“At the Southampton Arts Center, “Second Skin” really nails it—an honest response to what’s going on culturally right now, with artists from all kinds of backgrounds. Curated by the awesome Estrellita B. Brodsky, it explores clothing as a form of art. I loved “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” at The Met, but this show stuck with me even more. The pieces are super effective, and even while tackling heavy social issues, it somehow leaves you feeling hopeful—and even smiling. “I don't know what all the whining is about - when I go into a bookstore if the proprietor is friendly and chatty I can't look at books! The people who work here are nice enough and VERY knowledgeable if you have questions which is probably the most important thing, no? Well actually the most important thing is the books - and the books are AMAZING. Seem pretty fairly priced too, with some real gems. If you're in East Hampton and you like art and books this place is not to be missed.”
