Quality of the seafood was great, the temperature of the shari in the nigiri was too cold which made the overall sushi experience not so good. The Spanish Mackerel and sea eel in cabbage were the highlights.

Amazing food. To be honest, I am not the type of person who eats raw food but this restaurant still keeps me hanging out with my friends, most of them like to eat raw fish. Here at Kondo provide you with a variety of cooked food. The restaurant is decorated minimal style which is nice and the services are nice.

this sushi is easily on par with the best minimalist joints in manhattan, for a fraction of the price. But the other food is wonderful too. Get the Saba Shioyaki. Trust me.

The avocado in the salmon and avocado was clearly not ripe enough, and hard. Felt like I was eating a cucumber. Ambiance, while comfortable, but the food was unfortunately not par. Braised pork belly was juicy and big pieces. We ordered 2 rolls each, with an underwhelming avocado. I normally love avocado and get avocado when I go out to eat.

It's a very nice place. We got a sashimi sushi combo which cost 48 dollars. It came with a tuna roll and 6 different pieces of sashimi. There was also an assortment of fish on the side as well. Our selection came with miso soup. We didn't like the soup. In fact the miso separated from the broth abd the tofu was cold for some strange reason. We also ordered yhe shrimp shumai andvit came with three pieces. It was delicious. Our sashimi and sushi was okay. It wasn't the best because it wasn't the freshest. We would come back but stick to the appetizers and pick our own rolls. Service was okay. The place is busy though and many people seemed to know what to order. Next time I would try the mushroom soup which several tables had and it came in a teapot.Mera's Tip: appetizers

Best sushi in a 1 mile radius. Fresh fish with unique style offerings showcasing the chef's ability to offer lesser known Japanese specialities depending on whats fresh and in season

I've been there a few times now and every time I like it more. Kondo is quickly becoming my favorite place for dinner in Astoria. The staff is always very kind and welcoming. The food is always exceptional. Straightforward plus some fun stuff on the specials list. Last week I had monkfish liver for the first time (yummy!) and the best squid of my life. The mushroom soup was divine.

Embarking on yet another culinary adventure, I found myself delighted by the delectable offerings of Kondo, nestled in the vibrant and diverse Astoria, NY.Atmosphere: (5/5)Kondo's interior sets the scene for an authentic dining experience. The space is clean, organized, and undeniably welcoming. The aesthetic is a medley of modern chic and traditional simplicity, creating a harmonious dining experience. Whether for romantic occasions or foodie escapades, Kondo's environment is tailored to delight.Food & Drinks: (5/5)When it comes to taste and presentation, Kondo is in a league of its own. Their Sashimi Deluxe is a revelation, boasting an array of top-quality seafood, easily serving two. Highlighting the Scallop, each bite was an indulgence of rich, velvety flavors. To kick-start the meal, the audience-pleasing appetizer, an oversized sauced oyster, is shucked in front of you. However, my applause goes to the exquisite scallops garnished with mayo and caviar, served on the shell - an absolute umami delight. For the vino, I must commend the Sesshu Otokoyama sake. Delivered to the table with precision and care, the waitress ceremoniously poured the brew right to the lip of the cup. A delightful spectacle!Service: (5/5)The phrase "service with a smile" definitely rings true at Kondo. The staff boasts both professionalism and charm, contributing to the overall pleasant dining experience. Their attention to detail and the precision they display, especially when serving, are commendable.Price: (3/5)As is the case with any dining experience of this caliber, it can be a bit pricey. Kondo hovers around the 3 to 4 dollar sign mark on the price scale. While not on the inexpensive side, for the quality and experience, it feels justified.Overall:Despite a higher price tag, the delights of Kondo make it a recommendation-worthy destination for lovers of Japanese cuisine looking for a memorable dining escapade. I personally can't wait for my next indulgence.

An elevated sushi restaurant with very attentive waitstaff. Great spot to go with friends and split the sushi or sashimi platters. The spicy tuna roll at Kondo is hands down my favorite and although it might be off menu, ask for the fish collar with ponzu sauce which is simple and delicious.
