My two daughters have attended Kumon in Beacon for nearly 3 years, starting at the beginning of 2021, mid-way through the pandemic. At the beginning, my older daughter was in 2nd grade, and my younger daughter was in pre-K. Understandably, my older daughter was falling behind due to the pandemic lock-down, having done the entirety of 2nd grade via Zoom.I can absolutely attest to the tremendous progress both my daughters have made, which I very much attribute to their time at Kumon. There’s a lot of repetition in the work for sure, and my girls don’t exactly love doing their Kumon work packets every day (now the packets are on the iPad, so it’s definitely more “fun” than the paper handouts), however, I absolutely know their foundational skills in both math and reading have improved tremendously. TREMENDOUSLY. My older daughter has increased in confidence and has closed the gap with her grade standards. My younger daughter, who started Kumon only because she was tagging along with her older sister at the time, started Kumon in pre-K, and is still in Kumon through 2nd grade now. Because my younger daughter started Kumon so very young, her math and reading skills are tremendously stronger than her grade standards. In fact, she’s reading about 2-3 years above her grade level, according to her teachers. I seriously attribute this almost entirely to Kumon. My girls LOVE the teachers and staff at Kumon, so that’s an important factor too, since they don’t “love” the work. I would highly recommend Kumon, and this Beacon location specifically, to any parents who are looking to get their kids some extra academic help. I would highly suggest enrolling as young as possible, given the results we’ve seen with our youngest, who started at 4 years old.

Our daughter started Kumon after the pandemic. She worked from home the entire 4th grade and struggled. The tutors at Kumon along with Lydia were so nurturing and sweet. They developed great relationships with my daughter and offered her a safe space to make mistakes and learn. There was always open communication and opportunities to work towards various goals. Our daughter loved the switch from the math worksheets to the ipad. This switch reinvigorated her desire to participate and complete work. Our daughter not only strengthened her math and reading skills but also gained confidence and self advocacy skills. Thank you to everyone at Kumon of Beacon for providing such a great atmosphere.

Our son started at Kumon Beacon when he was 4 years old and has continued for 4 years. The staff was absolutely wonderful, and went above and beyond to make this a special program. Our son not only excelled in math and reading as a result of Kumon, but also, and most importantly, developed a habit and routine of completing homework. The sense of accomplishment he has gotten has given him a boost in confidence. He even earned a spot in the gifted and talented program at his school. It is hard work for the entire family, but it is well worth it.

My daughter started Kumon in Jan 2023, right in the middle of first grade. She had been in a montessori school since she was three, and unfortunately, the transition to public school wasn’t as smooth as we had anticipated. While she was ok at math, her reading was behind compared to her peers. In first grade, she could recognize only a few sight words. The teacher expressed her concerns to us and we knew we had to do something to help her improve academically. It’s been eight months since we’ve started the Reading program and she’s far exceeded our expectations. She’s reading relatively fluently now and we are confident that she’ll enter second grade on the same footing as her peers. The staff at Kumon of Beacon is excellent and it’s apparent that they are dedicated to each student’s success. Hard work is celebrated and rewarded each class day and also at a year-end party. It’s been amazing to watch our daughter’s growth since she started Kumon and we look forward to her continuing in the program next year.

Our 9 and 7 year old kids enrolled in the Kumon math and english programs in Beacon for two years, and we could not bee more happy with the results. Both boys improved their math and english skills significantly, to include seeing a more than 15 percent jump in each of their state aptitude test scores for both subjects.Lydia and her team are exceptional, and the boys genuinely enjoyed their time with this excellent teaching staff. We were so happy with Kumon Beacon that though we just moved from New York to a new state on military orders, we found the local Kumon and have started the boys there. Kumon is a great option for military families or others who often need to relocate for work since there are centers EVERYWHERE and the kids can continue progress on their curriculum without disruption.Thank you Lydia and Kumon Beacon!!Kyle & Audrey

Thank you Lydia and everyone at the Beacon, NY Kumon Center. My son went from a kid who was struggling in School to a 96 average student for the entire school year. We could not be any happier with his progress and the extra help that Kumon has provided him with this past year. I am excited to see what our son will do this upcoming year with the help of Kumon.

I don’t know if I can write well enough to describe how grateful I am of Kumon. My two kids have been attending kumon for almost a year now. At the start of the covid pandemic, and being home with the kids 24-7 due to remote learning for them and remote work for myself; my wife and I started to notice that our children were well behind in their learning and studies, despite the high grades that were being posted on their report cards. When the covid pandemic started, we as many families were doing, were playing nightly board games and video games with the kids as entertainment and family time. We started to see a pattern that they both (at that time 11 and 7 y/o), were struggling to read and write when it came to games that required these skills. That’s when we as parents knew we needed additional help with their academic skills. The remote year obviously did not help their progression, and we were concerned that the oldest was heading into 6th grade and would feel overwhelmed and frustrated with the increase in difficulty of education he was about to embark on. I didn’t want them to go back into the in person learning, and not have the minimum basics down pat, while not being able to build off of the core knowledge that they should have mastered, which would help them excel at the new material they would be exposed to.When the children first went to Kumon they were tested to see where they stood in their education. Despite knowing they were not up to par in English and mathematics, to my dismay, they tested and scored well below grade level. They both started with the basic math and reading levels. In watching them do the work and overlooking their homework from kumon, I was disheartened about how the basics were not absolutely easy for them despite having grades from school in the 3 and 4 range. From the start, my children felt at home while at Kumon. They reported that they are comfortable and enjoyed being with Lydia and the staff assistants (Ally, Nora, Rhan, Rayham, Amira, and a few others). They felt that the learning environment was different from school, and that it was conducive and favorable to their ability to learn. Lydia and the team at Kumon worked with them diligently and effectively, teaching them skills they didn’t realize they had, and sharpened the skills needed for higher learningAlmost a year into the Kumon program, results have already been noted in both of our sons' schooling. The oldest has been awarded high honors in the first two semesters in 6th grade while the youngest is now being recommended to apply and join a gifted and talented school for 3rd grade. They both give credit to Kumon, the skills they worked on there. These skills have improved their ability to be confident, self-studiers, highly motivated at school or at home, independent with doing their homework, with less fear of learning new topics or subjects, less anxiety with test taking, and able to focus better in lectures. As a medical provider, I know the importance of education. I know how daunting it can be to strive for one’s dreams and the course it takes to get through high school and into college studies. Kumon, while it is paying off early with the first year of schooling for my children, the real dividends of Kumon, that I believe, will come in the future. Kumon’s impact on the children’s reading and math skills will only benefit their learning at school over the course of years, and that will enhance their scoring on the SATs/ACTs. This, I feel, will help them achieve their dreams, open the door for numerous universities, and unlock all potential for their aspirations in the future. On a side note. After seeing what kumon has done for our two oldest children, I know for sure, that when my two youngest turn 3.5 years old, they too will be entering kumon.

We brought our older son here over the summer. I've never worked with Kumon so I didn't know what to expect. The owner met with us and was very demeaning towards our son in-front of him. We all left very upset with the process. Our son left feeling like he was "dumb."The way we were treated was extremely unprofessional in my opinion and could have been handled with a simple "we don't work with older kids" or "we don't think your kid is a good fit for our program" discussed in private between adults.Note to the owner: No thank you! I appreciate that reaching out over Google "looks good" but if you truly "cared" about the families you support that care would have been extended to us behind closed doors and not just when someone posts a negative review! Also I'll just say that while our son was staying with us for the summer (he has lived with his biological mother during the school year, which you were made aware of when we met) we were discussing moving him to Beacon. This experience changed his mind and he left the next day. So it was not insignificant to OUR family and maybe the next time before you treat someone disrespectfully, you should think about the actual impact it might have on the child and how YOU as an adult and a professional should know better. Hence my reasoning for not reaching out over email. There's nothing that excuses that kind of behavior and as a business owner myself, I am kind of hoping this review negatively impacts your business, because you deserve it.

I am 29 years old with a 9 year old son. I put my son in Kumon because I went to Kumon myself when I was in elementary school. That's how long Kumon has been in my life and how much it's made an impact. My son started Kumon before he started school. He's been in honors for 2 years now thanks to Kumon. My son has memorized his multiplication tables, he can say them like the alphabet. Because of this, he is striving with division and fractions which is what he's doing now in school. I will always a special place for Kumon in my heart because it is such a big part of my childhood and now my son's childhood. And Lydia (owner), I can't thank you enough for everything you do for these kids!

My two daughters started attending Kumon in Beacon about 5 months ago and I can’t say enough positive things about our overall experience. I have seen more growth in their skills and confidence from this experience then any other educational experience or supplement. The instructors are all so kind and engaging. Their positivity and encouragement has my girls excited to go to the center each week. The program caters to our lives and busy schedules with its consistency. When our family was traveling for a month Ms.Lydia and the instructors put together everything we needed to continue working on Kumon seamlessly and provided regular virtual instruction. I strongly recommend this program and this center!

My daughter had been enrolled in a different Kumon since July 2022. I had previously been conditioned to think Kumon was "Military" style learning. Our previous experience at another Kumon was very dry and we were never greeted or treated personally. We were ''hushed and rushed''. It was if we all were just a number and we were a bother to the staff. In October we decided to switch to Kumon in Beacon with Ms. Lydia. She and her staff are so comforting and warm. I see them greet each student with a smile and a friendly "how was your day" or 'how was your holiday" etc. Each person at Beacon Kumon has a genuine love for teaching and it shows. They encourage a community vibe and allow the children to be themselves while learning. The staff keeps me updated on my child's performance without me having to ask. They take the initiative to inform us of what is going on...including traffic updates! Come on... it does not get any better then this! Kumon of Beacon makes learning fun and my daughter looks forward to spending her time there twice a week. I already see a difference in my daughters approach to learning. She now looks forward to Kumon each week and has a wonderful connection with her classmates and teachers.Kumon Math and Reading Center of Beacon rocks!!!Thank you Lydia for allowing us to join your Kumon Family.

We are so glad we found Kumon for our daughter. Lydia is very attentive and was able meet our daughter where she was to get her comfortable with math at the right pace. They are also very accommodating to military. I am always afraid of starting something because of fear of getting deployed soon, but I was reassured I could easily transfer to another location because they are set up globally. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to help their child advance in academics.

Kumon in Beacon is a great place to learn and was very helpful to our kids' scholastic development. Their reading and math skills improved notably in a relatively short period of time. As a result, their self confidence in school rose which in turn helped their academic performance. The staff is very friendly and organized. We highly recommend the program.
