They never deliver anything. They hit “customer requested to pick up” and then you have to go and do their job..

I had a frustrating and unprofessional experience at this USPS location on August 15, 2025, at approximately 10:43 AM. I came to pick up a package after speaking with USPS customer service the day before (August 14), who confirmed the package would be available for pickup on the 15th. I had my photo ID and the delivery slip left at my door.
While waiting in line, I observed Clerk #14 (female, wears glasses) treating multiple customers before me with blatant disrespect. She was unnecessarily loud, sarcastic, and dismissive—mocking customers' pronunciation, making rude facial expressions, and speaking down to them in a way that felt like public humiliation. She wasn’t there to help—she was there to perform control.
When it was my turn, I greeted her with, “Good morning, I’m here to pick up a package,” and handed over my slip and ID. She went to the back, returned, and abruptly said the package wasn’t available, claiming, “It just came in yesterday.” When I began to explain that USPS customer service had already confirmed it would be ready today, she immediately cut me off and said—loudly—“Is it just me or do you guys not speak loud enough?” That wasn’t just rude—it was demeaning, said with full volume in front of every customer and coworker present.
She followed that with personal comments to her coworker about “working on herself,” to which even the coworker asked whether that needed to be said out loud. If someone is truly “working on themselves,” it should never come at the expense of others’ dignity or experience.
After that, I asked to purchase a booklet of stamps. Unlike other clerks at this same location who have been kind and thorough, she didn’t show any options or explain the designs. She held them to herself and flatly asked, “You want a bouquet?” as if I were annoying her by asking a basic question.
I left the post office feeling disrespected, frustrated, and genuinely uncomfortable—not because of a single mistake, but because of repeated, deliberate rudeness from someone who clearly doesn’t want to be there. Clerk #14 displayed a complete lack of professionalism, self-awareness, or accountability.
This was not just a bad day—it’s a pattern. I saw it in her interactions before mine. Other customers were also made to feel small for asking for help. This kind of conduct is unacceptable for a public-facing federal employee.
I’ve submitted a formal complaint through the USPS website. It’s a shame that the complaint form limits comments to 1,000 characters because it doesn’t allow for a thorough explanation of incidents like this, which is needed for proper understanding and resolution.
I strongly urge USPS management to review this clerk’s behavior and take appropriate action. If this is the tone being set at the Steinway location, it reflects poorly on USPS as a whole. Your customers deserve better.

I never been so mistreated at the post office before until today . I went like I always do , shipped express as I normally do , requested “no signature required” as I normally do . Yarmel was my agent , she said this service is not available & of course I was curious I asked “when did this change as it’s a s service I always use” . U would’ve thought I said the worst things to her because of my curiosity. She proceeded to treat me like garbage , telling me “do I work there “ and “she knows her job” again I questioned her when did this begin , she could not give me answer but proceeded to treat like scum . I don’t understand if am spending $32 for a service why am I not allowed to ask questions. She should not be allowed to deal w customers like this . She threw my belongings to the side and told me to go see someone else , there was no other agents there as I was passed onto to her via another agent who at this point was gone . I had to ask her for my package back. Someone in the back was peeking as I was looking for another agent to help me process my shipment she walked up to me and asked me what was going on ( i noticed she was looking in after Yamel started to get loud )and I told her what happened and she started siding w her coworker I responded that my only crime was to question her for an answer that any answer would have been ok instead of what she was doing , that other agent said “ so the customer is always right” huh ? Like what is everyone doing over there am asking simple questions , when I asked what her name was ( because she had no name tag on ) she started screaming at me and kicked me out . I can not believe that I will be treated like this . So I went over to another post office near by on 30 ave , guess what I was asked if I needed a signature , I questioned if this option is still available she said yes and on my receipt it says “signature waiver” so who is right or wrong I have no idea but u don’t treat people like this . It’s disgusting to say the least

Yarmel delivered top-tier service—professional, attentive, and truly exceptional. The experience at this post office was nothing short of impressive: fast, efficient, and handled with care. It’s rare to see this level of excellence, but Yarmel made it feel effortless. You are appreciated!

I don’t think they know what customer service is. Or maybe I expect too much from these people.

I went today and as always in POST office service they treat the client as a piece of garbage. They think we that don’t work there are supposed to know when to print a label. I printed my label and she said I’m not supposed to printed because now she needs to do double effort with the machine and print the label… So if your job description is a double effort for you is better to give the job to someone that gives better CUSTOMER SERVICE.

They make up rules if they don’t want to deal with you. I was sending match boxes which are allowed… it doesn’t take a brain scientist to look it up before hand on the USPS website.. but when I went in the idiot behind the counter didn’t know the difference between strike anywhere and regular matches. Don’t waste your time.. they don’t know anything there

Routinely loses packages addressed directly to your apartment, especially around the holidays. The only option to deal with it is submitting a request, as if the package will just sit at whatever location the mail person left it at until the situation is investigated after 1-3 days. Companies should always use a UPS or FedEx instead because anything government operated and funded is a disgrace, and this location is a prime example.
