We were clients there for over 5 years. The quality of care has really gone downhill. The lack of communication between vets and staff is VERY concerning. Waiting in the waiting room an hour past your scheduled appointment time is VERY common as well. Surgically they have always done well by our pets I have to say. But after our pup catching kennel cough from her last surgery there, bringing it home to our other pets, and then not having VCA even call me back regarding KC treatment for my 3 senior dogs who were not handling it very well, was the last straw for us and we ended up switching veterinary practice. I feel that they have taken on way more clients than they can handle.

We brought our dog there for his entire life, spent thousands of dollars there. Our dog came down with mast cell tumor on his paw. We spent a pretty penny trying to save him. When I called crying for help for our dog after he chewed at his tumor, we were told to go elsewhere because they were busy. We ended up having to put our dog down at an emergency vet. I find it disheartening that after 10+ years of my dog going there, that this is how he was treated. Zero compassion, zero care that he was in need to be seen by HIS doctors and team. People who knew what was going on with him and knew his background. They're decent vets for your dogs current yearly physicals but the way they turned him away at his biggest time of need is really disheartening. I don't recommend this vet if you're looking for one who will truly care about the well-being of your fur baby at ALL stages of their life. They failed my little guy.

So kind and helpful. Fixed my baby up. My poor pup needed stitches on his face. Highly Recommend.

If I could give zero stars I would. As a client to VCA Ballston Spa for years, and paying out thousands of dollars to them over those years, suddenly in a desperate time of need to help my suffering cat, I was very coldly and disrespectfully told I was not allowed there anymore and they would not see my cat due to an unpaid amount of $20 I was NEVER contacted for at ANY POINT.I've paid thousands to this evil place, why would I not have paid $20 if I was aware of it?I begged and pleaded to pay it so I could get my cat seen immediately but I was still coldly told they would still not see my cat even if I did pay it. I was then transferred by phone to a line that was disconnected.I was willing to pay double or triple the measly $20 debt that again, they never contacted me for at any point.VCA Ballston Spa refused to work with me a desperate cat mom trying to help her family member. They chose GREED over the welfare of an animal. 20 fucking dollars. Don't put your pets well being in the hands of a company that will refuse you service over THEIR OWN mistakes and treat you like a criminal for it.**edit in reply to the comment from Ballston Spa Vet**Wrong. Very wrong. This reply couldn't be more inaccurate, misleading and ignoring the issue at hand.I fully understand any clinic not being able to fit me in at end of day. I've owned pets my entire life. I know how it works. HOWEVER. This isn't about not getting a same-day appointment (although I know there are emergency slots available because I've made one or two in the past and half the reason I chose this clinic for my cats to begin with but I digress)I was told, with the coldest most uncaring voice that I WOULD NOT BE ACCOMMODATED ANY LONGER AT THIS CLINIC FOR ANY APPOINTMENT IN THE FUTURE *BECAUSE* of a non-payment of $20 on my account I was never told of at any point. Nevermind the thousands I've paid. Money has never been an issue when it comes to my cats care. But shaming and banning an established client ALL TOGETHER over $20 is disgusting of your practice. Do better.

Not happy with Service I have been going to them for over 20 years . I have spent thousands of dollars there I had a bad experience last week I went to the clinic with my dog with dry eye ,they gave him a prescription for medication they did not have on hand they told me I had to order it through their pharmacy Wedge-wood. I called them ,outrageous they wanted $45 to ship next day delivery for my dog medication which cost over $50.00. The Ballston Spa VCA does not carry wha

The staff took such amazing care of my little cat Luna. My Luna got spayed and was very stressed out about it. The care team helped ease her pain, and mine. Can't thank you guys enough for all you do!

This animal hospital saved our dog's life. We originally came here thinking that our dog, Flower, had a knee injury, based on two prior visits to other vets near our home (in Brooklyn). Thanks to the attentiveness of Dr. Andersen and the entire team at VCA Ballston Spa, they were able to properly diagnose the true illness causing our Flower's symptoms: pyometra. Not only that, but the team handled our dog's advanced life-threatening case immediately and performed a critical surgery without hesitation. Thanks to their skill and excellent health-care our dog is thriving once again with no complications. From start to finish the entire team at this hospital was kind, professional, helpful, and incredible communicators. The vet techs that did our intake were very empathetic to our concerns, which put us at ease knowing that the team cared for our dog as much as we did. We felt listened to and cared for from the minute we walked in. Also, the care they provided post surgery was phenomenal - taking the time to sit with us and answer thousands of questions without batting an eye. We also found the pricing to be very fair. Our only regret is that we didn't get a photo with Flower and this wonderful team! Thank you all so much for everything :)

I cannot say enough about VCA! A little over a year ago my cat, Maggy, was diagnosed with IBS and diabetes. While I was going through a stressful and terrifying time I knew she was in the best hands with Dr. Mayrose and all of the techs! I always am treated with compassion and kindness, if an emergency occurs I know they’ll get me in ASAP, and I can reach out with any questions and typically hear back that day! I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done and I can say you will always receive 10/10 care!

The staff here are incredible! My parents relocated to the area a few years ago & began using this vet for their 13 year old lab mix. The old girl started to show signs of pain when walking & the vet recommend several options, including red light therapy which seemed to help significantly and give the sweet pup a better quality of life. Unfortunately time still caught up with her & the staff was so incredible; their empathy was like no other, and the sweet paw print copy was so thoughtful. My dad made copies for my brother & I and it's beyond anything a vet has ever done for our past pets. When my parents decided they were ready for another dog, they continued using this location. The experience has just continued to be exceptional! The poor pup came down with parvo when she was just a few months old, but the staff was phenomenal & diligent & she made a full recovery with their support. The exam rooms are easy to access right from the waiting areas as well with another door to allow the staff to take your pet for blood work, tests, etc. with ease as needed. There's ample parking in the lot and plenty of space inside to sit as you wait for your appointment if you arrive early too.

My cat broke her leg and I’ve been trying to get her into every hospital in the area with no luck, even though Dr. Rice was booked out until December she squeezed us in today. A caring vet I would recommend

Here is my experience. Have paid thousands of dollars to this place. My sixteen year-old dog has gotten all shots, treatments there for three years. Have been trying to get her seasonal allergy shot for two weeks, but because they have a lot of new customers, as I was told she can't get in for ten days. Paws are bleeding now. Going elsewhere. Oh, they also had to give her a complete physical(100 dollars) before they will give her the shot. They are a money-making factory and could care less about animals.

I really love my vet office. Everyone is wonderful. I have seen several dogtors here and each one has provided a very high level of service. While their costs are a little on the high side, I have found that the access to appointments, amazing facilities, and my dogs' welfare is worth a few extra bucks. They are very accommodating and have hours that work with my crazy schedule. The waiting area is split for cats and dogs, so you don't have to worry about that anxiety. And, the most important feature to me is that they don't push purchases you don't need and don't shame you for not buying the top priced item or service.

My husband and I used VCA Ballston Spa Animal Hospital for their boarding services from 6/4-6/9 for our dog. Excited to find a new place for our dog to stay (the place we used for years shut down due to Covid). VCA Ballston Spa Animal Hospital was an easy drop off, priced very affordably, and texted us pictures randomly of her which made me that she was is great hands. When we picked her up on 6/9 we were greeted by both her and an employee with smiles. The employee loaded everything into our car and we headed home. Once we got home we unloaded her items, her bed ($100+ bed) was complete SOAKED on the bottom with urine, her down pillow was free of urine but completely filthy, and the worse part was as soon as she came home she went to the bathroom (#1 and #2) immediately after getting out of the car. She hasn't stopped drinking water for the past hour, she never consumes water that way. She has a filtered fountain that she randomly will take a sip out of. Not sure on their methods of giving them water or the access they have to it but this is just scary thought knowing that she was that dehydrated. This was the first time boarding with VCA Ballston Spa Animal Hospital and will be the last. I'm sure everyone working there loves animals but the neglect of care I feel is extremely unacceptable.

My son has a sick dog and called here (which is his usual vet). The dog has been up all night with bloody diarrhea. They told him they could see the dog on Thursday!!!! My son was furious and told them that was unacceptable; they needed to see the dog today! His voice was raised because he was upset. The receptionist told him if he didn’t lower his voice she was not talking to him which only made him more upset. So - guess what! She hung up on him!!! He called back and as

The communication, for us, has been terrific. They explain everything in detail, answer even the dumbest questions with grace, and recommend alternatives when you cannot afford their recommendations or have the time.
