Tops is just Tops. They've been pretty great with all things but sometimes are oddly expensive (even with the bonus card). Three variety of things is pretty fantastic! Nice coffee selection!

I have always found Tops "FRIENDLY Markets" in Batavia to be a nice store. They employees are kind and hardworking. I used to work for Tops (University Plaza), so I know it is not an easy job. Today my opinion of this store changed (5/111/22 about noon, near the deli). I went in to get a few things and was using a store scooter, which in it's self is pretty embarrassing and not fun. I need total knee replacements, on both sides. I walk with ski poles, a cane, or use a walker at home. Every step is bone on bone, it is excruciating. I am 47. A man in a button down and dress slacks (management?) With a name tag I couldn't read clipped to his belt was stocking Constanzo's rolls. I grabbed a bag. The display table was very close to the cart he was stocking from, and also another display to the left. The scooter cart barely made it around the display. When I put the rolls into the cart I felt that they were frozen solid. Okay, no biggie but they were to be used right away so I swapped them for a smaller bag, which was not frozen. I set the larger bag on the side of the display with the smaller bag (8 vs 12 ct) two feet from the man who was stocking, thinking *I am like a rolling tank on this thing, I don't want to knock a display over, I already whacked a table and this is a tight space, I'm not sure of I can back up and make that turn without messing his display up* etc. As I slow-rolled away on my embarassing ride, he laughed and mumbled "Jesus it's right there , can't even put it back?", something about me being "lazy" and I think a weight related comment, but I cannot say for sure on that one. He scoffed and shook his head with increasing volume enough to get my attention, purposefully. I am 80 lbs pounds overweight due to my inability to walk. Dr. Romanowski is my ortho, I have been unable to get replacements due to this gain (during lockdown). It's humiliating to go out and use these scooters, worse when employees or customers (which has never happened in Batavia) make comments. For him, putting the 12 ct roll bag back was a reach of his arm. For me it would have been a 6,7...8? point turn on a scooter I suck at operating, in a tight space. When I was sure what I heard, I went (rolled) back and asked (no attitude, I was genuinely interested in his thoughts) "Did I make you mad by not putting that back on the right side of the table?" He said "I am used to it", no eye contact, no acknowledgement of my presence. Looked down, kept stacking. I said "It's difficult for me to maneuver this thing in a tight space". (Still no 'tude, I worked retail for years and I know what is expected of employees and what makes a customer a j*** in their eyes. I don't want to be that j**** but also know his behaviour was unacceptable). He said nothing. I said "when I worked for Tops we were trained to be nice to customers, and I heard the things you said about me". No response. I said have a good day and then got a few more things and left. I really wish I would have got his name. Not a stocker or cashier, definitely some sort of management. Clean cut. Brown hair. Light blue oxford buttondown (I think) In my opinion, this was completely unacceptable behaviour for someone representing Tops of Batavia, where every single employee has always been nothing but kind. It was embarrassing and just plain rude. When I left I felt like crying...thinking this guy has NO IDEA how much pain I am in, why I am on this scooter (humiliating but I am very glad they have them). No idea. I felt judged over stupid sandwich rolls, and my inability to drive the grocery-getter through the obstacle course presented. His response could have been "sorry, I'm having a bad day" or "sorry, I shouldn't have said that" etc. Anything other than his non apology. He went in the back after, I think. The door to the behind the scenes area nearish the deli. I worked for.tops.in the 1990's as a kid. 16. We were trained how to

I shopped here on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 4;30 pm and checked out at 5:02 pm with Robert G. He gave the old guy in front of me a very hard time when he asked Robert if he could buy postage stamps. This Tops runs overhead announcements offering forever stamps for sale at all registers as in "Buy them now, use them forever". Robert told the old man that he had just "come on shift" and could not look in the register to see if he had stamps. The customer asked him to please check. Robert refused and the man left. OK, lazy kid, but Robert then complained for the entire time he rang my order up about how he could not be bothered to open the register, lift the till and look through whatever was in there to see if he had stamps. This kid is flat out lazy, rude and openly mocked the customer who asked for his help, and continued to mock him to me. I could hear him tell the customer behind me the same story!! WTAF? I like this store because it has a nicer selection that Tops in Alden but clearly, they have the same staffing issues Alden has inasmuch as employees feel empowered to refuse to do their job and then to mock customers. Shame on you, Tops!

I live in Batavia and have been coming here for years. All my family and friends come here. This is not a good grocery store. It's good because it's the most local compared to everything else in Batavia like Walmart target big brands, but never fresh. But today tops my bad experiences. I walk in and the strawberries, organic raspberries and cucumbers all had mold on them. That is disgusting. I looked around the produce section and there were red grapes all on the display not in a bag spilt everywhere with a plastic bag thrown on it. Not only there but in another produce section there were more random gross plastic bags! This store really needs help. I'm surprised it's not shut down yet.

This is a great store that caters to the diverse grocery demands of the area. You'll find junk food if you're looking for junk food and health food if you're looking for health food. Their staff have always been more than polite and professional when I've talked with them.

Alrighty, I've seen and read other LOW reviews and am honestly confused as we all can't be talking about the same location. Pro: An AMAZING selection of fresh, well kept and local produce that is second to NONE in Batavia. Fruit selection is vast and fresh An AMAZING fruit and salad bar An entire shelf display of daily prepared fruit and veggie snacks (I'm a fan of the strawberry cups) in handy lunch sized containers A great carry out cafe ( the deli sandwiches are tasty and I'm not ashamed to say I adore their pizza lunch combo) An outstanding bakery that does great work on cakes and everything in between ( Especially the cookies) Great promotions sales and specials The employees are nice, checkout is quick and the store is clean They have good gas prices at their station outside Meat and Seafood sections are stocked with fresh, great value proteins and knowledgeable, helpful staff always ready with prep tips and recommendations. Plenty of well stocked shelves that could easily supply any kitchen, household pantry or medicine cabinet I'm aware of at one heck of a value. Great bulk candy selection a HUGE plus for families - kinda have to admit I've purchased quite a bit (that's putting it mildly if I'm being honest ) of candy corn and jelly beans, regardless of the season (My two favorite candies next to Cadbury cream Eggs and peppermint patties, that I've also purchased quite a bit of here) Very kid friendly (they have tiny shopping carts for them and car carts for them to sit in as their parents push the cart about shopping) Professional, helpful and friendly staff Clean restrooms Cons: CAN'T think of any...

This Top's grocery store is huge and I usually avoid it for that reason. It does have a lot of variety in products but for me they are hard to find. The store is clean and well stocked and the staff is friendly.

Were driving by earlier in the month and needing a few groceries before heading home decided to stop in. This location is definitely larger than some other Tops we've visited, with a decent selection of fruits and veggies. We generally avoid their proteins, and this location was no exception, but we managed to find (most) of what we came for and be on our way. Definitely a resource for the local community, if not exactly a gourmet destination.

Went to tops to get milk, i had to look twice at the milk prices . You got to be kidding me. Tops brand was high priced but the other brands were even higher. You talk about price gouging ,wish there was another supermarket around Oh wait there is ,i went to aldis got a gallon for are you ready much much lower a gallon. There's no reason for that much of a different price. Don't shop at tops if can help it.

Luckily I live within 15 minutes of 3 different Wegman's locations and 2 different Dash's locations. I realize not everyone in WNY is so lucky. Tops is the major grocery chain in Batavia. That being said, this store seems to have more bric-a-brac items than local Tops stores in Amherst, NY. Including an entire aisle of $1 items. This store is kind of ridiculously huge. Yet, I still couldn't find a bread aisle... Just some tables with bread on them. So odd. I did find the cat food I needed, that Target was sold out of, but still, where's the bread?? There is a gas station here too. And Fox is RIGHT. Tops is so overpriced, it's awful. All to save a few dollars at the gas pump? No, I'd rather spend a few dollars less on my breakfast cereal.
