used to be a good institution now everything they do is questionable, their workers are poorly trained and ineffective and you just can't get things done anymore. I'm in the process of doing something I thought I would never do and that is switch over to a bank. This place is terrible

my account gets overdrawn no matter how much I have in my account. this bank never explains to me why this happens. I never use my account except for automatic payments that come out of my checking account to pay a loan I have through them. don't trust this bank with your money.

Overall It’s ok. . Lots of turnover so there is never really that feeling of friendliness I get at other financial institutions when you get to know the staff. The H in ghs must stand for hold, as they put a hold on items other financial institutions hold for a day. An official check from a neighboring credit union (visions) gets a 5 day hold which ends up being a week with weekends. All in all ok, I’ve been there so long it’s just easier not to change all my autopays I set up long ago. They also used local contractors for work at their one branch which I liked seeing. Also you have to “order” over 5k in cash. Must be a hold on that too.

I have a car loan through ghs and have had for over 2 years. We moved out of the Binghamton area and it's been just such a hassle to make payments.It's now really become impossible to get through to these people! It used to be WAY better. You still had to pay an amazing charge to pay on the phone (and there is no other way to pay from anywhere outside of Binghamton) but at least you could call and pay. Now, these last months, the IRS is way easier and that is no joke. I call and on hold for over 45 minutes plus easily no matter when I call. It's put my loan very late the last payment because I work overnight and extra hours; I just don't have the energy all the time to wait the amazing wait time to get through. Don't even think pressing 1 to get a call back works; I have yet to get a call back and gone through this torture several times. Just getting insane; I've never run into so many problems making a payment in my life.

TLDR; GHS is okay if you are looking for a local credit union that you can visit *in person*, but inconvenient if you are not local. Below is my experiences as a customer.Firstly, I have had numerous negative experiences with your customer service. I have been on hold for long periods trying to get a resolution to my issue, and when I finally reach a representative, they do not seem to want to assist or make it difficult to come to a resolution. This has led to frustration and further delays in resolving my concerns.Additionally, as a recent mover, the limited payment options for my loan, being restricted to either check or in-person payments, are highly inconvenient and make managing my finances difficult. While the option of paying by card is available, the imposition of a 3% fee for phone card payments on top of the loan's interest seems unreasonable.Lastly, the user interface for your customer portal is confusing and not user-friendly. I have a hard time navigating the site and finding the information I need. This has caused me to waste a significant amount of time trying to complete simple tasks like checking my account balance or making a transfer. I still cannot figure out how to begin a transfer.I hope that you will take my feedback seriously and work towards improving these areas. As a customer, I expect a higher level of service and reliability from a financial institution. I am happy that my loan will be paid off soon. In the future, I will certainly be looking for a more customer-focused financial institution that has more options for people who are not local to the area.

Sorry to say my experience was terrible. Waited 8 months (yes, 8) for loan paperwork, and it never came. No calls from GHS on status, even after I made 4 trips to office to see what was going on. Strange.

DON'T TRUST THIS BANK WITH YOUR MONEY!! They will not protect your account or your money. They won't stop charges pending on your account. They won't protect you from fraudulent charges. Been with this terrible company for almost a decade and ready to leave. Use to be decent but they don't care anymore and are pretty rude. Wish I could give no stars. They don't even deserve one. PROTECT YOURSELF AND GO ELSEWHERE!

I have had wonderful experiences every time with GHS! I went to the drive thru to cash my checks. The staff were friendly and cashed my checks very quickly. They always said to have a great day with smiles, which doesn’t come easy for everyone nowadays. My husband received a personal loan very quickly for our roof to be fixed. GHS put us at ease by giving us that loan in time to pay for our roof. I love going to GHS and wouldn’t think of going to another bank! ??

When my dear husband passed away unexpectedly about three years ago, I had many financial issues to deal with immediately. GHS employees were there to help me every step of the way. It was with ease and great professionalism they resolved all my issues and left me without worry. Thank you GHS

For one nice thing, you are wonderful neighbors. With my home directly across the street, I can always say my bank is really my neighbor. I began my banking with GHS in the early 1970's at the then Binghamton Psychiatric Center. Whoever knew then that you would move in right across the street. I am a frequent visitor and have never had a bad experience.I recently had a question regarding a large deposit at your Front St. branch. Candice McGuane truly is a positive representative of your institution. Candice not only resolved the problem, she reinforced why I have been a customer of GHS for over 50 years.I may not live in Mr. Roger's neighborhood, but I certainly live in one that represents friendliness and trust.

I recently had some unforeseen issues with An account by no fault of GHS, I was directed to Jheri member solutions specialist. She took the manner into her hands and handled It as if it was her own. A complicated issue was handled in a matter of days. It's great to have the confidence to work with someone who lives up to their title !

I have been a customer for numerous years and the thing I love the most about GHS FCU is your interest rates on loans as well as free transactions at ATMs. And I just have to mention the app I am able to do all of my banking in the palm of my hand to include mobile check deposits! All and all this is my favorite credit union :)

Getting a email to rate a business well and being entered into a chance for $100’s is a dirty dirty way to try and boost business. Here’s a idea. Maybe send out a email saying if you enjoy us we’d appreciate it if you’d leave us a review on Google. Then randomly pick one to send a prize. Don’t buy good reviews with a chance at something. That’s dirty pool.
