Great Gym!

Front desk staff lazy, rude, on their phones constantly, not working, and unhelpful to customers. Terrible locker rooms, dirty, stink, often flooded, and sauna is dirty and not even hot. Attachments always laying all over the gym floor, as are dumbbells and ez bars. Clientele is not held accountable for helping keep gym orderly, and staff is lazy. Horrendous parking, tiny lot, good luck trying to find a spot. No guests for members. 24/7 gym, but day passes expire at midnight. Only reason there are clients is because the gym has a decent aesthetic. But overall is a poor gym. Go to Onyx if you want to pay to be disrespected in the background of some person’s video.

It's much bigger in the videos and posts than personally. Have a good amount of equipments and the price is very much OK! People take too seriously the recording thing. Nowadays with everybody wanting to be "influencer" that's a little (a lot) bit annoying for who just wanna go there and work out.

What a overhyped gym that’s exactly the same layout as ufc gym with wanna be “yt influencers”. I almost forgot the owner worked at ufc lol 🤣

As someone who works in the fitness industry, I have to say this place is not it. I was excited to join based on how they portray themselves on social media. I was expecting top notch equipment that is well maintained. However, that’s not what I got at all. First, parking is a nightmare. You end up either waiting in your car for someone to leave or park all the way down bellmore ave having to cross a main road. Equipment is all over the place, people don’t put things away, nothing feels clean. I have not once seen a member of staff, or a gym member, clean anything in the gym. The equipment is falling apart. Medicine balls have actual stuffing coming out of them, and they are still kept out to be used by their members. There are young kids crowding equipment and people placing tripods all over the place you feel uncomfortable walking past them/working out next to them bc you end up in their videos to post to social media. Not to mention the men loudly moaning/yelling while lifting weights across the gym. Weights are never reracked making it hard to tell if anyone is even using a piece of equipment. I have belonged to a few gyms in the past, and my husband and I have never felt this level of discomfort. Unfortunately we signed up for a year, and despite calling to speak to a manager to cancel/pay as if we went month-to-month, we were basically told tough luck by the front desk staff. They didn’t even put us through to the manager despite us asking. We’ve been here for 5 weeks and now I’m stuck paying for 2 memberships that won’t be used. I’d rather work out at home.

honestly it’s extremely small. if youre from anywhere but long island, it’s not worth the drive out there. the machines are basic, & the gym is only one floor & only has one room. i thought id love this gym because of how the media portrays it but i wouldn’t go back. the only good thing about it is the fact its open 24 hours.

Recently joined. Although crowded, if you go in with a plan you can pretty much find the necessary space to get your workouts in everytime. Big space, good equipment. Good price point too. I wish people would take their weights off the machines when done. Such a simple task so often ignored. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 is because of the people in there who are recording their lifts. A bit over the top. Maybe just limit it to 1-2 days/week? I dunno. Just annoying having to work around tripods and cameras. But whatever, the place gets the job done!

The great gym! I’ve gotten a day pass a few times and have really enjoyed my workouts there.

Came and tried onyx today after getting recommended their posts on instagram. Although, I do not think I’d come back. It doesn’t live up to the way it’s perceived on social media. None of the weights are reracked, you have to wonder around looking for them. Machines are dated and benches aren’t in good condition- lots of scuffs, torn fabric, etc. No paper towels to wipe down after, at least none of the dispensers I tried. As far as I could tell there wasn’t any resistance bands available to use. Lack of accessories for the volume of some equipment as well. Locker rooms are pretty dated as well and didn’t seem well taken care of. There was protein bar wrappers on the floor and the place kind of just felt dirty to me aside from that.
I will say I liked the aesthetic of the gym, rlly high ceilings, blacked out, good contrast lighting, it has potential, just isn’t enough for me to come back anytime soon with some fo the fundamentals it misses its mark on.

Saw a bunch of ads for Onyx on instagram and advertising it as a 24 hour gym with top machines. In reality its a outdated gym with old equipment. The place is dirty and the mens bathroom needs to be completely redone. Also start enforcing people to re rack their weights. The only thing thats nice about is that its 24 hours but for so is Planet fitness and its only 1/5 of the cost

Pictures attached are of the men’s bathroom and there’s mold and mildew everywhere. Counter is cracked, floor is always wet and discolored, the walls is discolored from stains and mold and the whole bathroom smells atrocious 24/7.
The photo of the water fountain is the only fountain available and there’s mildew on the spout.
There’s rarely paper available to wipe down machines but regardless, the spray bottles are 99% water and 1% solution. (I’ve seen the bottles get refilled).
It’s my understanding that a cleaning service comes in at night to clean but truthfully, the gym should be maintained throughout the day for cleanliness. Countless members go in and out the gym throughout the day; it is unfair for those who go later if it is only cleaned after everyone has left.
The gym portion itself is great. Good aesthetic, good space and layout, decent machines, good variety, 6 squat racks, etc.
However, underneath the good and trendy aesthetic is neglected sanitation at the cost of customer’s health.
I hope this reaches Jordan because I’ve been told he cares a lot about his business and seems to be pretty involved. Such a beautifully put together gym should also be well maintained!
(P.S.)(Fire playlist btw)

If you hate racking your weights this is the place for you!
Recently went 24 hours. Just more time for me to stand in the way shirtless, flexing with my photographer, tripod, and ring light.
I realized I missed the college frat vibe, and I needed to find an environment that could fill that void. Then I found Onyx.

Place is an absolute scam. The owner cares about nothing but money, wouldn’t make a difference to him if you went there 10 years and never saw him again. They’ll raise prices everyday with no regard for increasing service or creating a better experience for their consumers. If I achieve nothing in my life except a couple people reading this and deciding not to give onyx their hard earned money my life is a success.
