I'm a resident in the Fordham community for over 20 years. And this is the worst experience I've ever had in forever beauty supply store located 210 Fordham rd .The worst part was finding out that this behavior came from someone in leadership who was rude , racist, insultive and was a very condescending person name who goes by the name Joshua .Also stating he makes the rules and he is the manager.His behavior towards me was deplorable,and without merit , because not once did I raise my voice and as I explained , why I was requesting an exchange he rudely said we dont do exchanges then said it's on the receipt. I said while I'm very aware of the policy I do have a disability during my initial purchase , I did request serval times for assistance which I never received accepte for other than being handed the hair package. And what was crazy I didn't want my money back and I was willing to spend a greater amount to receive a better match closer to my curly thicker hair texture. And as I explained he rudely turned his back displaying disrespect and a dismissive behavior. THIS IS WHY I WANT MY COMMUNITY TO KNOW WE DO NOT HAVE TO TOLERATE THIS TYPE OF DISRESPECT AND RACISM WHILE SPENDING MONEY IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY. AND THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE. AND PERSONALLY I WILL DISCONTINUE SHOPPING HERE AND WILL TELL OTHERS ABOUT THIS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND PERSON Joshua. Moreover my PCA Aide witnessed his attitude as well as other customers who also chimed in saying he was just Nasty...And because my Aide witnesses the tears in my eyes and seeing how much i was just trying to stay relaxed she said it was so hurtful to see him take advantage of a person with a disability as she continued watching his horrible
behavior towards me ,and she began to tell him he was wrong and as her patient she will not allow him to raise my blood pressure and handle me in such a manner with his unnecessary and unprovoked attitude . I urge people in my community to stop spending money in this location especially if the service . Therfore I will be reaching out to the Better Business bureau in hopes that they can either make the company have there policies written on a visible bullentin prior to purchasing and not just on a receipt after the customer has already spent their money and now unable to be refunded Or exchanged ,even when the item is new and never opened. My issue wasn't only that but from the start my commuunity is a mixture of African american descent as well as hispanic, where we have a different texture, of hair and definitely require help while making a purchase on hair .or products . MOREOVER the two Mexican woman at the register was also rude and thought his behavior was funny yet neither one could provide me with the proper knowledge on a hair product or any body care or toiletries, yet they spoke in their language and laughed, just not knowing that I did understand how old they were, and when I spoke back in Spanish, they discontinue. This is horrible and most likely they probably are not even getting paid on the books so that makes it worse I URGE PEOPLE TO NEVER SPEND YOUR MONEY IN A BUSINESS THAT DOESN'T RESPECT YOU OR THE MONEY AND CUSTOMERS YOU'VE BROUGHT TO THEIR LOCATION BY TELLING THEM ABOUT THE ITEM THEY MAY HAVE LIKED ONCE THEY SAW IT ON YOU...JOSHUA WILL DEFINITELY BRING THIS BUSINESS DOWN WITH THE NASTY BEHAVIOR

Each time I visit, I encounter a security guard who is consistently rude and unwelcoming. Additionally, many staff members appear to have limited knowledge about hair care products and are often unhelpful when assistance is requested. However, I would like to acknowledge the young African lady in the wig section who is always helpful and professional. Given that this store is located in a predominantly Black and Hispanic community, it is disappointing to see such a limited selection of products catering to our hair types. The small section dedicated to these products does not reflect the needs of the customers who shop here. It would be beneficial to stock a wider variety of high-quality and popular brands that specifically cater to Black and Hispanic hair care. On multiple occasions, I have attempted to speak with a manager, but they are often unavailable. When I have been able to reach one, I did not feel that my concerns were acknowledged or taken seriously. A responsive and knowledgeable management team is essential for providing quality service and ensuring that the store meets the needs of the community.
I hope you take these concerns into consideration, as a well-stocked beauty supply store with knowledgeable staff can become an invaluable resource for the neighborhood. I encourage you to consider hiring individuals who are well-versed in hair care and expanding your product selection to better serve the community.

Everyone calling out the manager is completely right. He is condescending, disrespectful, and downright racist. He spoke to me like a child after one of his employees flat out lied about a product or just said yes to whatever i was saying, and instead of admitting to any fault, he spun it implying I should be grateful he’d consider rectifying it at all. With how disgusted I felt with after the interaction, I just left with my unusable product totally wasting $100. All I can do I is tell yall please shop somewhere else. It’s like walking into a 90’s time capsule and culturally I think the east asian manger still believes in manyyy outdated stereotypes. please look into the family red apple boycott to understand boycotting/divesting works and to contextualize why how deeply disturbing his views seem to be.

Absolutely the worst beauty supply store ever. The manager Josh or Joshua is very disrespectful towards the customers. He yelled at me for asking a simple question about me receipt. The Customer service is horrible. I will never return to this store again. Please don't spend your hard working money at this store. They don't respect the customers at all. Disgusting service. I will not return to this store at all.

I'm never the one to write a review but after my experience today I decided to write one. I had made a purchase on 09/22/22. I went back to return it the next day 09/23/22 they refused to exchange it and i had a receipt the manager is very rude and unprofessional. I will never shop here again.

I used to shop here every week and every weekI was watched like a hawk. They think everyone is coming in to steal and not shop. They will no longer get my money. I used to like shopping here but not anymore. They need to learn etiquette on how to treat there customers politely. We keep you in business remember that. Not the other way around.

Nasty and rude. Bought a hair dryer which doesn’t work and when I called to ask for a refund they said it they don’t give refunds. I asked they never told me that and the guy on the phone said we don’t have to tell you it’s on the receipt. Obviously if it’s on the receipt we can’t exchange it because it’s already purchased! You should let the customers know beforehand especially when purchasing expensive products! Don’t purchase here.
