 'Walgreens/Duane Reade', since apparently they are both. When I first needed to fill my prescription and with a WALGREENS (due to my insurance card), I was like 'WHERE's WALGREENS?'...then I look it up, and keep seeing Duane Reade. With all these mergers, it's so confusing...'what is CVS?....is that also a Duane Reade?' Who knows anymore?

Truly a disgrace how this particular Duane Reade forces its employees to work in extreme heat constantly in the summer. Every summer for the 5 years I've lived here, the air conditioning is consistently broken. It's difficult to bear 10 minutes in there, I really don't know how the employees do it. They really need to close the store, replace the AC, and comp the employees. Gross.

really not sure about all the bad reviews of this particular duane reade in astoria on steinway , very spacious inside, well stocked shelves , clean store , lines move quickly. workers seem nice and i got what i needed which was the walgreens brand paper towels and bathroom tissue which are 4 bucks each and 2 for 7 bucks. due to my walgreens card which is also honored at duane reade i massed many points which knocked off 4 bucks off my totaled which also included two boxes of cereal which i could not pass up at 1.99 per box. i did find the clearance section which has a mix of stuff 50 percent off and more but lipstick , mascara , garlic tablets , travel clock , stop barking dog collar , etc , is not high on my cant pass on a huge bargain list . end of review , my boys are waiting for me at gyro world.

This place is so outright bad that I only go if they carry a product I can't get elsewhere. Otherwise, the place is straight up horrible. Last year the A/C didn't work for literally the entire summer. I felt terrible for the employees who were cruelly forced to work there by whoever owned the place and didn't bother to fix the issue. Even now their fridge system feels pretty weak and doesn't cool the stuff very well. In terms of product variety, it's pretty bad. The food they carry is almost entirely junk food and what isn't is grossly overpriced. Even the household items lack variety. Overpriced is the name of the game at this store. Now as for service, it's pretty abysmal. Several times I tried to mail a package from here and I literally knew more about the package mailing system than they did. I had to argue with them about what package could be accepted. Seriously? Recently I bought a cheap item and noticed it was a dollar more expensive than it was marked on the sticker. The manager said there was nothing he could do about it despite being directly under the item on the sticker price. The staff dont even get paid enough to bother to sell their products and would rather you not buy them. There is almost always 1-2 cashiers despite there being 6 registers, leading to long lines, and no self checkout. It's 24 hours, but if you go there at night, expect there to be 0 cashiers and it's "self service" to have to seek out the cashier like you're Indiana Jones.

I avoid this Duane Reade like the plague. Any time I've gone in there, there's only one employee behind the counter checking people out and always a long line as a result. Usually, there's another worker nearby, but they're often either ignoring the phone that's seemingly always ringing off the hook or doing absolutely nothing. I ordered photos to this location once. Walgreens photos are typically ready within hours, so when my order was still "processing" after a couple of days I decided to stop by. The worker rudely told me the photo machine wasn't working and gave me no information about when it might be up and running. It has now been over a month and a half since I ordered "same-day photos" and my order hasn't been processed. I now go out of my way to visit the Duane Reade on Steinway and Broadway or the CVS on Steinway and 31st. Do yourself a favor and do the same!
